Sudden call

"Don't tell me you forgot about it."

"I-"

"This is what our parents put out for us."

"I know. Its been years! How am I suppose to remember that stupid promise."

"You agreed to it, Leira. There's no turning back."

"Geez bro, We're in 21st century. I can't just follow whatever they asked me to do anymore." Leira sighed as she recalls back to her agreement with her parents before she came to Seoul.

"I told you not to catch feelings." The caller said meaningfully on the other side of the line. Leira's grip on her phone tighten.

"I'm hanging up. You...do whatever you want but stay out of this."

"You do know that they're not going to stay silent right?"

"I'll make them understand." She ended the call and leaned to railing of the balcony for a brief moment.

She tsked and went back inside.

"I should make my own asian drama."

Seunwo smiled at his colleagues when they cheered, welcoming him back.

"Our ace doctor has recovered!"

"The hospital is warm with you in it." One of the nurse said playfully making everyone laugh whole heartedly.

"Thank you. I hope I didn't give you too much trouble."

"Not at all, Seunwoo-ah. You worked hard. You deserve to rest." The head of the hospital said patting his shoulders like a father.

"So what did you do while you're resting?"

"He spends time with his girlfriend." Kai spoke up. Seunwo looked at him amused.

"Omo, Dr Han has a girlfriend? Have we met her?" One of the nurses said. Kai could see Elaine clenching her fist.

"Hmm, maybe once or twice. Let's just get back to work, okay?" He said good naturedly.

"Nice safe, doc."

"Let's not bring our personal life into this, Kai." Seunwo shook his head amused.

"I hope my son doesn't give you much trouble staying with you and your beau, Han." Mr Kim, the head of the hospital said as they walked to his department.

"Oh, I am a trouble alright." Kai snorted making Seunwo sighed. Mr Kim just laughed.

"When are you going to take him away, sir?"

"Soon. Isn't that right, Dr Kim?" Mr Kim said throwing his arm around his son's shoulders. Kai tensed briefly at that.

Seunwo just hummed, sending a look to his friend.

"I'll be going first, sir." He said and went to his office. Kai smiled at his father and followed the guy.

Kai opened the door, making Seunwo looked up to him.

"What?"

"I'm not going to back down any time soon, just saying." Kai said and closed the door, walking to his department, leaving unamused surgeon.

"That guy.." Seunwo tutted and carried on doing some revision on what he had left.

He sighed when the door knocked.

"What now Kai? I'm not giving up Leira." He said without looking up from his papers.

"U-um, Dr Han."

He looked up when he heard a female voice.

"Oh it's you. Sorry I thought it was Dr Kim."

Elaine shook her head and held on to the papers tightly. Seunwo looked at her questioningly, waiting for her to speak up.

"Do you need something Elaine?"

"Oh! Um, Dr Byun asked me to hand this to you. " Elaine cleared her throat and gave him the slightly crumpled papers.

"Thanks." Seunwo plastered his usual smile and went back to his work. Elaine bit her lip.

"..Seunwo."

"Hm?"

"The other day...I was serious."

Seunwo stopped flipping through the pages.

"I already have someone, Elaine. You know that."

"She's not even serious with you! . She has so many male friends that-"

"If she's not serious, I am." Seungwoo cut her off, meeting her eyes. He could see tears pooling in her eyes.

"I'm sorry, but I can't return your feelings. You had caused me enough trouble that day."

"You always being nice to me, I thought you could at least felt something for me." She said trying her best.

"Look, you're going to be a good doctor. Why don't you focus on that? You told me you wanted to be a well known surgeon right?" Seunwo said assuringly.

"I like you, Seunwo. I became a doctor because of you.." She started crying.

Seunwo furrowed his eyebrows at that.

"Elaine.. becoming a doctor, you have to do it to save lives. " He stood up to put on his lab coat. Elaine went to him, hugging him suddenly, he let out a long exasperated sigh.

He easily detached her from his body and held the top of her head with one hand.

"Please be professional." He said and left the room.

"What is this place again?"

"Dohyon's secret hideout." Chae shrugged. Hwiyun looked around the place again.

"I just saw Dohyon beheaded a person." Leira said flatly as she came in. The other two balked at her.

"Ah, too bad." Dohyon said when he too appeared behind Leira.

"I'm gonna have to kill you guys too."

"Oh thank god."

"Finally."

"Kill me please." Leira deadpanned, laughing after Hwiyun and Chae's retort. Dohyob shook his head amused.

He sat down on the sofa besides the male friend.

"May god forgive your sins."

"How come you never bring us here? I would stay here for days." Chae said rolling on the carpet nearby the fireplace.

"My client gifted it to me recently so I wanted to check it out."

"A house as a gift? I want your job." Leira said chuckling as she roam around the house.

"You were offered a pretty good job." Dohyon said pointedly. Leira let out a long sigh waving him off to drop the subject.

"So have we got any idea on what to do to that woman who broke our boy's heart?" She said folding her arms to her chest.

"Guys, cmon. I wasn't there for her so its natural for her to see someone else."

"Bullshit. Do you see me cheating on Seunwo? I see him once a week. If not a month." Leira rolled her eyes. Chae nodded in agreement.

"She's right, Hwi. What she did is uncalled for. Its not nice." Doyoung said pulling Leira to sit with them on the sofa.

"I think it's about time you tell us who the hell is the girl." Chae said making an unamused face.

"It's Naeun."

"Now, I understand why you wanted to hide her from us." Dohyon snickered. Leira sighed.

"I thought she's nice."

"Everyone is nice to you, Lei. Do you know the guy she cheated on you with?" Chae asked cocking up her left eyebrow.

"Tristan."

"Tristan?" Leira tilted her head confused. Chae balked and Dohyon just face palmed.

"Tristan from college? Are you effin kidding me?" Chae said slapping his shoulder to which he winced at the impact.

"She really went from having an unreal beautiful, kind hearted straight out of manga model to a friggin sleazy fuck boy?"

"Thanks Chae." Hwiyun laughed at her detailed compliment.

"But it is what it is. I guess I'm not good enough for her."

Chae pouted sadly and went engulfing him into a warm hug.

"Don't ever say that, sweetie. Your the best person that anyone could ever had." She patted his head. The latter just hugged her back, smiling.

"Chae's soft side is jumping out." Dohyon snorted and snap his finger as an idea popped in his brain.

"I know what we could do."

Leira raised her eyebrows at his playful tone.

"I don't know what idea popped out but I'm in."

"You have to persuade her, son. She only listens to you."

"She's all grown up now, dad. She can decide on her life on her own." The male said seriously.

"A promise is still a promise. We can't just cancel it after years of planning. What would they say about us?" The elder male said making him sigh.

"Fine. I'll try but if there's nothing I could do, I'm going to be on her side."
