Beatrice's phone lit up and vibrated near her indicating she received a message. She opened her phone and Benny just texted her about the info of the street race tomorrow Saturday.
The starting line is an hour away from here and is located on the city outskirts. The street race would occur at 7 pm sharp and the car meeting at 4 pm.
She already knew the place since it was where Benny usually held car races and it's away from local police hotspots.
Her face lit up and her lips curved upwards as she read the message, she couldn't wait to race again and feel the exhilaration brought by racing.
She knew it was illegal but that's one of the reasons why she couldn't stop, speeding up to pass the limitations of her car, and knowing law enforcement would give a chase brought her excitement.
She's been racing for years, got jailed, and was in an accident because of it, but she just couldn't stop. It was always pulling her in and she was captivated with it.
"Why do you look so happy looking at your phone?" Lucas asked as Beatrice was grinning all over the text she received.
"Why? Can't I just be happy?" she hid her phone and turned to the movie that was currently playing.
"I'm just curious, " Lucas stated as if he really wanted to know what made Beatrice so happy.
It was the first time he saw Beatrice looked so delightful and he wanted to know the reason why.
There was a feeling of curiosity and jealousy in him. Jealous because he also wanted to be able to put a smile on her lips. Jealous because Beatrice always scowls and never brightened up at him but did so easily at her crushed phone. He wanted to know how he could make her smile like that so brightly and be the reason why she could make that expression on her face.
"Oh right, I'll be meeting someone tomorrow."
'Was that the reason why she looks so cheerful today?' Lucas couldn't help but wonder who is the person she's meeting up tomorrow.
"Is it a guy?"
"Does it matter if it's a guy?" Beatrice looked at him with a confused face.
He looked at her quite upset and troubled but then he turned as cold as ice.
"Yes, if it's a guy then I won't allow you to meet up with him" Lucas stated with a stoic face, and Beatrice couldn't believe what he said.
"I'm not asking permission! I'm just letting you know! So even if it's a guy or not, even if you tell me not to, I'll be meeting up the person tomorrow." Lucas may be stubborn but she's more stubborn and she won't back down that easily.
Lucas sighed knowing he can't win, "Who are you meeting up with tomorrow?"
"Just a friend, and besides it's not a guy," Lucas felt relief hearing her and although he was still reluctant, he agreed on letting her go out.
"Oh Wow! You got a friend?"
Beatrice slapped his shoulder, "What do you think of me, idiot?!"
"Ok fine," he said, giving up while chuckling.
"And I might be late-" Lucas instantly stopped and glared at her but Beatrice just smiled at him "-but I'll come home before 11,"
Beatrice thought it was weird why she was telling all this to Lucas when she can leave anytime she wants. But there was a gnawing feeling that urged her to inform Lucas and she wanted to hear his consent.
"Fine but you should be here at 11," Beatrice nodded and tried to suppress her smile from his approval.
She pursed her lips and tried to focus on the movie again, but she fell in deep thought.
Sometimes she forgets that Lucas was the man that she hated. Sometimes she forgets that she was unwillingly forced to marry him and sometimes she forgets that they're married for each other's benefits.
Lucas was different when she was around, he was more playful and goofy. Lucas loves to tease her but she can't absolutely say that she hates it. She thought he was creepy and was an asshole, but he was like any other normal person and was much nicer than she beckoned him to be.
"My grandfather also said he wanted to see you."
Beatrice abruptly faced him with a shocked expression on her face. "Your grandfather?"
She heard that his parents were dead and that her grandfather was the only family he got left but she heard rumors that he was strict and has a terrible personality. Lucas's grandfather didn't even attend the wedding so she doesn't know what he looks like or if the rumors were true.
"W..why would he want to meet me?" Beatrice doesn't know why she got nervous all of a sudden with the thought of meeting his grandfather.
"Because you're my wife?" He said as if it was the most obvious thing in the whole wide world.
Oh right, she's married to him but if his grandfather really wanted to meet her why didn't he come to the wedding? Why would he suddenly call for them?
"You know we could just not go," Lucas noticed that Beatrice was feeling nervous and besides his relationship with his grandfather was not that good. So he would rather not go and see that old man once again.
"What? You're saying as if it's possible!"
Lucas chuckled and thought Beatrice was acting cute all of a sudden. "How is it not possible? If you don't like it then we could always turn him down and besides, I don't have that much of a good relationship with him"
Beatrice shook his head, "He's still your grandfather so it's better if we should go."
He shrugged and raised his shoulders, "Suit yourself and don't be so nervous wife, "
"When did I say I'm nervous?!.... So did he say when's he going to meet us?"
Lucas scoffed seeing Beatrice so defensive and the urge of teasing her resurfaced again.
"He said today."
Beatrice's eyes shot up as wide as they could be and she shifted her whole body at him. Her face was that of a mix of horror, confusion, and shock.
"What did you say?! Today?!" Lucas tried to resist laughing, seeing her indescribable face.
"Haha no, He'll meet us next week" Lucas bursted out laughing and Beatrice felt both irritated and embarrassed.
She really thought that Lucas was telling the truth and that his grandfather wanted to meet them today.
She kicked his leg and whacked his arms as she felt like she got played by him.
