Chapter 20

"Is that not cheating? Is that really allowed? Will they not get disqualified?" I ask.

*Shakes head* he denies.

"No they will not be disqualified. As long as they stay within the rules that the guild or the tournament committee has published or issued, they are able to do whatever they want.

No matter what they do…. It will still be allowed" He seems to be pissed at he himself said. He really is angry that people cheat, huh.

"The system is flawed I see." I put my hand to my chin, trying to concentrate.

"Yeah, what a shame. People with real power and strength often get defeated due to people cheating or sabotaging them."

"Well every single thing in every world has flaws and that will never change." It seems that it is the very same case with this world also. Certainly flawed.

"?? Hmmm? Sir?" He seems to be confused by what I was saying. Well I was just talking to myself though.

"I just said that every single thing in this world is flawed, that's all." I take a sip of my beer.

"Why do say that? Is something not perfect?" He asks with curiosity.

"It is like that kid. Without flaws the world would not advance. Think about it, if everything was perfect, the grass, the trees, the wind, everything, just…. Perfect.

Then what is the purpose of moving any forward anymore?" He seems to understand what I am saying and is now even more interested, I continue.

"The world has flaws to make everything in balance. But that does not mean that you can't take the flaws into your advantage."

"What do you mean?" He asks an obvious question, something that is expected.

"I mean that if there are flaws, people will try to take advantage of it, like the cheaters that you mentioned." I answer his question.

"Aaaaaa." He nods as he understands what I was saying.

"That flaws can be used against them." I grin for some reason. I do not know but I just do.

"According to newt-" I stop right and realised something. This world does not have Newton or his laws, well I will just say it is a fact, "According to the facts, all actions have an opposite and equal reaction."

"Woah, that is my first time of hearing it." He is quite intrigued by that fact.

"Well anyway that is how it is." I take the beer glass in hand and finish it.

"So I have to-" people just keep interrupting me today.

A group of young ladies comes up to our table. They seem to be wearing an awfully revealing dress. I am not liking this situation.

"Hey there." They wiggle their fingers as some sort of way of saying hi. I do not like their attitude nor their atmosphere but then again, I could be wrong. Let me see what they want, since they seem to be talking to me.

"Hello, may I help you?" I ask politely.

"Is that?!" Again the people start talking in the background. How are they so loud? Do others not hear this or are they ignoring it? Maybe my hearing is too good?

"Yes, it is. It is Leola and Grace." Who are they? Should I know them? Are they dangerous?

"They are so beautiful. Damn lucky guy, got to talk with the most popular girls in the town." Thank you for answering the question by chance.

So they are the most popular girls, eh? I guess I should let them mind their own business.

"I wish that was me." I wish that was you too.

"Hey there, handsome." One of them starts to speak up,"Do you maybe want to have drink or two with us? It will be fun, we promise."

They say as they try to lean towards me and persuade me into having drinks with them.

"We saw you fighting Chaedo!" The other girl speaks up in a high pitched voice that nearly would have broke my eardrums, but luckily it did not.

"We were really impressed to see someone as strong as yourself beat them in just one go." She does not seem to be that impressed though.

Are they faking this?

"We loved the you fought against him. Not to mention the fight against Linfu. He is one of the best fighters I have known and yet you beat him."

She is going on and on and keeps praising me, to the point of it being enough.

"We do not see much strong guys here, there are not a lot strong guys in this village let alone in the town but you are different. How come we have not heard of you? What you do for a living if I may ask?" She asks me where I am from.

So she is trying to dig up some info along the way, huh? No way she is ever finding out where I came from.

"Sorry but what I do and where I am from is strictly confidential and I do not feel like sharing it, with anyone." I look my watch from under the desk, I should be leaving. I have to sleep to get a good rest for tomorrow's work.

I do not know whether watch has been invented or even found in this world but until I know that information I am keeping it hidden.

Just as a precaution.

"Okay….then…." They seem to be flustered and left for words as I find that they were not expecting that reply. " Then.. why don't you have drinks with us? Maybe you could even join our team." Even now they seem to be filled with such confidence.

So that is why. They wanted me to join their team all this time, eh. So they think I have that much power and strength?

I know that I have some combat skills and practices but I am not that strong.

But anyway they just want me to join the team. I will have to decline.

"I am sorry to ask you this question but.. who are you?" I really have no clue. "And I have no interest of joining any team or any kind of group."

"What? You do not know us?" They seem offended. I mean I did not mean anything by that, I just really don't know who they are.

"What is that guy thinking?" People here seems to love eavesdropping on others.

"Is he out of his mind to refuse their offer?" Another guy talks to someone in the back.

"You should know that our team is in the top rankings of the country." They say.

"Oh really? Good for you then." I get up and fix my coat getting ready to leave.

"I wish your team good luck and do your best as you usually do, I suppose. But it is getting really late and I must go."

"Seriously? You are leaving? You should be considering the offer." She seems to be panicking about this.

"I would consider what I need to consider and that offer is not something of that sort."

I turn to the kid, "Well then kid, I will most certainly see you tomorrow. Show me around the place and tell me about the job."

I rub his head, "Go and sleep, kid."

"Yes sir." He says.

With that I leave the diner and walk to my room.
