Chapter 537: I Know You

Mina watched Mills' face turn bright red as the tiny girl she had come in with ran out of the room. She must have bumped into someone in the hall because there was a loud 'ouch' before the woman's foot patter could be heard again. Melony shouted a racy promise to wait for Mills to come back to her in the language of Bal, and Mina knew it was meant for her to translate.

"What did she say?" Mina slid down into the mattress, not wanting to repeat the woman, but luckily Drax was interrupted by Ash. She barged into the room looking completely worn out; the prosthetics she wore were not the best, and her wig seemed put on in a rush.

"Madam, talk to me. Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Ash rushed to her side, and hugged her, clearly not caring how she appeared as she ignored everyone.

"I should've been paying more attention to the people around you. This is my fault." Mina shook her head.

"How?" She questioned. "Did you give the man who shot me a gun?"

"No, but I may have committed the crime then called the police." Mina knew Ash was referring to the gossip floating around about Vanya, but there was truth in the piece. It was just phrased ugly, making Vanya's Mother seem money hungry, when in reality, the women had acted out of self-preservation.

"I know you," the ghost in the room said. Ash seemed to only just notice the entity.

"Sorry, you must have me mistaken for someone else." The spirit started to move closer to Ash, who whispered a curse as she gave Mills a slight nod. She fled the room, and Mills blocked Ellie's path, not allowing her to go after Ash like she wanted. Mina cast a glance toward Willow, who quickly followed their friend out, with Cylus close behind her.

The fight between Elle and Mills started off as them just shoving one another, but it soon turned into a real show of strength and Mina looked to Drax to stop it, but the man looked conflicted. His hands were weaved into his overgrown hair as he stared at both women, unsure which one he should aid. Drax knew that if Ellie was going after one of Mina's friends, there was a valid reason.

"What the hell is wrong with you? You made me miss my mark."

"Then you need to work harder," Mills teased. Ellie took the challenge and threw a punch at Mills that made Mina flinch. Unable to take it, Mina shouted out to the women.

"Stop fighting please. What do you mean by your mark?" Ellie was still throwing punches at a laughing Mills when she answered."

"It's classified sis."

"What did she do? Why does your brother want her dead?"

"Wrong President Lee Hun." Ellie swung at Mills again and if Mina did not know any better, she would have thought the woman was enjoying themselves. She looked at Drax, who wore the same expression she did.

"Call president Cameron, now." The man fumbled with his device. When the call connected, Mina snatched the phone.

"I need you to call off a mark."

"Wow Mina, I'm sorry sweetie, but I can't do that. Marks are made for a reason."

"Please, she is one of my best friends. If you do, I will- I will consider dating you." Cameron laughed at the woman's use of semantics to play him.

"Consider?"

"Fine," Mina shouted. "I will date you."

"No." Mina could feel tears welling with the man's refusal.

"Please Cam?" she said, using the man's informal title to show how serious she was. Mina could hear the man replying, but his voice was coming from the hall, not the phone. She looked up and saw both President Lees coming into the room.

"Ellie. Heel," Cam said, and Mills blew the woman a kiss while patting her head like a puppy.

"You have a lot to learn little girl, but you are good." President Cam smiled at Mills, who had bested Ellie, before turning back to Mina.

"As much as I would like to take you up on that offer, I am kind of seeing someone already, but I have another proposition for you." Mina listened to the man and found herself conflicted.

In exchange for the mark on Ash to be cancelled, Mina had to move back into the Lee mansion until her leg recovered. Judging solely on her inability to move or lift it, Mina saw that taking anywhere from two to four months. She questioned the president, who told her that he had to use a lot of his presidential powers to convince people that what they saw in broad daylight, was not actually gun fire and dead bodies, but a scene for a now scrapped action film.

"What does that have to do with Mina's recovery?" Mills asked boldly.

"She is going to bring the people, who were brave enough to attack her in my country, to us. Besides, she already owes me; I had to move your friends to a more secluded neighborhood with better security." Cameron turned to leave but stopped to question Ellie.

"What did Mina's friend do?"

"I'm more than sure she is the one who leaked information from your campaign." Cam made a noise that told Ellie he remembered the incident.

"You can cancel the mark, but I still want her captured; unharmed. In the meantime, help Ian make the arrangements for Mina to move into this mansion."

"Cam," President Lee interjected. "Mina doesn't want that." Mills felt relieved by her boss's words.

"Unless you want to tell our parents what happened to your head, I suggest you and Mina do exactly as I say. This isn't about your comfort or hers." Ian stared at his cousin, who he had never in his life been more grateful toward. If the man did not see Mina as an asset to the family, he was sure he would have given the girl away already.

"I told you, someone snuck up on me. You can ask Mina." Mills watched Mina sink into the bed, understanding that President Lee was lying to cover for the woman, and she could only guess it was to keep her alive.

"Well, when that person is found and dead, then and only then can she move out." Mina's eyes went wide as she watched the nation's leader leave her hospital room.

"Don't listen to him," President Lee said as he turned to face her. "I will have you transferred for further treatment at a Lee facility. You can stay there as long as you want, and in the meantime, I will try and convince him to let you move." Mina did not know who she was talking to, and she wondered if the wound on President Lee's head was somehow clouding his judgement. "Can you all give Mina and I a moment?" Mills was the first to leave the room, followed by Drax, who was obviously chasing her. Ellie was the last to leave, but not before turning to face Mina.

"See you at home sis." Mina glared at the woman, who chuckled as she left.

With everyone gone, Ian settled in a chair beside Mina's bed and told her exactly what happened in the two days she was out. First, her apartment was targeted, but Dom was there with Emma and Jay, so the women were unharmed. He also told her that Zane had been shot, and while Mina was worried, she could not help but to keep staring at the bandage wrapped around the man's head.

"Do you want to see it?" Ian asked, cutting himself off mid-sentence, because he saw Mina's eyes trailing. The woman shook her head and he gestured for her to remove the wrapping herself. She gasped when she saw the sloppy stitches and was grateful that the scar would develop under the man's hair. While she was studying the wound, he turned to face her, wanting her to know that he did not blame her. "Can I see yours now?"
