Chapter 90: An Impossible Discovery

The Titan Jewel dropped out of quantum speed just beyond the starting point of the Alliance starship's trail.

"Look at that," Julie said as they were surrounded by debris from a number of ships.

The proximity sensors automatically brought up their shields, and blue flashes of energy flickered as bits and pieces of damaged ships bounced off. Juan took a scan, and the computer quickly identified the fragments as a mix of Sa'larie and Alliance. "Doesn't look like enough of any one ship to represent a complete destruction of any of them."

"So one side bugged out before it was over," Simon concluded.

Juan nodded as he agreed, but was wondering why. "If the Alliance was on the offensive they would not have retreated until they took a lot more damage than this and the Sa'larie has been focused on showing strength and dominance so it would be odd for them to run out early on a fight. So what would cause one side to run out early?"
