That week Taehyung did not show any signs of rejection to the suppressant drug and he and Jungkook were able to finally go back to University. Thanks to the cramming he had done the weeks before, Jungkook hadn't fallen too far behind. He, however, had decided to complete his last semester taking double classes to be able to get his basic psychology certificate and finish school at the university at the same time as Taehyung. He planned to end his schooling there and help Taehyung with his duties as the soon to be Council Head, but Taehyung refused to let him give up his dream. So Jungkook decided to finish his degree online, so he can be home to support Taehyung and also finish school.
Jimin and Yoongi had moved to the pack community not long after Taehyung and Jungkook had moved out of the dorms. Not long after, Yoongi became the Alpha of the pack. Although Jimin was not a wolf they treated him like precious treasure. The whole pack became very protective of their fairy Luna, and often would be seen escorting him to all his classes giving low grows to anyone who came near him. When Jimin's gift finally presented itself, he couldn't have been more happy. The wolf's ability to talk to each other telepathically helped with their strong bond. So, when Jimin developed the gift of telepathy, it was as if he was exactly where he was meant to be.
The end of the semester came quickly and Taehyung, Jimin, and Yoongi all officially graduated. Jungkook passed all his finals and left that semester with his first certification in Psychology. Now that Taehyung had graduated, he would undergo his training for his position as the new Council Head. To begin his training, he would be meeting with the fairy elder that had performed the bonding ritual between him and Jungkook.
"Has the elder said what he will be teaching you?" Jungkook asked watching Taehyung get ready for his first day.
"He will be mostly teaching me the history of the council; you know he is almost 300 years old?" Taehyung asked.
"What? He looked like maybe 60." Jungkook replied watching Taehyung try on his 4th shirt.
"I know! I guess fairy elders live a long time, so they can pass on our history. It's actually kind of cool, he has basically been there to see everything." Taehyung said excitedly.
"That's pretty cool. Now can you explain why you are trying on your 6th shirt? The man is 300 years old; I don't think he will care what shirt you wear." Jungkook teased.
"Are you feeling a little jealous there Jungkookie?" Taehyung said with a smirk looking at Jungkook through the mirror.
"NO. Why would I be jealous? Because you are dressing up for a lesson with an old man, that's never been married…" Jungkook says trailing off looking away.
Taehyung just laughs and walks toward a sulky Jungkook. He sits on his lap and wraps his arms around his neck. Jungkook turns to him with a pout and whines.
"You are such a baby, why are you jealous? Our souls are literally connected and why would I look at a 300 year old fairy when I have a gorgeous strong alpha Amarok at home, hm?" Taehyung said leaning and kissing Jungkook's pout away.
"Is still don't trust that guy." Jungkook said with a huff. "Just wear something that covers you well, ok? Loose clothes and no jewelry!" He added as Taehyung rolled his eyes and went back to the closet.
After an hour of trying on clothes and Jungkook rejecting everything, Taehyung gave up and let him pick instead. Jungkook picked a loose white button up shirt, and black pants that were a little as well. Taehyung cringed at the sight of such little color, and how he was almost swimming in the shirt. He groaned at how plain he looked but he wore it anyway, just this once he will let Jungkook win.
After the bonding ceremony, it seemed to have awaken more of Jungkook's alpha side and he had been displaying a lot more wolf behavior that Taehyung found both adorable and annoying. Now every time he would leave the house, Jungkook would scent him. Which was funny to Taehyung at first, because only other wolves could smell the scent. Although there were werewolves on the council, they had all been undergoing suppression treatments and would not be able to pick up Jungkook's scent anyway. So even though it proved useful at university, now it was a little redundant.
"Jungkookie I really need to go, I am going to be late." Taehyung said trying to escape his clingy mate.
"How long will you be gone?" Jungkook asked holding Taehyung tight around the waist.
"Before dinner, I promise!" Taehyung said.
"Ok. Should I cook your favorite dinner then?" Jungkook asked.
"Of course! You know how much I love your cooking. Now I really must go! I'll see you later ok?" Taehyung said finally being released and heading out the door.
Jungkook stood in front of the door and pouted before turning and walking toward his game room and flopping down onto the couch.
In the car Taehyung took out his phone and dialed Jimin's number.
"Hello hoe!" Jimin answered.
"What? You are the hoe remember?!" Taehyung retorted.
"Oh really, do we need to discuss what happened the summer before last again?" Jimin teased.
"No! Let's never speak of that summer, it's too embarrassing!" Taehyung groaned covering his face with his hand.
Jimin laughs. "So, what's up?"
"I was wondering if you or Yoongi-hyung could keep Jungkook company today. It's my first day of training, and he seemed extra clingy. Not exactly sure how well he going to take with me being gone."
"Ah, I see. Yeah Yoongi gets the same way, that's why we are pretty much attached at the hips." Jimin said laughing. "How did we end up with such whiney clingy alphas as mates? Here I thought they were the strong silent type."
Taehyung laughed. "I know! What happened to them?"
"The power of being a fairy, you can turn even the coldest alpha into a ball of goo!" Jimin said. "Anyway, yeah we can stop by and keep the pup company for a while!"
"Pup? You better not call him that or he will ripe your head off, and then go back to whining." Taehyung teased.
"Trust me, the pack would beat him up if he gets too close to me. He has no chance against my pack!" Jimin said confidently.
"Your pack? I thoughts Yoongi was the alpha?" Taehyung said sarcastically.
"Yeah he is, but they love me more." Jimin said happily.
"You are drunk on power, how do I put up with you?" Taehyung said.
"Oh please, you love me!" Jimin says.
"That's debatable!" Taehyung replied.
Jimin let out an offended shriek before Yoongi's voice came over the phone.
"Hey Tae! Are you hurting my luna's feelings?" He asking jokingly.
"Of course not, I would never do that!" Taehyung says trying to sound innocent.
"So the kid is pouting today huh?" Yoongi asks.
"Yeah, he was pretty reluctant to let me leave, and since he is a bit complicated and new to these alpha emotions I am a little worried how he will do today." Taehyung admitted.
"Well, it sounds like more of his alpha side is showing. What did the doctor say about it?" Yoongi asks.
"They couldn't tell us much; they are still are not sure how it even happened in the first place. The Amarok community doesn't keep records of families really, so there is no way of knowing at what point a werewolf mated with one of his past family members. It's a mess. But since the bonding, it seems more of his alpha side is showing. He is used to not feeling much emotion, so now with this I am not sure how he will handle everything. He keeps scenting me every time I leave the house." Taehyung said with a giggle.
"Yeah, he is just being protective. It's more of an instinct for him at this point, he probably doesn't realize why he feel like he has to. It's his protective and possessive side, but right now since its new to him he is acting on instinct and not thinking. It may be time for him to have some training as well! I'll talk to him and try to explain these things to him." Yoongi replied.
"Oh! that would be great if you could! I don't want him being as sad as he was today, and I can't stay with him all the time." Taehyung said feeling guilty.
"Don't worry Tae, he will get better. He just needs to understand why he feels that way, and that you are not leaving for good. He may whine but eventually he will be fine. Me and Jimin will go keep him company, but if you have time you should video chat with him. It will help if he can be sure you are ok." Yoongi said saying his goodbyes and handing the phone back to Jimin.
"Thanks for doing this Chim! I owe you!" Taehyung said letting out a sigh of relief.
"You owe me a night out that's for sure! We haven't gone out in so long! Clingy wolves!! I need a break." Jimin huffed.
"You were just saying how much you loved them all, and now you can't wait to get away!" Taehyung said annoyed.
"Yeah, it's nice and all but I need my space too!" Jimin said loud enough for anyone around him to hear.
Taehyung laughed and thanked Jimin again before hanging up. He loved his adorable pouty baby, but he didn't want him to stay sad when he was gone. Taehyung hoped Yoongi would be able to help Jungkook.
Soon, he arrived at the Council building and was shown into the little room that they had performed the bonding ceremony in. The room was empty, so Taehyung took a seat and waited for the elder to arrive. While he waited, he looked around the room, and was overwhelmed by how many books there were. The last time he was here he was to nervous to notice much. Some of the books looked very old, and had writing on them that Taehyung didn't recognize. His eyes wondered along the wall behind him skimming over the titles until one caught his eye. 'Council v. Amarok' was the title, and Taehyung reached out to grab it when the door opened. He moved his hand away and turned quickly in his seat.
"Mr. Kim, nice to see you." Said the elder.
"Hello, elder." Taehyung said standing and bowing to him. "It's nice to see you too."
The elder reached his hand out offering Taehyung to sit again. The elder took a seat in a chair next to the couch and smiled softly as they settled in.
"Are you feeling nervous about meeting me today?" The elder asked.
"Maybe a little." Taehyung admitted. "I wasn't really sure what to expect."
"I am sure you have been told about what to expect from your training from your mother, correct?" The elder asks leaning forward.
"She covered the basics but she didn't say what I would be learning here with you." Taehyung said a little nervous again.
"Well, I am basically a living history book. We will go over some basic history of the creatures that live under the council's care, and some of the council's own history as well. It is important to know about the past to not make the same mistakes in the future, do you not agree?" He asks smiling.
"Yes, I do." Taehyung said still a little nervous.
"First, I would like to ask how you and, Jungkook was it? How are you both since the bonding ritual? Any negative effects?" The elder asks.
"Oh, I would have though they told you what happened after." Taehyung said a little surprised.
"I am informed of things when the council feels it is necessary, although I have my sources." The elder said winking. "So why don't you tell me what happened."
"Well, we didn't feel any effects until we returned home that day. Then Jungkook had a really bad headache, bad enough that the doctor had to make him sleep. It took all night for him to recover and when he did, we were able to speak to each other telepathically. We haven't had a need for it so far, but I guess at some point it can be a useful thing." Taehyung said smiling.
The elder looked slightly concerned and confused.
"Has anything else changed with Jungkook?" He asks.
"Uh, yeah. The doctor discovered he has alpha DNA, and since the bonding his alpha qualities have slowly been becoming more apparent." Taehyung replied
The elder didn't say anything at first. He sat back in his chair and looked toward the section of books that Taehyung had been looking at earlier.
"Is something wrong?" Taehyung asked concerned.
"It is an unusual situation. I have not heard of an Amarok mating with a werewolf in quite a long time. Does Jungkook know which of his relatives he inherited the werewolf gene from?" The elder asked.
"We have tried to find out, but the Amarok community doesn't keep records of mating pairs. Since their community are so private about these things, they have never been able to keep records on those things. They think it may have been one of his grandparents on his mother's side. Jungkook's mother displays omega qualities we were told." Taehyung explained.
"I see." The elder said looking down at his hands.
The room was silent for a while. Taehyung could see something was troubling the elder, and he did not want to interrupt his thoughts. Whatever it was seemed to really effect the elder. Taehyung wanted to respect the elder's privacy, but he was curiuos about why the elder seemed so upset.
"Is this something me and Jungkook should be worried about?" Taehyung asked.
The elder let out a deep sigh and stood from his seat walking toward the door. He locked the door and turned to Taehyung with a sad look.
"There is something I should tell you, but it's a sensitive subject and the council has told us never to speak of it." The elder said walking over and taking down the book Taehyung had spotted earlier.
"Ok." Was all Taehyung could get out as the elder set the book on the table.
"I have been around for a long time Mr. Kim, and I have seen the council go from a small group of fairies to what it is today. But things weren't as harmonious as they are now. There were many issues with all the creature communities that were causing a lot of problems. Some were letting their natural instinct to overshadow their better judgment and it resulted in a lot of violence. One of the most dangerous groups were the Amaroks. You may know the basics about them, but there is a lot about them that people don't know. The council was still building and learning at the time, and because of that they made many mistakes. One of them was this case." The elder said turning the book toward Taehyung.
Taehyung opened and turned the first few pages until he reached the title page. Under the title words was two names, and one of the names was 'Jeon'. Taehyung's heart dropped at the name and he looked up at the elder with surprise.
"I hadn't put it together until now, but it seems this case is connected to your partner." The elder said apologetically.
"What happened with this case?" Taehyung asked.
"This was about 60 years ago, and in that time Amaroks were a lot like werewolves. In that they had a pack mentality as well. The problem was that their kind was more vicious and dangerous then werewolves, so when it came time for a new Alpha of the pack, the process was bloody, and many were killed. The council became more concerned when the violence began to affect other communities as well, when a Amarok took a werewolf omega as his mate." The elder said pausing.
"The girls name was Jeon Suyoung, and she had met an Amarok and they became mates. Mating with other creatures was unheard of back then, so when it was found out that an omega werewolf had mated with an Amarok they were brought before the council. Fighting between the werewolves and the Amaroks had turned so violent that the council had to find a solution. The couple was separated, and the Amarok was given the punishment of having to undergo suppression injections. Things got worse as the aggressive alpha Amaroks began searching outside their own kind for mates. The council wouldn't allow that, so they passed the law that at birth all male Amaroks would receive a highly concentrated dose of suppressants. This would stop their urge to mate based on scent and prevent them from venturing outside their community during their mating season." The elder paused again.
"What happened to Jeon Suyoung?" Taehyung asked softly.
"She was sent home to her family. Not long after, she found out she was pregnant. Her parent's came before the council again for advice about what to do with the child. They told them it was best for the child to remain with it's mother. Since Suyoung's mate had received the suppression injections, his emotions would be suppressed, and he would not be in a good position to care for the child. However, being separated from her mate Suyoung became weak as their bond faded. By the time she was in labor, she had very little strength left, and died in childbirth." The elder said, his voice cracking slightly.
"What happened to the child?" Taehyung asked feeling anger build up inside him.
"The child was a girl, and she was healthy and sweet. But her grandparents did not want to raise a half Amarok, so she was turned over to the council. On her arrival she too was injected with suppressants. They gave her to a woman in the Amarok community who had been unable to bear any children and was willing to raise the baby. I believe that child was Jungkook's mother." After saying those last words the elder fell silent.
No more was spoken between them for many minutes. Until the elder reached out and turned a few more pages in the book.
"But Mr. Kim, her fate was not the only one changed by these events. Many more things happened after…"
