Sir Hugh stepped up to his commander and nudged him and turned back to look towards the abbey. A good number of men, friars, monks and others were gathering outside. None looked to be in a good mood, their scowls and angry murmurs obvious.


Unbidden, a couple of sergeants repositioned themselves and stood between the knights and the abbey, creating a barrier. Sir William wasn't concerned. While outnumbered, he doubted they would make a move against his men.
