Anai'ya felt a trace of bitterness in her throat as she drank the wine, it wasn't clear whether it was the wine or the surging emotions inside her. There was a small part of her that felt guilty being here. She knew Damien's feelings for her yet she was sitting across from him in the arms of another man. One she didn't even like.
She deserved the jerk-of-the-year award.
It was okay though, it was what it was might as well just live in this reality.
"What are you boys talking about?" She asked.
Andre leaned back in his seat and frowned. He didn't want her to know why Damien was here. He directed his cold eyes towards Damien signaling him to follow along.
"Just catching up," Andre replied squeezing her thigh.
Anai'ya sneered in her heart. This man thinks he can hide things from me so easily. How infuriating.
Damien rolled his eyes, he was tired of their act. One pretending not to know what the other was up to, while the other lying in an attempt to cover up their actions. What a bunch of pretenders! He did not attempt to back up Andre's statement, what was the point? The main culprit of this ruse already knew the truth. He could see the ridicule in her eyes as she looked at the man.
Anai'ya curled her red lips, the urge to get back at Andre for trying to lie to her rose in her heart. She already owed him for 'Madilyn,' a little revenge wouldn't hurt. The little devil on her shoulder grinned in anticipation.
"That reminds me, Madilyn mentioned meeting up should we make plans?" Anai'ya asked with a sly look in her eyes.
Damien furrowed his eyebrows as he looked at them. He could see the sly look in her eyes and knew she wasn't up to anything good.
"It's up to you, she called and said she's free in the evenings," Andre said nonchalantly taking a sip of his drink.
Oh? She called, did she? How proactive of her.
"Okay then let's do Saturday. I'll book a table at Bernadins. You should come Damien, the more the merrier, Maddy is an old friend." Anai'ya said cheerfully, smiling like a little fox. Her bright amber eyes gleaming with evilness.
Damien merely looked at her and scoffed to himself. She wasn't planning on doing anything good and he wanted him to take part in it?
"Sure I'm free." He said shrugging. He couldn't resist a good show. Whoever this Madilyn chick was she was playing with the wrong person.
"Great, I'll handle everything just come ready for a good time." She said gulping down the rest of her drink.
Amidst her planning, she forgot about the vinegar chugging man next to her. Turning to look at him she saw his eyebrows twitching and his eyes shooting fire across the table.
Looks like Damien isn't welcome around precious Maddy.
"He can't make it he's busy Saturday," Andre said coldly, glaring fiercely at Damien. The man would not take a hint and he was pissed off.
"No, I'm free actually. I'll be there." Damien stared back at him, grinning.
"Is that so? Good then." Andre said tapping his long fingers on the table.
'I'll make sure you're busy then.' He thought to himself.
Damien smirked and continued working on his drink. He could feel the waves of dissatisfaction coming off of Andre but he didn't care. He was curious to see what Anai'ya had planned.
They continued to drink and chat for a while before Andre stood up pulling Anai'ya with him. The smell of booze coming from across the table was beginning to get overwhelming, Damien had drunk more than half the bottle by himself. He was swaying from side to side in his seat.
"We're off," Andre said in disgust. He hated people who let themselves go while drinking, it was not a good look.
Anai'ya looked at Damien through glassy eyes, his face was flushed red up to his neck. His eyes were half-closed and his lips red like cherries. She had the urge to go over there and hug him tightly. She wanted to make sure he got home safely, it was obvious he was done for the night.
"I can call him a cab. He's completely wasted." Anai'ya offered softly pulling on Andre's hand. Her cheeks were rosy from all the wine and her voice soft and gentle.
Andre turned his cold eyes towards her.
"Why? He's a grown man. Don't bother about him he can handle himself." His tone was fierce, allowing no room for argument.
"He's your friend, you should be more caring Andre." She scolded him. Her eyes blinked up at him in disappointment.
Immediately after saying that Andre's hand pinched her's with force. His eyes narrowed in anger. He hated her showing the slightest bit of care for any man. He was very displeased, the veins on his forehead were throbbing.
"Worry about yourself Anai'ya. We are leaving he will be fine."
Andre headed for the door and dragged her along with him. Sparing no glances at his supposed friend behind them. He wasn't completely heartless but now he was mad. She just had to go and open her mouth when it didn't concern her.
He was starting to look at Damien through jealous-filled eyes.
Meanwhile, Damien was way past his limit with his head on the table and eyes closed, unknowingly pissing off the green monster in the room. He was completely innocent in this instance but was now being looked at as an enemy.
He was really pitiful!
