Desolate Sea

On a dark ocean that was filled with countless tumulous waves, a metal ship silently rocked along with the waves. A bunch of people who wore mercenary gear stood on the deck, silently looking on with frowns on their faces.

Some mercenaries huddled in a group, signifying that they temporarily formed a team. Others were solo, while a small group of people had the same logos on their gear, regardless of the type.

The group in the corner of the deck was one of them, on the front of their gears was the imprint of a midnight sky and seven moons in the air. This showed that they were in a mercenary guild, and sure enough, the party was odd.

A youth with dark hair and dark eyes, his mouth was covered by a weird black mask that had three red eyes on either side. He wore a black cloak that could cover the night sky, light boots, white gloves that shone with a faint magical light.

One could tell that he was loaded with magic treasures.

The others looked weird as well, there was a teenager by the side of the weirdly dressed youth, blonde hair and hazelnut eyes, two teardrop runes were under his two eyes, one black and the other white, the youth also played silently with a deck of cards.

Behind the youth was a stout fatty, behind the fatty was a large stone gourd strapped to him. The fatty had dark hair and gray eyes, he also wore Taoist clothes. Beside this fatty was a middle-aged man wearing butler clothing. The man had slicked back grayish hair and glazed eyes, as though he didn't care about the mortal world.

Slinking in the shadows of these fellows was a black-haired youth with red eyes, although his red eyes were quite eye-catching in the shadows. It was still very hard to catch through some weird methods employed by the youth.

In comparison to the boys and men on the mercenary squad, there was a white-robed maiden floating slightly above them. She wore a jade mask and had cold, dark eyes.

The weird party silently looked on at the waves persistently attacking the forcefield of the ship, as though under the control of someone. The other figures on the deck of the ship similarly looked on coldly.

"You all, if anything goes wrong, we'll have to bail this bastard ship, after all, we still have one that is faster and has better defenses,"

The youth with weird clothes spoke. Who else could this be except Feng? The people behind and beside him only nodded their heads in agreement. After all, they couldn't be bothered with this ship, anyway. It was freaking slow; they were on the Desolate Sea for a year and a half now, and they were only going to the closest continent to the Dark Continent, which was the Wasteland.

One could just imagine how long they would take if they went to some other continent. In addition, they had faced countless dangers and barely managed to escape alive because of their individual capabilities and secret treasures that they possessed.

"Attention passengers we are going to face a class 8 tide now, note that it is equivalent to a class 8 danger zone and the tide will carry along sea creatures like sea snakes, giant turtles, and so on, put your guard up, for the Mercenary Association will not take the blame for any losses you incur from the class 8 tide!"

A loud voice boomed from the intercoms on the metal ship; it was the captain speaking. The captain just sat in the ship, protected by the elites of the Mercenary Association, while they fought for their lives on the deck of the ship. All his warnings were always right, but most of the time they were always before it ever happened, which gave them not a lot of time to prepare, and this time was not very different.

The sky became darker and thunder rumbled through the air, lightning streaked through the sky, flashing at the most unexpected times, tension and suspense arose due to all these factors because one had to know that any random thunderstorm in the Desolate Ocean was extremely disastrous.

"Boom!"

A large boom rang out and lightning struck the sea, at the exact spot where the lightning struck, a huge tide as high as 40 metres rose, coming for the ship.

The eyes of everyone on the ship contracted. They dealt with tides below class eight before, and they were not anywhere near in size or the same magnitude with this one.

Countless sea creatures stuck their heads out of the massive tide. Sea dragons, Giant sea turtles, Shrimp soldiers, Crab generals, krakens, hydras.

"Fucking hell, if we manage to survive this we're becoming stinking rich," Feng spoke in awe at the large throngs of sea creatures.

"Hehe, I know right, so boss what's the plan?" Shangren Zhifang responded to Feng's statement and asked a question.

"Keke, what else, KILL!"

As though on Feng's command, even the mercenaries on the deck of the ship called on their mana, ready to kill.

"Hah."

Shangren Zhifang gave a loud yell as he chugged down wine from the large gourd on his back, consequently, he expanded in size rapidly, his fat jiggling furiously. His body also glowed with a golden light.

"Drunken Pugilist Magic- Stretch!"

As Shangren Zhifang yelled these words, his hands stretched forward towards the incoming tide, and as if on cue, Feng and the rest of the Purple Midnight Mercenaries leaped onto the arm and ran to the tide.

Feng stretched out two arms and two divine blades appeared in his hands. He frantically brandished the blades, shooting out lightning every time he waved the blades. The blue blood of the sea beasts decorated the deck of the metal ship.

But this did not matter to the mercenaries. At one corner of the deck, a black-cloaked figure floated and constantly chanted a spell. Black runes flew out of his body and mangled the sea creatures trying to get near.

"Fucking hell, how did I not notice that guy, I finally met another pure mage!"

Feng exclaims watching the black-cloaked figure, and as for the black-cloaked figure, he looked at Feng calmly and there was no noticeable change in his appearance.

"Kekeke, this party is getting even wilder now!"

Feng yelled over the roaring waves. He opened his mouth to chant. A giant blue magic circle appeared in the sky, harnessing the power of the lightning in the sky.

"Fall!"

Feng completed the last of his chants and shouted for what would not be the last time. The black-cloaked figure upon seeing this gave out what seemed to be a smirk and continued chanting, it seemed they began what seems to be a competition.
