Chapter 48: Busted, Part 2

The cold air made Trey turn his collar up as he walked. He needed to find a cross street to tell him the fastest way to the access at the mall. He came to a corner and didn't pay much attention when he rounded it. The growl chilled him worse than the wind. A dogbot stood just a short distance away from him, its eyes glowing red. Trey stood still and waited for it to wander away. Instead it moved forward and backed him up against the wall. He heard a siren approaching rapidly in the distance. Trey spent the time fixing his story in his mind before the police arrived. Good thing he'd been wearing the shoes without the lock-picks under the sole. The pass looked like a library card, and it no longer worked anyway.
