Strange Movement
Riley was sleeping when she heard something fell in her room. She got startled and woke up
Mum...., is that you?
She turned on the light and couldn't see anyone in the room. She turned and saw her window widely opened. She got scared and ran to her parents room. Clifford and Rosita were asleep when they felt someone crawling up in between them. They woke up and it was Riley
"Riley..." they both called
"Can I sleep here with you guys?" she asked
"Why baby?Is everything alright?" Rosita asked
"No mum, just some nightmare." she replied
"Okay Sweetheart." they chorused and went back to sleep
At 6pm, the alarm went off and Rosita and Clifford got up leaving Riley still sleeping. Rosita went to the kitchen to make breakfast as usual whiles Clifford got himself ready for work
"Sweetheart..." Rosita called from the kitchen
"Yes....dear" he replied
"Have you been trying to call mum to ask of her." She asked
"No dear, I've been really busy lately. There are lots of paper works in the office to be done." he replied from the room
"Okay dear but try checking on her, okay? I went to visit her yesterday and she misses you and Riley a lot."
"Okay Sweetheart. Umm..... to talk of Riley, why isn't she still up?" he replied descending down the stairs
"I have no idea, let me go check on her. You should have your breakfast. I will go wake her up." she replied
"Okay...." he answered and went to the table to have his breakfast
Rosita went up to their room to wake Riley up
"Sweetheart, wake up. You have to prepare for school." she called patting her
"No....mum, am not going to school today."
she shrugged
"Why Sweetheart...." her mother asked tickling her from bed
"Nothing... mum." she answered giggling and sat up on the bed
"I just don't want to go mum." she replied
Rosita sat with her daughter for a while trying to convince her.
"Rosie....., is everything alright? Clifford asked from the dinning table.
" Yes Sweetheart." she replied
"Okay dear, then am leaving. Love you Riley." he shouted leaving the house
"Love you too dad." she replied
Clifford went to his car and left.
Rosita convinced her daughter some more, then she finally gave in
"Okay mum, I will go." she stood up and went to the washroom to get ready for school and Rosita went down stairs to complete her chores. She was busy with her chores when she heard her phone ringing. She went to check and it was a call from the unknown number again. She quickly picked
"Hello....hello.... hello....." she answered, there was no reply and the line went dead.
She stood there lost in thoughts wondering who the call was from and didn't hear her daughter calling
"Mum....mum...mum..." Riley called but there was no reply.
She went to her mum and patted her on the back. Rosita got startled and turned to face her daughter
"Mum..., is everything alright." she asked
"Yes....., Sweetheart." she answered
"Mum, are you sure? she asked
" Yes dear, let's go have your breakfast so that I can take you to school. The bus has already left." she replied and they left to have breakfast.
Riley sat behind her food not eating and just playing with it.
"Are you sure you are okay dear?" Rosita asked
"Yes mum." she replied
"But you are not eating your food. You are already late for school." said Rosita
"Mum..., please can you pack it for me?"She asked
" Yes dear."
Rosita went to the kitchen, got something, packed Rosita's breakfast into it and they rushed out of the house to the car and drove off.
MARATHON INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
Loretta sat on her chair looking all around for Riley but couldn't see her. She stood up and went to Nancy and Kate's chair
"Have you guys seen Riley?" she asked
"No....." they chorused
"I didn't see her on the bus today." Nancy replied
"I don't think she will come to school today. It's already late."said Kate
Just then, they saw Riley entering the classroom looking all grumpy
" Good morning Anutie Ann." she said to her teacher
"Good morning Riley, why looking so grumpy today? Are you OK?" asked Anutie Ann
"Yes Anutie" she replied
"Okay dear, go and take your seat." she replied
"Okay" she replied and went to meet her friends
"Riley..." they all chorused and went up to meet her.
"Are you okay?" asked Loretta
"Yes, Loretta but I have something to tell you guys. Let's sit down."
They all went and sat beside Riley's chair.
"Okay here it is, yesterday, someone came to my room when I was sleeping, I woke up but didn't see anyone."
"Did you tell your parents?" asked Kate
"No Kate...., I don't want to make them worried about me."
"Okay, Riley but I think you should tell them." said Nancy
"Okay, I will tell them."
Soon Anutie Ann came around and asked them to sit down and get ready for their class activities. They did their activities for an hour and the bell went off for lunch. Riley and her friends left to the canteen to have their lunch.
CANTEEN
They sat around one of the canteen's table to have their lunch, giggling and laughing. Riley felt uncomfortable, turned around and saw someone watching them. She got startled and stood up
"Girls...., someone is watching us."
They looked around but didn't see anyone
"Are you sure Riley, there is nobody strange here." Nancy replied
Riley stood quietly for a while and ran off to the classroom
"Wait for us..." Loretta called after her and they followed her.
CLASSROOM
Riley went to Anutie Ann and told her why she saw. Anutie Ann sat down quietly for a while
"Riley, are you sure?" she asked
"Yes Anutie Ann" she replied
Anutie Ann took Riley's hand and they left to the Principal's office and told him everything. He sat quietly for a while and called for the security control room personnel. The security personnel took them to the control room. They looked through the security but found nothing strange. Riley looked on confused
"But Anutie Ann, I really saw someone." said Riley
Anutie Ann looked at Riley quietly and took her out of the control room
