Chapter 46: After

It had been a few weeks since Jake had fought against Valac, Jake was still unconscious on his bed at the monastery whilst the other masters were investigating what was wrong with him and what they should do with his Soul Blade now that it contained Valac.

Jakes injuries did not seem to be healing and everything he endured in the fight against Valac was still there, Gabrielle knew it must be something to do with his Soul Blade but could not even check it as every time they took it out the sheath Jakes aura would activate and start to burn him,

The only option they had now was to keep treating his wounds and wait and hope he wakes up.

Meanwhile back at Jake's hometown, the funeral for Abigail was taking place, Jake's friends turned up and everyone was wondering where Jake was as he had gone missing for the past 2 weeks.

Every news site and social media site was plastered with scenes of the fight, multiple pictures and recordings were watched by millions of people, they did not know that Jake was the one who was behind the mask.

People started to call him the masked hero as they saw him as a hero who saved everyone from a devastating even, other reports were claiming him to be dangerous as they knew there were others like him.

Governments around the world were coming up with treaties about the event on how they would deal with others like him.

The fight was the most talked about event ever, people had their own opinion on the event but mostly they saw the masked man was met with huge praise as the videos showed him saving multiple lives in the area.

The death toll came to 34 people including Abigail who was tagged as the main cause of the damage but other people made a point that in the video you could see purple mist leave her body, which others said was something else caused it.

Even with people trying to defend Abigail people still blamed her for the damage which resulted in huge crowds of people at her funeral, with the crowd heckling her family and friends.

Back in Jake's room, Jake had just opened his eyes to the sight of a poorly lit ceiling, as he leant forward to sit up his side started to burn causing a sharp pain making him grab his side.

Looking around the room next to him on the bedside table was his phone placed on top of his destroyed clothes, on the floor was his destroyed mask and tonnes of wet cloths next to a bucket of water.

Jake threw the bed covers off his body and looked down at his chest which was wrapped in bandages, the bandages were slightly bloody and he could see slight bruising around his body, as he felt his head he could feel another bandage wrapped around his head.

Slowly getting out of bed as he stood up from the bed he immediately felt yet another sharp pain shoot up his right leg causing him to fall to the floor making a huge crashing sound as he did.

Taka rushed into the room after hearing the crash and found Jake on the floor struggling to stand up, Taka ran over to Jake helping him up off the floor and holding him up.

Taka: Jake, Thank god you're awake, let me help you up

Taka assisted Jake towards the door.

Jake: Thanks Taka, do you know why I'm not healing?

Taka looked down as they exited the room.

Taka: Well basically your immortality seems to not be taking effect

They continued slowly down the hall.

Jake: How is this possible? Is there a way to fix it?

Taka: WE are all trying to help but could do nothing whilst you were unconscious

Jake: How long have I been out for?

Taka: About 3 weeks now, you collapsed right after your fight with Valac

Jake recalled the fight and remembered what had happened to Abigail causing him to tear up.

Taka: We will catch you up with everything once you are better

Taka then saw looked at Jake seeing tears in his eyes.

Taka: And I'm sorry about Abigail, I know she meant a lot to you

Jake wiped away his tears as they entered the main hall where they were met with all the other masters, each shocked to see Jake as they all stood up and turned to him as soon as he walked in.

Gabrielle ran up to Jake and assisted Taka in carrying him towards the table, as they sat Jake down Gabrielle looked at Jake.

Gabrielle: Are you okay?

Jake: Yeah, I've been better

They could all see the pain in Jake's eyes and knew that on the inside and outside he was hurting, Jake turned to them all.

Jake: So, about my immortality

Gabrielle started to stutter on her words

Gabrielle: Yeah, so basically, the issue is your Soul Blade, with Valac in it you cannot heal

Jake: well let's get him out of it

Jake bluntly stated

They all looked at each other in silence as Jake waited for an answer

Eucliffe: Well it's not that simple, every time we open your sword your aura starts to kill you

Jake: Well is there a way to get Valac out of the blade

Eucliffe: Yes, but it will take some time

Jake: How long?

Eucliffe: Roughly 10 minutes, that means you will have to endure the pain for that long

Jake struggling to stand up from the table whilst Taka assisted him.

Jake: So what are we waiting for, I can endure the pain

They all fell silent as Jake started to limp away from the table with Taka heading towards where his Soul Blade was stored, each of them standing up and following them down the main hall.

Jakes Soul Blade was placed on a pedestal with a single light shining down onto it, as they approached the sword Gabrielle started to explain what would happen to Jake.

Gabrielle: The procedure is very simple, all we need to do is take the blade out and open one of the flasks next to it which would then capture Valac like the rest of the Demons

Jake looked annoyed.

Jake: Is it really that easy

Gabrielle: It is, but it's what's going to happen to you that's the hard part

Jake: Well let's get this started

Taka sat Jake down on the floor and walked over to Eucliffe who was holding Jakes Soul Blade ready to unsheathe it, Taka grabbed the flask and turned to Jake.

Taka: Are you ready

Jake: As ready as I can be

As he said that Eucliffe opened his sword revealing the purple light in it, Jakes aura erupted causing him to fall forwards and scream out in pain.
