It was the first time in months since he had a genuine laugh and tears rolled down his cheeks.

“What the fuck Dion!”

“All I am asking for is immortality and only that one gift for me, no one else. I know how much you desire the Zymergillian inside Scorbosis. This fighting is a waste of time. I had been in Lord Evan’s service for a long time, but now he is no more. I have witnessed the power of the immortals. Surely you can transfer his power to me.”

“No deal.”

Dion’s smile faded. “I wouldn’t dare challenge you Supreme Ruler, you are telepathic so you know I am not lying. I don’t care about any special powers, telepathy, sorcery or any of that, only immortality—I want to live forever.”

Kalvich’s expression had not changed.

“Fine,” retorted Dion, “You have one day to reconsider, by that time Lord Talokta’s life will be over.”

The holo image shrank and disappeared.
