Sophia picked up a mission to protect a merchant caravan on the way to the Melromarc kingdom. We're going there anyway and not in a hurry, so it just made sense to pick a quest on the way there.
We met with the daughter of the head merchant and were introduced to the other adventurers that would be guarding the caravan. Enough about the boring stuff though because what was pulling the wagon were a bunch of cute and fluffy birds. I asked what they were, and it took a while for her to realize who I was and that I didn't have much knowledge of this world besides the waves.
"Those are filio. They're bird like creatures that love to pull carts so they're great for wagons.", she says and can see stars shinning in my eyes from excitement.
"I want one!", I say. Sophia's ears pop up and she rushes off faster than the wind to look for one of their eggs because she knows I would love to raise in from a chick.
Sophia is back in a flash with one of the eggs and some feed for when it hatches. I store the feed in my gate and hold the egg in my arms with a happy smile on my face.
After everything is settled with the caravan and other adventurers, we set off for Melromarc.

I really love watching the scenery of this world. The trees look like they were painted rather than grew out of the ground. Roads are still dirt, so I had to create a pillow to cushion Sophia's sensitive butt after the first hour of the trip.
Sometimes it would rain and cause problems for the old wheels on the wagons and make traversing for the warriors hard. Mages and archers got to stay on the wagons for a better vantage point and protection from monsters. Don't want them walking with the warriors and getting killed by a balloon, now do we?
Since Sophia and I are an archer and a mage respectively, we get to rest on the wagons. I know my weapons are gauntlets, but has anyone seen me get into a close-range fight before? No, because I don't want to. I know how to fight up close if needed, but when that happens something has gone horribly wrong. I rely on cunning, traps, and magic to achieve my goals, not swing around hunks of metal. I am a sneaky snake!
I heard from the head merchant that we are about halfway to the border of the Melromarc kingdom. Sophia tells me that the region's previous viscount died during the first waves and since then beast men have been treated horribly in the city.
After we make it to the border the nearest city is just a day away. I want to make it to the city before the waves hit and we are teleported back to the beast men kingdom. The next wave is in a little over two weeks, so I'm going to start using magic to increase our pace.

The caravan made it to the border without much incident. The guards were total dicks though because they called me a monster and wouldn't let me in. I just used an illusion to make me look like a wolf beast woman and passed through. When we made it to the city, we found a room one hour before the next wave.
