Last Dance With You

"Are you enjoying yourself?" Alice asked as she danced gracefully with Alex.

"Yes. All thanks to you, Big Sister," Alex replied as he followed Alice's lead.

Alice smiled and nodded her head. Although she would like to take full credit for everything that was happening, she couldn't do that. The owner of the Sea Horizon Resort had gone all out to ensure that Alex's night would be a perfect one. Since that was the case, Alice decided to return the favor even if it was only for a short while.

"Do you see that beautiful girl over there with blonde hair and wearing a light-blue dress?"

"Are you talking about Amanda?"

"You're already acquainted? If that's the case then things have become less complicated," Alice said. "We owe her and her father a favor for giving us full support on tonight's event. Go ahead and invite her for a dance after this song ends."

"How about Abbie?" Alex asked. He was afraid that his beloved would misunderstood and nag at him later.

Alice grinned at the future henpecked husband in front of her and gave him some assurance. "Right now, Aiden is giving her a briefing of the things that I spoke to you just now. Forming a connection with Amanda and her father, Jacob Hawkins, will come in handy in the future. After all, she is one of the candidates that Exodia has had their eyes on for quite some time."

"Is that so?" Alex briefly glanced at Amanda and Zoe who were watching them from a distance. The beautiful lady noticed Alex's glance and waved at him. Alex, in turn, nodded his head and smiled back to her.

"I don't know about the specifics, Big Sister Alice," Alex commented. "However, I trust your judgement. I will do as you say and dance with her later."

"Good." Alice gave Alex a mischievous wink. "Having them as your future allies will greatly help your cause."

"I don't mind if Alex dances with Amanda," Abbie said. "I know that her father pulled the strings from behind and gave us the VIP treatment."

"Oh? You're not feeling jealous?" Aiden inquired. He could tell that there was no hint of jealousy in Abbie's voice when he mentioned that Alex would be dancing with Amanda during the next song.

"Why would I be jealous? Alex only has eyes for me." Abbie smiled with confidence. "Even if all the beautiful girls in the world lined up in front of him, he wouldn't even bother giving them a glance."

"Oh my, such confidence. However, I couldn't refute it," Aiden admitted. He, too, would not give a damn for any other girl aside from Alice no matter how beautiful they were.

"Aiden, trust is important in a relationship." Abbie had read this quote in a book before and she felt that it was quite true. If you are unable to trust your significant other then there was a chance that they were feeling the same way, too.

"Trust..." Aiden sighed. "This word is easy to say, but hard to execute. Right now, I don't know what Alice feels about me."

The elf glanced at Alice who was dancing with Alex a few meters away from them.

"I really envy you and Alex," Aiden confided. "How about you and Alex play matchmaker for us as well?"

"I'll think about it," Abbie said with a wry smile. She was not confident that she would be able to help the two get closer. Alice was still an enigma to her. The blonde beauty was quite a mystery to her. The only thing Abbie knew about her was that she was the daughter of Arthur, who was the CEO of Exodia.

She couldn't even comprehend how Athur was able to be part of this "game" that seemed to be more real than Abbie's current reality. Alex had mentioned to her before that Edea was real and she shouldn't treat it as a game.

The battle within the dungeon made Abbie realize how true Alex's words were. Although she was not severely injured during the dungeon exploration, she still received some injuries along the way.

When Abbie tried to pry more information from Alex, the boy could only helplessly shake his head. Although he wanted to tell her the things she wanted to know, he was unable to. It seemed that all the heroes summoned from Edea were bound by some sort of contract which prohibited them from divulging highly confidential information.

Abbie tossed her thoughts about the game to the back of her mind. There was no point in thinking about these things now. Alex had told her that she would understand more when the world of Edea opens.

A minute later, the song finally ended.

Alex approached Amanda and asked her to dance. Even from where she was standing, Abbie could hear the fangirl's squeal of delight which made her roll her eyes in Amanda's direction. She headed back to their table and sat down.

Suddenly, the chime of the grandfather's clock sounded inside the hotel which reminded everyone that it was already eleven in the evening. Some of the couples had already left the ballroom to wander around the resort and spend some quality time together.

Abbie watched Alex from afar. Her future hubby was really like a prince. The way he moved, the way he presented himself, carried elegance and a sort of charm, which were hard to ignore. Abbie was no saint. She knew that many of the girls who saw Alex became smitten with him.

However, now that she decided to open her heart to him, she would not allow other girls to snatch him away.

It wasn't long before the song came to an end. Alex gave a graceful bow to Amanda which made the girl smile from ear to ear. Abbie saw her prince look in her direction and give her a wink. After escorting Amanda back to her table, he then made his way back to Abbie.

Alex walked briskly because he wanted to watch the stars together with her in the private room that the company had prepared for them beforehand. It was a luxury room that was specially designed for couples who came to spend their honeymoon at the resort.

Alex had waited for this moment to arrive, and his feet carried him towards his beloved. Suddenly, a beautiful lady wearing a red cocktail dress blocked his path. It was none other than Hannah and she was looking at Alex with a pleading gaze.

"Your Highness, the orchestra will be playing the last song for tonight. Will you give me the honor of sharing this last dance with you?"
