Chapter 16: (Meh)
Lethe's POV
''You know, I understand why you hung me on this tree.'' I said to Sam, he had all rights to be angry since I did technically send a beast after him.
''Yeah.'' Was all I got from the old man, he was currently eating the dango dumplings I had offered him, it was my way of apologizing.
''What I don't really get is why you accepted my peace offering, yet I'm still tied up.'' I commented on the injustice.
''It is a disciple's duty to take care of his master, by all rights you should be rubbing my feet and serving me tea, while I idle by and watch the sunset.'' Sam stared into space as he spoke about what I assumed to be his ideal student.
''How can I do that if I'm tied up?'' I sighed exaggeratedly and asked. Sam rolled his eyes and snorted before indulging himself with my offerings.
''I've been like this for hours, what if my brain suffers some damage?'' I cried, hoping to earn his sympathy.
''We'll just heal you, just take this like a man, I could also heal your scars if you want.'' Sam offered a solution. Seeing that I couldn't win, I decided to stop this meaningless conversation. I shook my head at Sam's offer since I liked the way I looked now.
Sam stood up and left the tree to do other things, leaving me alone to my agonizing boredom.
Seeing as there was nothing to do, I decided to start singing to pass the time. It was currently afternoon, but a few dozen songs would (hopefully) make the remaining hours pass right by.
'' Fly me to the moon
Let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like on
A-Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
In other words, baby, kiss me
Fill my heart with song and let me sing forevermore
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you
Fill my heart with song
Let me sing forevermore
You are all I long for, all I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words
In other words
I love you 🎶 .'' I decided to start with a short song by Frank Sinatra, I sung in a softer and quieter tone since there was no beat to go with it. (A\N https://youtu.be/aTjCK1qtmIM. Here's a link.)
I engrossed myself into singing.
3rd person POV
Lethe continued to sing, his soft voice soothing to the ears. His dulcet voice filled the forest, with it came a variety of emotion as the boy put his heart into every word. Some of those were joy and love, but some other song gave a feeling of loss, confusion, sadness, and homesickness. This left a bittersweet feeling lingering to those who listened.
The boy unconsciously laced chakra into his voice, this affected the small animal gathered all around him along with his teacher who peacefully sat behind a tree, just out of the boy's perception.
A young and positive boy ran happily in a small yard with a bed of beautifully colored flowers, they watched as the youngster grew and went to school. They watched a cheerful boy make friends and was loved by everyone.
Time passed by and the once happy boy started losing the glimmer in his eyes as he went through high school. His bullies always lurking, waiting to destroy anything that kindled joy within him.
This awakened a deep anger within the animals, the emotions conveyed to them were vivid and painful. Some animals started growling while others whimpered in sympathy. The scenery changed once again. The boy was now all grown up, his formally bright eyes still engulfed by a sinister and gloomy shade of reality.
The sad man met a young woman, the woman reignited his dimming eyes. To him, she became his angel. They shared beautiful memories, their first date which would cause anyone to sigh at the cute awkward couple. Their first road trip as the two tried to find themselves. Their fights which only served to make them stronger, the young man's proposal, and the joy it brought him when she accepted and finally the angel's untimely death due to an attempted assassination toward him.
The scenery once again flew by, the boy once again lost joy as those he loved all left him, his parents, and siblings all leaving him. He questioned himself, thoughts of giving up plagued him and he almost did, but he met a little girl, she looked frail and her eyes looked just like his.
On a whim, the man adopted this little girl, time allowed them to open to each other, become friends and eventually a family. The young girl loyally stayed by his said, until eventually he also departed due to his obsession.
Lethe's voice stopped, he had unconsciously poured all his experiences and sung them out, he opened his eyes to discover several animals gathered within his perception.
''Huh?'' He confusedly said, the chakra that had been laced within his voice not there anymore. The entranced animals scurried away as they snapped back to reality.
''What was that about?'' He mused; he didn't have a clue that he was the cause of such an anomaly by accidentally creating a weak sound based genjutsu. His head perked up when he realized the sun was setting, he put the event in the back of his mind and started shouting out to Sam.
''Sam the sun has set, keep your word!!'' He screamed while thrashing around.
''I'm coming boy, jeeze, so impatient.'' Sam replied, he appeared before the boy and undid his spell causing the boy to land headfirst into the ground.
''Hey! You should be gentler, what if I break my skull?'' The boy complained while rubbing his head.
''Hmph, you're fine, also you should be more respectful when addressing me.'' Sam said, his eyes directed somewhere else. When he watched Lethe's experiences his heart went through turbulent emotions, some positive but most were sad. His fatherly love for his student further enhanced his feelings.
''You okay? You seem a bit shaken.'' Lethe asked, he could tell that Sam was acting a little different.
''Y-yeah, just thinking about something.'' Sam replied before leaving.
''What's his problem?'' The boy mused, he stood up and left to go take a bath.

(┬┬﹏┬┬)......Is this novel not good? Maybe I should quit writing.
