The First Test

My first morning in beacon arrived, I woke up early to take a shower being careful not to wake the sisters up.

I had a strict routine that I had followed since I got here, and I wasn't going to start breaking it now.

I had to take a bath, brush my teeth and do one hundred repetitions of the all the sun breathing kata in succession.

Not necessarily in that order.

The sun breathing style was like dancing; it had to be fluid yet perfect, soft yet strong it was a combination of beauty and death together.

And like beauty, death only allows perfection.

Dancing until the sun rises, I had three hours to dance under the night.

At first, this training was harsh, but like everything, I overcame the difficulties.

The body I had been given, was strong, I resembled very much a young Geralt of Rivia, and the creator of the sun breathing style, perhaps this was the last gift that goddess gave me, a body with the capacity to evolve.

After three hours of dancing, I rushed to the bathroom, ready to start my day.

After a good bath and a bountiful breakfast, I rushed back to my quarters, finding on the way Ruby and Yang.

"Hey! We missed you this morning!" Ruby tackles me with a hug.

"I was doing my daily routine," I chuckled.

Yang smiled, "So ready for today, big guy?"

"Yes, looking forward to it," I nodded.

"I can't wait!" Ruby added with excitement.

Yang smirked at her little sister, "So, you seem awfully chipper this morning!"

Ruby nodded, "Yep! No more awkward small talk or "getting-to-know-you" stuff. Today, I get to let my sweetheart do the talking," Ruby then proceeds to stroke Crescent Rose as she sighed happily.

"That's one weird gun-human relationship..." I muttered.

"I know..." Yang muttered back.

"You seriously need some friends, let's go and get you some," I ruffled her hair up.

Yang chuckled, "Sexy is right, Ruby, you're not the only one going through initiation, try and make some friends. If you wanna grow up, you're going to have to meet new people and learn to work together."

Ruby sighed in frustration, "You two sound like Dad! Okay, first of all, What does meeting new people have to do with fighting? And secondly, I don't need people to help me grow up! I drink milk!"

"I... I don't have the required parenting or brothering skills to answer or diffuse this..." I find myself lost at words with Ruby; she's both adorable and dumb sometimes.

Yang looks at me like she was saying, I'm a sister level 90, look and behold "But what about when we form teams?"

"Ohh you're good..." I marvelled at her sistering skills.

Yang gives me a look that says, I know.

Ruby suddenly nervous and completely oblivious to our exchange said, "Um, I don't know, I... I'll just be on your team or something..." she said this looking both at a Yang and me.

Yang smiled, bringing her hair around her shoulder and stroking it, "Maybe you should try being on someone else's team?"

"I sure don't mind being in your team Ruby, but Yang is right, try, and if it doesn't work, we'll be here, and if it works, then you have more people to hang out with," I added poking her forehead.

Ruby then pouted as she faked the pain of betrayal, "My dear sister Yang, are you implying that you do not wish to be on the same team as me? And you, Dante... I thought we were BFF's..."

"Really Ruby... guilt-tripping, that's a low blow..." I chuckled.

Before Yang gets a chance to answer, I moved out going to say hi to Weiss and Pyrrha.

I stop beside Weiss Schnee and Pyrrha as they ready themselves at their lockers.

Weiss smiled brightly at me, "So, Dante, have you given any thought to whose team you'd like to be on? I'm sure everyone must be eager to unite with such a strong and handsome guy... I mean smart guy..."

"Not really, whether I get someone weak or strong is irrelevant," I shrugged.

"How about us then?" Weiss inquired hopefully.

"Sure, why not," I smiled, knowing full well where she would end.

"Perfect!" Weiss exclaimed happily, as she turned to Pyrrha, "What about Pyrrha? Someone such as yourself must be eager to find adequate allies."

Pyrrha hummed before replying, "Hmm... I'm not quite sure. I was planning on letting the chips fall where they may"

Weiss smiled at that, "Well, how about you join us, with us three together, nothing can stop us!"

Pyrrha smiled "Well, that sounds grand!"

"Let see what destiny has in store for us, shall we?" I chuckled.

Weiss started to rub her hands together like a supervillain, "This will be perfect! The smartest girl in class, combined with the strongest girl in class! And the strongest boy in class, together we will be unstoppable! I can see it now! We'll be popular! We'll be celebrities! We'll get perfect grades! Nothing can come between us now!" She then goes full evil laughing.

"How come she thinks I'm the strongest one..." I muttered, I mean it was true, but I haven't shown my power yet.

"Maybe she sees the way you walk, it's like a predator walking among prey... is like you are subconsciously aware we can't hurt you, and you let us that by just walking," Pyrrha explained.

Before I can answer Pyrrha, Jaune arrives interrupting us, "Maybe I'm the strongest one, so how about you let me in the team baby, Jaune Arc, the solution to all your problems. Nice to meet you,"

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" I started to laugh so hard it hurt, "This might... hahaha, be the first time in years.... hahahahaha that someone... hahahaha manages to get me on my knee hahahahahaha"

Weiss turns to Jaune, irritated, "You again?"

Pyrrha smiled, as she tried to help me stand up, this was my end, I would die laughing, "Nice to meet you, Jaune! Come on Dante..."

Jaune ignores Pyrrha and keeps on hitting on Weiss, "Yeah, yeah, now how about you let me solve all your problems?"

"HAHAHA, the strongest hahahahahaha!" My laugh turns into a fit of laughter and cough.

"Medics!" Pyrrha shouted.

"He was soooo confident when he said that... I need some water..." I gasped for air getting a hold of myself.

Weiss still annoyed said, "Oh, you've got to be kidding me!"

Jaune chuckled smugly, "Don't worry! No need to be embarrassed! Jaune is here for you, So, been hearing rumours about teams! I was thinking you and me would make a good one! What do you say? Feeling lucky?"

"HAHAHAHAHAHA! Who taught him how to hit on girls... HAHAHA, whoever it was, he was your worse enemy... oh god it hurts please make him stop Pyrrha." I was once again on the floor, laughing my soul off.

Pyrrha starts to hyperventilate, "Oh god! Oh god! How do I stop this, Jaune stop trying to be cool!"

Jaune chuckled smugly, as he said, "Can't do that, I was born cool!" He then turns back to Weiss, "Well, hot stuff, what do you say feeling lucky?"

"HAHAHA, this has to be on purpose!" I laugh-crying at this point.

Ruby and Yang both rushed to me, "What is going on?!" They both ask simultaneously.

"So tell me hot stuff, ready to see a real man in action," Jaune said, trying to sound seductive, flexing his muscles.

"Hahahahhaahhaha oh god!" Yang had also failed to avoid this powerful technique.

"Oh, no! Yang was affected too!" Ruby panicked.

"I don't know what to do!" Pyrrha panicked with her.

"That has to be on purpose! Haha hahahahahaha," I laughed as Yang, and I decided to greet our death, this was beyond what we could fight.

Weiss is at this point worried and tries to wave Jaune off.

"I have to stop this!" Pyrrha said as Jaune looks back just in time to see Miló strike him, sending the blonde guy flying off.

"Ahhh!" Jaune cried.

Pyrrha then sighed, "I'm sorry... but it was the only way!"

"Oh god Pyrrha you are my hero..."

I said panting.

"I almost died back there," Yang commented panting, as Ruby tackled her.

"To think years of training would be for nothing... that power is beyond what my sword can cut..." I chuckled.

"Or what my knuckles can break... wait a minute I can punch him..." Yang chuckled standing up.

"You're right; I have failed to see the simple solution to this problem; I just have to cut him before he speaks," I nodded.

"Or you could wear headphones...?" Pyrrha offered.

"Yeah that too," Both me and Yang agreed simultaneously.

As we laugh about what just happened, an announcement plays on the intercom system.

"Would all first-year students please report to Beacon Cliff for initiation? Again, all first-year students report to Beacon Cliff immediately." The voice was from Glynda.

Weiss smiled and said with a light blush, "See you there!"

"Bye!" Pyrrha waved at us, going with Weiss.

We then turn to Jaune that was inside a broken locker, "Having some trouble there, lady-killer?"

"I swear Jaune... next time try to kill me like a man... don't use cheap tactics..." I chuckled.

Jaune sighed, "I don't understand. My dad said all women look for is confidence! Where did I go wrong?"

"I don't have the time, nor this planet has the ink and paper to write you that information," I answered with a serious tone.

Ruby chuckled, "Come on, Jaune, let's go."

————————————————————

After a couple of minutes walking we find ourselves in the Beacon Cliff, overlooking a forest, where several students including me some old, some new, are standing on silver tiles in front of a mug-holding Professor Ozpin and Glynda with her tablet.

I can't help but feel excited, I was finally going to fight something, and it was going to be awesome.

Ozpin smiled, putting his mug down, "For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest."

Glynda took a step forward, "Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumours about the assignment of "teams." Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates... today."

Ruby started to panic a bit, at the prospect of not being with her sister, "What?!..."

Ozpin nodded, "These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well."

I didn't really cared who ended up with me.

Ozpin chuckled, l" That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years...After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path... or you will die."

I smiled, I know none of the Grimm in this forest were strong enough to kill me, but they sure made great dancing partners.

Ozpin the added, "You will be monitored and graded through the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. We will regard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?"

Jaune raised his hand but is ignored by Ozpin.

Ozpin nodded, "Good! Now, take your positions."

Everyone strikes a pose on their tile. Nora crouches low, Ren wields his weapons, Yang raises her fists, Ruby readies her body.

In my case, I sit on the tile, legs crossed.

A few a seconds later, I was sent flying into the air; I grinned in the air as I readied my aura and sword to take down my foes.
