Matthew O. Duncan is part of the resurgence of Old School Sci-fi.  His books are a mix of Military Sci-fi, Fantasy, Romance, and Mystery weaved together with non-stop action.  Matt started his writing career as a playwright. He won a number of awards and had his plays produced on local stages.  He put his pen down in the late ’90s but picked it up again in 2011.

The Phoenix jumped.  In just a few minutes they would be in the heart of the battle.  Juan quickly exited the Kerkes as they were clearing it off the deck and bringing up fighters to launch.  That was when he saw something he didn't expect; Julie in a flight suit heading to a fighter.  Quickly he ran across the deck and grabbed her arm as he intercepted her.


"Where the hell do you think you are going?" he demanded.


Julie looked at him ready for an argument but was stopped by something she never expected to see.  She saw the fear in his eyes.  Looking away for a moment she swallowed her emotions and then looked back.   "They're down a pilot, so I stepped up."


"Are you insane!" he held onto her arm with no intention of letting go. "If you go out there you won't come back.  Don't you get that?"


She put her hand on his chest and calmly said.  "And you think it's safer here?  Juan, I know the score.  At least out there, I have a chance to go out fighting."
