Aren't you a healer?

And indeed, it was that easy. They found another 5 bears, and each of them was killed just like that. Edwyn felt a little unease about the situation. Aelya made a group with him for his help, but in the end he didn't need to do anything.

Was it really ok?

"We should move" The young woman declared, pulling him out of his thought.

"Hmh? Why?"

"No more bears."

And indeed, they were now alone in the forest and Edwyn felt even more remorseful. Being useless made him spacing out and he didn't noticed that all the bears were dead.

"What do we do then?"

Aelya raised her axe and aimed it toward the heart of the forest.

"We go deeper. We kill all we see. Pretty simple, right?"

Edwyn nodded, but internally he felt conflicted. Going deeper in an era meant discarding your leeway : if they stayed close to the edge of the forest, they could leave at any moment. However by going deeper, they exposed themselves to the danger. If anything went wrong and they had to run for their lives, it could be possible that they threw themselves in another monster.

That's why usually going deeper in a dangerous area meant be more careful and having exploring the map beforehand.

Aelya didn't seem to be a total beginner, so she should know that too. Was she doing this on purpose?

Edwyn was worried but there was nothing more to do. And after all, even if they died, it wouldn't be a real problem, they were only level 1.

Edwyn cast aside those thoughts and focused on the present. Even if he had nothing to do until now, danger could come from everywhere, he needed to be wary of his surrounding.

Aelya was more carefree, strolling among the bushes until they found another Bear.

However this one was clearly different.

His fur was mottled by red spot, which were, after closer inspection, scars from what seemed to be battles. His size was twice bigger than the other ones they had seen until now.

[Warning. You have encountered a wild boss. Be careful.]

The warning from the system popped above them but it was useless as they were close enough to see the window above the monster.

[Wild boss. Firwick the Noisy. Level 5.]

Edwyn felt a cold sweat running down his spine. This time they encountered a big problem. He looked toward Aelya only to see her drawing her axe.

"We aren't gonna run?!"

"Why would we run ? Aren't we here to kill bears?"

Second cold sweat.

"Milady Aelya, this a wild boss, and level 5 one at that. We need to get away as fast as we can."

"Pretty boy, aren't you a healer?"

"...Indeed."

"Then it's time to shine!"

Without giving him the time to answer, Aelya charged at the bear, it was the exact replay of the first time they entered in the forest. However this one was much bigger, and much scarier.

A deafening roar welcomed her first strike and the difference between the fighter became even more evident when the bear stood up.

But Aelya was unfazed, she decided to use the same pattern as she used for the other bear, and he seemed to work!

Edwyn started to relax when the bear opened his muzzle and let out a deafening roar.

-75!

However this time, the noise inflicted damages and the life od Aelya immediatly went in the red.

fortunately Edwyn was far enough and didn't take damages, however the young woman was in danger!

"Careful!" He shouted while casting his first heal.

+20!

After a chant of 2 secondes, her HP went back up a little, but it wasn't enough. If the boss released another roar, it would be the end.

It seemed like they finally met an obstacle, and a big one this time!
