A white moose, seen as a spirit animal by the Cree is shot. The hunters are murdered, then the hunting lodges burned to the ground. A group calling themselves the White Moose Clan has declared war on Canada and Spruce Bay is caught in the middle. Jim and Leigh struggle with escalating tensions between groups in town as events spiral out of control.

Spruce Bay

Leigh was just drifting off to sleep when she heard the thumping of the music next door. They must be watching to see if Jim's truck is in the drive. Though it could be that simple, since she hadn't heard them for a couple of weeks. She tried to sleep through the noise, but it finally defeated her and she called the detachment.


"We'll send someone over as soon as we can," the person on the other end said. He was a new officer, and Leigh didn't recognize his voice. She was amazed at how quickly the members moved through the detachment. The Staff-Sergeant had only been here a year longer than Jim. John and Rob had been here three years. Marie had arrived at the same time as Jim.
