Chapter 101: Drax’s First Date-2 (A Side Story)

When Mills exited her apartment complex, she was greeted by the sight of a well-dressed Drax; he was leaning on the passenger side of the car with his arms crossed. To her surprise, his muscular body looked good in a suit. He was dressed in black from head to toe and where others might look dull wearing such dark colors, Drax looked dashing. He had gotten a fresh haircut and had even shaved his stubble.

When Drax looked up and realized that she was staring at him he smiled so brightly that Mills felt her heart skip a beat and she took an involuntary step back out of fear that it was all a dream. She knew Drax was handsome, but she had no idea he could look so good. His long legs seemed longer, and his strong arms looked inviting.

For every step Mills took toward him he took two steps toward her. His dark eyes never left hers, and his smile didn't falter once.

Extending his hand to Mills, Drax bowed slightly and waited for her to place her hand inside of his. When he felt her small fingers resting on his palm, he used his thumb to gently clutch her hand and brought it up to his lips. He watched Mills' face turn crimson, and he warmly smiled. The dress he had picked out for her fit perfectly, it enhanced her dark features and brought out the lightness in her eyes.

Drax had originally wanted to buy Mills a red or pink dress but after sending his sister a picture, she advised him to go for a dark color and he was glad that he did. Even Mills' skin appeared to glow in contrast to the color of the material. Drax led his date to the car and he drove them to one of the most expensive restaurants in Sani.

----

When they arrived at the restaurant, Drax did not drop his gentlemanly demeanor. He opened the car door for Mills before handing his keys to the valet. Linking her arm into his, Drax confidently entered the restaurant, he did not speak to anyone, but they were still escorted back to a more private area of the eatery. Sani did not have many locations with private rooms. As the country was more about showing off wealth. The rich wanted to enjoy their fortune in plain sight of those who were less fortunate.

Mills was still feeling like a princess when a waiter interrupted her fantasy.

"Third Master Staton, how may I address your guest?" he asked. Drax, who had not taken his eyes off Mills, saw a slight change in her posture and coldly replied to the waiter.

"You may not." The waiter nodded and left the two of them to review the menu. Mills was confused about Drax's response to the waiter, so she questioned him about it. "You are here with me," he said. "Why should I let another man address you?" Mills laughed at the absurdity and the shoulder strap of her dress slipped down with the motion of her shoulders. Drax suddenly wished he had gotten her something more conservative to wear.

Drax's earlier outburst was caused by the waiter's wandering eyes. Mills had been looking down at the table, but he noticed every time the man checked his woman out and it was one time too many. Unlike what he thought previously, the sight of another man ogling Mills made his skin crawl. He originally had plans to show her off, but now he wanted to hide her all for himself.

----

When the waiter returned, Drax ordered for them both, he was not trying to be rude by doing this, but he wanted Mills to experience the full benefit of being with him. He wanted to show her that he could, and would, take care of her in any and every situation. He desperately wanted her to feel comfortable with him, no matter the circumstance.

Moving onto step three of his sister's list, Drax broached the topic of Mills' family. As he expected, her reaction was poor, but at least she answered him.

"My brother and I were twelve when we lost our parents," she said. Mills told Drax that She and her brother were unaware that their parents had left them an inheritance that could not be touched until at least one of them completed university or reached the age of twenty-five. As a result, the prospect of raising the children became something like an investment. It caused terrible in-fighting within the family. "My brother and I were bounced from one home to another as our family members dropped dead," Mills said.

"How did they die?" Drax asked.

"We killed them." Drax knew that Mills was not being truthful and there was a hurt in her eyes that she was probably unaware of.

Mills was expecting for Drax to be disgusted but when she looked up, he was still looking at her with the same expression he wore on the first day they met.

"And then what happened?" he asked. Mills told Drax that they became seen as a pariah and their remaining relatives referred to them as the reincarnation of destruction and death. Drax smirked at this. He could see how the superstitious could make that leap. The twins had a unique eye color and even their features were unearthly. "Mills, are you going to tell me the truth now?" he suddenly asked, causing the girl to look down again.

"That is the truth." She confessed.

Drax already knew that Mills' family members had killed each other off. It was something President Lee had mentioned to him. His guess was that she somehow felt responsible for their deaths. Keeping his sister's advice in mind, Drax began to talk about his own family.

Mills laughed hard when Drax told her about all the mischief he used to get into. He told her how many nannies up and ran away after just one day of caring for him. He loved watching her smile and he could tell that she was enjoying herself. That was what was most important to him. He didn't care about anything else.

"How did you get into this?" Mills said while pointing her finger at Drax and making a zigzag pattern in the air. He knew she was subtly referring to his military career.

"Actually, it was an accident. I just so happen to be at the right place at the right time. Kind of like when I met you," he added, shamelessly.

"Stop it." Mills said while laughing.

"Okay, I admit that was bad," Drax replied with a grin.
