Chapter 55

After Cain’s accident, Sophie doubted for a long time whether it was appropriate or not to tell Nadia about it. After all, she was involved in an indirect way, as one of the dragons that could have attacked Cain was her own. There was definitely something fishy about that whole business, and Sophie would have been sorry if anything happened to her friend or the little dragon.

However, there was the issue of confidentiality: she didn’t like the idea of talking to Nadia about something that she was explicitly asked to keep secret. And in any case, she was uncomfortable at the idea of violating the privacy of a patient. That had always been one of her red lines. So in the end she decided to say nothing.

She had tried to talk to James, but these days he was distracted, and she realized that he was not listening at all.

“Sorry, Sophie, but I have other matters to think about now,” he said abruptly.
