Awake

Harnio woke up and looked around. "Where am I? What happened?"

He heard footsteps and the blacksmith walked into the small room and looked at him. "Finally, you're awake. You've made me and the entire family and the professor fellow worry."

Harnio slowly sat up and looked at his body frowning. "What's this?"

"When you were on the tower pointing to whatever you were looking at. It looked like you slipped and fell off the tower. On your way down you hit a few stones and now all that remains is that scar on your body."

Harnio touched it and felt strange. "It's huge… I've never seen such a long scar before."

"Ladies like scars kid… Don't worry about it too much. At least you're safe, alive and well. You should eat something… You haven't eaten anything for some time."

Harnio nodded and climbed out of the cot and stood standing on the floor. He looked down at his feet in confusion and took a step forward. "Thats strange…"

"What's strange. Come on. Let's get food in that body of yours."

Harnio sat at the table and looked at the chair in confusion. "What is it?"

Harnio shook his head. "Usually when I sit or walk, I can feel the ground or the chair I'm sitting on… Now I can't."

"It's just due to the injuries that's all. Eat first and then think about it later." Harnio nodded and picked up the spoon and started eating. "It's like I can't feel…" He kept eating until he finished the plate of food and looked at the blacksmith. "Is there anymore? I still feel hungry."

"There's a lot. My wife brought over a large pot of food for you. You keep eating and I'll let the professor know you've woken up."

Harnio nodded and got more food out of the pot and sat there eating. He looked around the smith and smiled. "It's good to be back in here. I wonder what happened up there? What did I see?" He looked at his hands and sighed. "Too many questions, and no answers."

He looked at his empty plate, and the empty pot next to him and sighed. He stood up and walked to his room in the back of the forge to change his clothes and bathe.

He frowned as he sunk into the water. "I'm not getting wet? It's like there is something around me…" He sat in the bathe in confusion. "There has to be some answer out there. Maybe the professor can help."

He got dressed in fresh robes and walked out of the room and stood in the forge waiting for the professor and the blacksmith to arrive.

"Boy… Harnio I was told you are awake."

Harnio bowed as Eiken walked into the smith and looked at his feet. "Hello professor. I need your help with something.'

"Yes… What is it?" Harnio sat down on the stool and looked around the room. "When I walk, I can't feel the ground, I sit here, and I can't feel the stool under me, and I just had a bath, but no water touched my skin…"

"Hmm interesting… May I try something Harnio? I'll have to approach you, but I won't touch you."

Harnio nodded. "Seems I'm the one being experimented on now…"

He sat in silence as Eiken walked around Harnio sitting on the stool. "Just relax."

"Bang."

Harnio watched as the stool fell onto the ground with a thud and looked at his body as he still sat. Harnio looked down wide eyed and felt his heart beating rapidly.

"Harnio, can you stand up on the table?"

Harnio looked at the table and took a step to stand on the table.

"Harnio… Your body is not touching the table… You're flying sort of…"

"What happened when I fell blacksmith?"

"All I saw as you fell was a lot of blood and the wind hitting your body. You lost consciousness when you saw whatever you saw. I jumped after you, and when I caught up to you I was able to pull the wings to slow your fall, and carried you back here... Apart from that, I didn't see anything else. Sorry"

"It doesn't matter… Harnio, do you think there is a possibility that during the fall and all the blood that some of the tower is now in your body?"

Harnio took a step forward to jump off the table, but he looked around and started to panic as he was floating in the air. "Ttttt-hat's a possabilittyyy. Howwdooo I getttt down?"

He felt tears forming as the blacksmith pulled on his robe until he was standing on the ground again. "Thank you blacksmith…

He looked at his hands. "I need a place to learn about this, and do research…" He turned to his room. "I'm going to use the tunnel there's a lot of space, and no one can see what's happening."

"He bowed at the professor. "I'll learn about it, and let you know."

"Fine… Happy you are safe. I'll go do some research to see if this has happened before."

Harnio looked at the forge. "Thank you for saving me blacksmith. I may need your help in the tunnel, especially if I get stuck…"

Harnio waved his hand in front of him and stood amazed as it formed a symbol. "What was that?" He watched as it faded with curiosity. "Could it be?" He waved his hand forming a pattern with his hand and stopped. The pattern turned into an inscription and then a blast of wind shot into the blacksmith leaving a large scar on the iron forge.

"Could it be that because of that fall and the pieces of stone that could have entered my body, that I've turned into a walking battery case?"

He looked at the damaged forge. "Sorry blacksmith… I'll fix it, once I understand what has happened to me."

"Hahahaha… It's fine lad. Let me open the tunnel and let's work this out, shall we?"

Harnio nodded and watched from the corner of his eye as the blacksmith opened the tunnel entrance in his room. He grabbed the rungs of the ladder and pulled himself down into the tunnel and looked around at the darkness before waving his finger writing an inscription in the ancient language and watched as it started to light up the area. He took a deep breath. "I'm a floating battery case…"

He turned and looked at the blacksmith's feet. "We're going back up… Need to get the grasses for the tailors, and I want to see what this body can really do."

He smiled as he heard the blacksmith curse. "You are your crazy experiments… Oh well. At least we're not climbing any towers this time."
