Chapter 10
I stopped the car, turning it off. The desert was filled with cars and teenagers. I could hear screams and laughter, the sun had already set. The only form of light was the headlights from some cars upfront. Looking at Sun who was ready to jump out of the car, the black biker shorts and what looked like a bikini top shows off all her tan skin. While I was in a skirt that would give my father a heart attack. It didn't leave much to the imagination.
"Let's go," I tell her putting on sunglasses. My boots sink into the soft sand.
"Shit this looks crazy," Sun says when she spots almost hundreds of people and a lot of cars. I put my arms around her waist as I walked towards the crowd. There was a group of boys and girls gathered around a car, the rest of the people were scattered everywhere. I noticed James with a girl on his lap, they were passing around a joint. All the girls seem to be in black shorts with a white t-shirt. But Tyler was nowhere to be seen.
"Look who made it!" James yelled when he saw us walking towards them. He made everyone turn around to look at us. Sun puts her arm around my neck when we got closer.
"Didn't think you would be brave enough to come" he gets off the hood of the car.
"Well, you were wrong," I tell him ignoring the stares
"Who's the pretty chick" he points on Sun.
"Sun, she's a friend" I introduced her, she nods at him.
"Who are they James," the girl that was on his lap asked.
"They are from ASH" he smirked
"What the fuck man! Who invited them" a boy jumps off a hood angrily
"I did and no one is gonna say or do nothing to them," he says to the guy who was looking at us with hatred.
"Is that bitch who insulted Adriana?" a girl asked
"Who you calling a bitch?" Sun was gone from my arms stepping forward before I could pull her.
"That pretty princess in pink" the girl points at me.
"Yes, I insulted her. What you gonna do about it" I smile walking forward so she could see me.
"I also heard you fucking her man? Is that true?" I knew she was talking about Tyler. I didn't say anything but kept the smile on my face lifting my sunglasses.
"You shouldn't have invited these rich brats, James, Adriana would be pissed"
"Call us brats one more time and I make you regret it" Sun warns her,
"No one is going to be doing anything!" a deep voice yelled from behind us. I spin around knowing who it was.
He was wearing a dark Jeans white a black shirt that expose his arms, showing all his tattoos. I heard some girls gasping— he affected them as well.
"Well, hello daddy" Sun whispers in my ear making me laugh.
"You came?" he raised his brow
"Aren't you going to drag me out by my hair?" I asked walking closer to him.
"Not yet" he eyes ran over my body. I looked behind him expecting to see his girl but he came alone.
"It's time," he tells James.
"Time for what?" I asked confused as people started moving to the sides.
"Who's coming with to ride with me!" A guy yelled looking at the girls but he stops and looks on Sun.
"What about you? Coming?" he asked her putting his hands out.
"Sure baby" she winks. I looked at her in alarmed. "See you in a bit of Bell!" She yells, giggling running after him.
"Watch and learn princess!" Tyler laughs getting into an Audi S3
A hand pulls me out of the way when the card begins to line up, I look back at James. He winks at me, handing me a white and black flag. "You know what to do?"
"Yeah," I tell him about collecting the flag.
I walked to the middle, standing in front of the cars. My heart was thumping, my adrenaline was intense. The sounds of the cars gearing were so loud, the people were screaming. I took a deep breath raising my hands in the air, I looked into Tyler's car he was at the front. I couldn't see him the cause of all the headlights on me but I knew he could see me.
The second my hands came down they all took off leaving dust behind. People ran after there cars screaming.
"That was amazing!" I screamed at James. "I see you guys do it" my hands were still shaking.
"Hi, I'm Sarah" the girl next to him introduced herself.
"I'm Bella" I smile at her, she didn't look like she hated me.
"I know," she smirked
"How long is the race?" I asked
"About 5min," James says "they should be back soon" he takes a hit. He surprises me by passing it to me, I take it out of his hands. They watch me as put it on my mouth. I inhale it, "Shit, this is good," I say surprised.
"This ain't what you rich folks smoke, this is good weed. It will have you high for hours" James laughs allowing me to take another hit.
"I'm Jana and this is Nelson" another girl introduced herself. They move up the car hood making space for me. I took the bottle of Jack she was passing me.
"Shit! Someone is coming!" Nelson yells jumping up. The was talking about the race. I stood up on the hood trying to see the car, there was a huge hill in front of us.
"Omg, it's Tyler!" Some girls scream when they saw his car. There was another car not that far behind.
"They can't make that!" I yelled at James, the black car behind Tyler was trying to overtake him but the road was too narrow and small. Both of them wouldn't make it.
"Shit! What the fuck is Josh doing?" Jana yells I guess the guy in the other car was Josh.
"They can't make it" I whisper, scared. The people scream got louder as they got closer. I closed eyes unable to watch as they zoomed past us. There weren't any cries, no one was yelling. They were cheering.
I opened my eyes, people were running to the Audi. He made it. I jumped off the hood, pushing my way through people to see him. I wasn't sure what his reaction was going to be but I need to see him. He got out of the car grinning like a Cheshire Cat. His friends shove him congratulating him. I still can't believe he made it.
"What the fuck Josh, you almost killed him!" James yells shoving the Josh guy on his shoulders.
"It's was a fucking mistake, I didn't know he was already turning," Josh says, smirking. It didn't look like a mistake.
"Where is Sun?" I exclaimed when I didn't see the guy we took off with.
"I'm sure they are right behind them," Jana says winking. I nodded still not feeling calm. We were in the desert, for all I know that guy she was with was dangerous. I'm gonna give her 5 more minutes before I call hers
"Tyler," I say pushing part the girls next to him. He ignored me talking to some blonde bitch with horrible lip fillers.
"Tyler!" I yelled once more, but he still ignored me. I look away embarrassed, fuck him. He girls chuckled at my failure. I move away from the crowd going back onto James car, deciding it was time to call Sun. I wanted to leave.
"Where the fuck are you Sun!" I yelled once she picked up. I used to her disappearing at parties but at least I knew the people there.
"Chill, I'm with Zack. He's cool" she laughs, I'm guessing the guy she took of with.
"Sun! You can't just leave me"
"I didn't leave you, we just decided to chill somewhere else" I laughed at her stupid explanation.
"Well, I'm not gonna leave until you get back and I'm ready to go now but I can't leave you," I tell her if something hall to her I would hate myself.
"Stop worrying Bells, I see you soon, don't get too drunk. One of us needs to be able to drive!" She says before hanging up. I look down at the phone is disbelief. Picking up the bottle of Jack, I drake my sorrows. Once again I watched as the crowd enjoyed and seemed happy. Tears burned in my eyes but I wasn't going to let them fall.
"What's wrong?" I looked up at the Sarah girl, I took in her appearance. She was really pretty. She long silky brown hair, she could pass for an ASH. But her clothes gave her away. She wasn't wearing anything with a name, her attitude wasn't disgusting. She didn't walk like she owned everyone, the way she carried herself was different.
"Nothing," I tell her taking a drink
"Your friend bailed?" She asked
"Something like that" I wanted to laugh. I wasn't even upset about Sun leaving, I used to that. I was angry at Tyler. At how pathetic I looked, I was Bella Thomson. I can't be chasing after a guy. Let alone a guy like Tyler with no trust fund to his name. My mother would be ashamed if she saw me right now. I scanned the area for Tyler and found him sitting around a fire with people dancing. He was smoking a cigarette. Sarah's eyes followed and she let out a soft laugh.
"Go to him" I looked at her as if she had two heads
"I'm the last person he wants there"
"He wants you, trust me"
"He has Adriana" I mocked her name
"That bitch, he doesn't want her. He cares for her but he doesn't want her. If she didn't get knocked up by her bastard of a stepdad he wouldn't be with her to save her reputation" my eyes widened. The baby wasn't his! Not that I cared. He could fuck the world if he wants.
"Wow" I didn't know shit like that still happened
"If you want him, go to him. I've caught him looking down here as well" She was encouraging me. I gave her the bottle of Jack, smiling. I jumped off the hood ready to make my way to him but a bunch of bikers came at us. Everyone got silent, I looked at Sarah whose eyes widened in fear and dread. Someone people started making their ways to there cars. Practically running. Am I missing something?
The bikes stopped, there was about six. Both the one of the front was in charge, I could tell. They waited for him to get off before they did. They all looked old, they definitely weren't high schoolers or college students. Just looking at them I knew they were bad news, what were they doing here?
