Chapter 8: First Kill

Justin's POV:

After Abby's little stunt, I told her off about it. "Whatever Justin." She said, as she walked off to the bathroom. "Celia, can you do me a solid?" Mike asked. "What's that?" She asked. "Can you go fight Abby?" He asked. I rolled my eyes. "Sure thing." She said, as she took a step. I stopped her. "No. Don't do that." I said. "Dude did you not see what she just did? I'm actually surprised Angel didn't sock her ass." He said. So am I. Me too. "Well she didn't. So let's just leave it. Come on, we have to go get changed." I said. We walked to the bathrooms to change. "Ya know Justin." Mike said. "What's up?" I asked. "I had hella respect for you before Abby came into the picture. But now all that shit is out the window." He said. I was taken aback by his words.

"Michael." Is aid, slamming the bathroom door. "I've never did anything to you. What's your problem?" I asked, irritably. "Nigga what you mean? You letting Abby run you like you her bitch. She disrespects you, she runs over you, she puts you down, she cheats on you, she disrespects YOUR fucking mate and you let all this shit happen. Like where's your backbone at dawg? You supposed to be this boss ass assassin yet you letting a hoe ass, disrespectful ass bitch boss you around and make you her bitch. Man, from what I seen today, and all these years, that little girl, Tasha, is a better boss than you right now." He said. He said that in his New York accent. Oh he's big mad. He always talk like that when he's super pissed. So you know he's not playing. Yeah. I need to calm him down.

"Listen Mike. I know I haven't been standing up to Abby like you want me to, but I don't want to. I do want Abby to know Angel is my mate. If she does, she'll never leave." I said. "If you don't get a move on, another nigga will. Or worse, Colin. And you know Colin works quick with girls. You gotta do something soon man." He said. "I will. I'm gonna tell Abby it's over and talk to Angel." I said. He smiled. "So we good?" I asked. He dapped me up. "We been good bro." He said. We walked out to see Annie, Bishop, Angel and them walking to the elevator. I felt a tug on my shirt. I turned, expecting to see Mike. Turns out he walked over to Kacey and Celia. I turned to my side but saw no one. Then hands covered my eyes.

"Guess who?" She said in a playful tone. "Abby not now man. I wanna get my work done and go home". I said, as I pulled her hands away from me. "Look baby, I'm Sorry bout throwing the knife at Angel. I was jealous." She said. She began to fake cry. "I'm trying ya know." She said, through fake tears. It didn't faze me. I turned around and grabbed Mike and made him walk me out. "She fake cry again?" He asked. "Yep." I said. "Fake ass bitch." He said. We walked to the stairwell and went down them. We walked outside to where everyone else was. Trey transformed into a wolf and took off. Angel got into a car and drove off. I transformed and followed them. She stopped but that was because she wanted to know where Trey was going.

When we got to her first location, she wanted to be seen in the stands because she never been to a game before. I've been to a few but it was never with a girl. Unless it was my Mom. And Alison but she was a few months old at the time. Angel and I almost kissed though. We got lost in each other's eyes. I bit my lip as she but hers. I wanted nothing more to kiss her and make love to her right here but the sound of a baseball hitting a bat scared us both. She managed to think of an idea to take out her target, who was the announcer guy. She cut the power and took him out with ease. She made a joke about her wanting to fuck him but I didn't find it funny. We managed to leave before anyone saw us.

Not bad for her first kill. We got away but when I flew behind the trees, she recognized me as the dragon who saved her life from Grey. She got mad but that was cut short by three guys who saw us. "Well, well, Well. What do we have here?" Dude one asked. "Who are y'all?" Dude two asked. "Um, we're, um." Angel stuttered. "Um unless you got Parkinson's, bitch talk right." Dude three said. Angel looked at me. I decided to play dumb and I kissed her. I kissed her with so much passion. I didn't want to stop but I had to. Her vanilla scent filled me up. I wrapped my arms around her body and pulled her close to me.

She filled me up so much, I felt so high touching her. "I was tryna have a romantic night with my girlfriend but you assholes are ruining that." I said, looking up at them. They were in stunned silence. I looked down at Angel. She was too. "Oh. Well y'all better get out of here and don't come back. Out power just went out." Dude two said. "We'll take out leave thank you." I said, as I moved Angel behind me, mostly to hide the dead body of the announcer guy. The three of them walked off back towards the gates of the baseball field. I blew a breath and turned around to see Angel staring at me. "Sorry bout that. I had to think of something. We're trained for that too. You gotta be quick with your brain." I said. She nodded.

"You okay?" I asked. She nodded. She grabbed the body and dragged it to the car. "Yeah. I usually fly the bodies back to AA but we can get you to your next target." I said. She shrugged. It drove me crazy, her not speaking a word on what just happened. I flew low enough in case she said something but she didn't. We get back to AA and still not a word from her. She drops the body off and gets back into the car. I flew overhead but stayed at her speed. Oh man. I don't like this. She's probably never gonna talk to us again. She has to. She's my mate. She's not speaking now. She's probably still in shock. She's not shocked at the dead body she carried. True. Oh man. She's probably thinking of ways to quit.

She can't quit. Annie will kill her. That's what she would rather than be with you. I flew to Angel's next target, a bar mitzvah clown. She pulled up and parked. She got out and walked inside. I landed and followed her in. I looked around and saw her hiding behind a big plant. I watched her as she waited til the dude got closer to her. That's it. I walked over to her and yanked her by her arm into the bathroom. "What's your problem? I was about to take him out." She said, irritably. "Okay, one, you were about to take out a dude in light. Two, what's your problem? Your not talking like you were earlier." I said. "It's nothing." She said. She tried to make her way around me. I blocked the door. "Angel what's wrong?" I asked.

"Nothing okay? Can we just take this guy out now?" She asked, angrily. "No. Something is wrong with you." I said. "Okay yeah. There's something wrong with me. One, you the guy who saved my life and you didn't say shit. Two, I just joined a deadly Association and I'm supposed to go along with this like I'm okay with killing people. Three, I just found out my best friend has moved Brazil without saying goodbye. Four, I'm moving to a different house and a different school soon. Five, I'm supposed to become a magical being next week and I'm scared that I won't be able to control myself or my powers. And six, you just kissed me. Your somebody else's boyfriend. It's wrong Justin. Cheating is wrong." She said. "Angel, I'm sorry your now entering your world but we have no choice." I said.

She leaned against the wall. I did too. "You don't think that every day of my life I've wondered what it'll be like if I was human or not an assassin. But I'm in this world and I can't back out. You have a choice." I said, looking at her. "No. I had a choice. This all happened because of this party I went to. I got drunk and walked to McDonald's to eat and this Grey character jumps me and almost rapes me and because I brought it up, my Dad wants me and Tasha to be involved in this assassin world. I don't want her around this. She just went through a traumatic experience and now this? It's too much for her young, little brain." She said. "Yeah. I heard she almost drowned at the water park." I said.

"It was an accident." She said. "I believe you." I said. It grew silent after that. She then looked at me. "What would you do Justin? If you were human and had no knowledge of this place?" She asked. I thought about it. "Probably move somewhere far from here. I don't want to be apart of a world where humans automatically think that when they see a magical being, that all we want to do is kill them. That's not me. If my life were a lot simpler, I'd be a lot happier." I said. "What do you mean? You got a girlfriend, a well paid job, you have after school clubs, amazing friends, and a rich life. What's not to like?" She asked. "Angel, having luxuries is bored as hell when you have no one to be happy and share it with." I said. "You have Abby." She said.

I blew a breath and sat down on the floor. She did the same. "No. I don't want Abby. She's a bitch for no reason. I can't even talk to my girl cousins without her getting jealous. That's why she threw the knife at you. She's jealous of you. I've been wanting to break up with her but I just never have the guts to do it because she flips out and throws a fit. I tried it today that's why she ran. Mike was right. She's controlling me and I let it happen. I'm not trying to. I just don't want her to throw a fit at the next girl I date. She'll make our lives a living hell. She's insufferable. I can't take it anymore." I said. She grew silent. "Well you gotta break free from her. It's not healthy that she's living her best life while making yours a living hell." She said.

"Thanks but like I said, every time I break up with her, she throws a fit and storms out." I said. "Let her. She's a teenager now. She ought to know not everything in life goes her way. Though I don't want Annie to do anything to her because threw a knife at me." She said. I looked at her. "Angel how did you get caught up in this world? You are so sweet." I said. She giggled. "Thanks but I'd really rather forget this all happened." She said. That hurt. The way she made it sound like she didn't want me. "Oh I mean this assassin thing. Justin I'd think me and you would meet in a different timeline. Just not the way of killing people." She said. "Angel before you acne along, I was doing this. Meaning I'd still be doing it after I met you." I said.

"Well....you right." She said. We shared a laugh before looking at each other. I leaned forward as she did. Before our lips touched, the door flung open. "Oh my bad. Didn't realize people were in here." The man said, as he walked out. "That's the clown you supposed to kill." I said. "Right. Let's get right on it." She said. I helped her up and we walked out the bathroom. Angel told the clown to go back in but a few minutes later, she went in behind him. I blocked the door to make sure no one went in. After a minute, she came out. "Wanna help me? He's heavy." She said. I walked in and cleaned up the blood. I helped her carry the body out the window. "Go out the front." I said. She nodded and walked out the bathroom. I looked at the dead clown. "She did a number on you." I said to myself.

I dragged the body around the building to the car. "I'll take this home. Go to your next target." I said. "But-" I cut her off. "Angel I'll meet you there love. Just go ahead. Don't kill anyone yet." I said, as I transformed and flew the body back to AA. I flew overhead but saw wolves running below me. I recognized two. Mike and Trey. Where they coming from? Let's find out. I decided to spook them a bit. I flew ahead of the and dropped the dead body. They stopped and looked up. Mike growled and snarled at me. They picked up their dead bodies and ran. I flew low and scooped up mine. I flew alongside them to AA. "You okay too much." Mike said, as I landed. I laughed at him. "Don't get mad at me cause you scary." I said. He stuck his middle up at me.

I cackled and flew off towards the gym. I landed behind a dumpster and transformed. I looked up  and saw Angel talking at a man. And who the hell is this? "Aw come on pretty thing." The guy said. "No man. I'm not fucking. So leave me alone." She said. The guy stepped closer to her. A two other guys got out a  car and surrounded her. "Come on pretty girl. Let us show you a good time." The dude said. Oh hell no. I quickly ran up to her side. "Hey babe. Thanks for waiting for me. Who are our new friends?" I asked, wrapping my arm around her. The guys looked at me and smirked. "We were just talking to pretty lady." Said the dude. "Yeah. We wanna show her a good time." Another dude said. That's when I got an idea. I walked up to them and wrapped my arms around him. "How bout show me a good time?" I asked, in a flirtatious way.

He backed off. "Oh hell man. Get outta here with your gay ass." The dude said. "Man we out." The other dude said. The three of them got in the car and left. I turned Angel. She was smiling. "What?" I asked. "You really are quick with your brain." She said. We oughta give her brain to show her how good it is. Shut it. Later Damon. "All this training and after school clubs sharpens my mind." I said. "Reading sharpens my mind." She said. I was surprised. "You read?" I asked. "Oh yeah. I'm the bookworm of the family." She said. I got a bad bitch as a mate and she reads. "There he is." She said. I looked up to see her final target of the night. I looked at the target to see a young man sitting at a table surrounded by girls. I looked at Angel.

"What's wrong?" I asked. She looked at the paper then at the boy. "I know that dude. He's from my school. He's a nice person. I can't kill him." She said. "He's an ex boyfriend or something?" I asked, sadly. "What? No. I had a small crush on him back in middle school but I got over it. Anyway, he's a sweet person. How can he be a dangerous person?" She asked. "Angel I'm sorry but we have to kill him." I said. She looked at me. "Easy for you to say. You've never killed anyone you know is innocent before." She said, harshly. I grew silent. "Justin I'm sorry. It's just, this killing scene is gonna be hard to adapt to." She said. "I know. And your wrong. I've had killed someone I know is innocent but it's their lives or ours." I said. She looked at me. "You killed-" I cut her off.

"Yeah. I killed Abby's older brother and sister. They were twins. I had to kill them both. They poisoned a bunch of people at a church, pretending they were doing good deeds. When really they wanted to see them die." I said. She grew silent. "They were KKK members and they had poisoned food and drinks and they killed two churches full of black people. They even destroyed a black child's birthday party and ran over a bunch of people. I was happy to kill them but I knew Abby would resent me for it. She knew I was an assassin as a kid. She wondered if it was me who did it but I could never bring myself to tell her. Somehow I felt she knew it was me. She just won't say she knows. Abby looked up to them and they wanted to turn her racist too but I didn't want that." I continued.

"So what happened?" She asked. "Abby asked my Dad and he told her it was me." I said. "But I thought kids weren't allowed to be assassins til their older?" She asked. "That's right. I did something bad at a young age and I got in hella trouble for it. Abby hates me because of what I did but she forgave me and said she moved on. Years past and she shows no signs of moving on or forgiving me." I said. "That's probably why she makes your life hell. She wants you to feel pain the way she felt when found out you liked her siblings." She said. "I said I was sorry. I apologized. I did everything I could to make her happy and make her forgive me but she doesn't. I don't know what to do anymore." I said.

"I understand how she feels. That day when Tasha almost drowned, I felt like I was being punished for something I didn't do. I felt like a part of me almost died. If she did, I would have too. I can't live with the guilt knowing I caused my little sister's death." She said. I looked at her. "I know. That's what I'm tryna do for my little brother and sister. My little brother, Otis wants to come with my on my night hunts because he thinks he's ready but he's not. It's so much responsibility he has to take on. He's too young to understand and I want him to know that. He thinks he's capable of taking on Grey when none of us can catch him. Not even the big dogs can catch him." I said. "Whose the big dogs?" She asked.

"The big dogs are the ones who are qualified to go after any target, now matter how high or dangerous their criminal target is. And Grey's at the top. He's our number one priority." I said. "How come your not up there?" She asked. "I don't know. As much people as I killed, I'm still not up there. I've managed to find Grey more times than anyone yet my Dad doesn't think I'm qualified to take someone like him on. I've caught him that time at Carowinds. I caught him one time in Argentina. And I caught him with you. Yet no one wants me to be a big dog. My Mom says it's because I'm too young but I know I'm ready." I said. "Justin I think Otis is taking after you. If he sees that your ready and able to do this, he's gonna become like you." She said. I looked at her.

"He's young. He's a kid. Kids take after their older siblings so if they see you make a mistake or do something bad, they'll copy you and think it's okay cause you did it. That's why we're careful with what we do with Tasha around. If she sees or heard us doing something bad, she'll do it. That's why I'm so against this assassin thing. If she kills, I'm worried she'll become addicted to it. I don't want to have her as a target." She said. I heard pain in her voice. I turned to her and saw a tear in her eye. I wiped it away. "Your right. But Tasha is now exposed to our lifestyle Angel. I'm worried about the exact same thing with Otis and Alison. I'm worried their began killing on their own. I don't want to see their names come up and have them become my targets. I'd hate to see that." I said.

"That's why I so against this. Trey and my Dad and my Mama all want me to be in on this when I'm more worried about Tasha. I don't want her to decide to kill on her own or hav ever become my target or someone else's." She said. I saw something in the corner of my eye. I saw the guy and girls stand up to leave. "Well Angel we cant feel sorry for ourselves. That's guy's about to leave. If he's not dead by 4 a.m., your ass is grass." I said. She looked at me. "We have to kill our target before morning or it's us that's gonna for. Well your gonna die because it's your target." I said. Her eyes widened. "But they'll give you a second chance, but they'll be there to watch to make sure you don't get cold feet or anything or see if you have ties to that person." I said.

She looked at the guy. "I guess I have to kill him." She said. Another tear escaped her eyes. I wiped them away too. "I'm sorry Angel. I know it's hard but it's you or them." I said. She nodded and stood up and walked inside. I watched her talk to the boy. She rubbed up on him and pushed him onto the booths. She then kissed him and undid his belt. I got jealous and angry. She then grabbed his hand and lead him to the bathroom. That's your cue. I know. I stood up and walked to the back of the building. I seen her push half of his body out the window. "You got it?" She asked. "Yeah." I said. I pulled it through and walked to the car. She met me there when she came out the front. I set the body of the ground.

"Congratulations Angel. You've successfully made your first kills. Now you can kill without anyone with you. And your done. You can go home now." I said. "Wait how am I gonna get the bodies out myself?" She asked. "You gotta figure it out. I told you. We gotta have fast brains. My advice: try to lure them outside. It'll be quicker and quieter." I said. "Hey Justin?" She asked. I turned to her. "Thank you." She said. I smiled at her. "Your welcome." I said. "We should do this again sometime." She said. I looked at her. "I can't come with you next time." I said. "No I mean like hang out. Like at a baseball game or basketball game or hell at a bookstore or something. Just hang out." She said. My heart raced and filled with joy.

"I'd loved that." I said. "So I go home now?" She asked. "Yep." I said. "I gotta return the outfit first." She said. "Actually their magical. They wash and clean themselves. All you have to do is take them off and they'll transport and wash themselves at AA so you can use them tomorrow. They'll appear when you say the words night clothes." I said. "Really?" She asked. I nodded. "Don't say those words in public. Humans don't need to know about us." I said. "Again thanks." She said. Then out of nowhere, she hugged me. I hugged her back. I sniffed her hair and they smelled just like her. "Wait don't you gotta do your kills?" She asked. "I'll do em as soon as this guy hits AA." I said, motioning to the dead body on the ground.

"You sure you'll be fine after helping me out tonight?" She asked. "I'll be fine Angel. I've been doing this for years." I said. She narrowed her eyes at me. "How old are you?" She asked. "18." I answered. "I'm 17." She said. "Good to know. When's that's bday?" I asked. "Not for six months." She said. I smiled. "Good to know." I said. She giggled the turned around to get in the car. I then thought back to the night Grey attacked her. "Hey Angel?" I called. She looked at me. "I'm sorry Grey attacked you and messed up your food. I'll repay you with McDonald's next weekend." I said. She smiled. "Thank you. Goodnight Justin." She said. "Goodnight Angel." I said. I watched her drive away. I looked at the dead body on the ground. I transformed, put the body in my claws, and flew to AA. Tonight is the best night of my life.
