Engagement

"Dinner?"

"Yeah." Leira said as she put on her earrings.

Seunwo just hummed and sat on the edge of the bed. She turned to him as she felt his eyes on her.

"I know I looked extra today. My dad..well he exaggerate. You don't have to judge me like that." She put her hand on the side of her hip, leaning to the side.

"I wasn't judging. You look beautiful as always." He chuckled assuring her.

"Do you want anything? I could bring them to you when I'm done."

"If its late then just head straight home, Lei. I'll be home in the morning."

"Mkay then."

"Say Hi to your brother, for me."He put his hands on the side her waist.

"Mkay."

"Be nice to your dad."

"....mkay."

Seunwo chuckled at her pause.

"Kbye, love you." Leira kissed his head and wiggled away, running down the stairs.

"Love you too." Seunwo said as he heard the front door closed.

"She's kind of late, abeoji." Kai said jokingly making the elders laugh.

"I'm sorry. She sometimes is a little bit of a rebel." The middle age man said apologetically. Kai grew curious.

"Rebel?"

"Ah yes, since my eldest son takes over my company, we were hoping that my daughter would eventually help him but being the free spirited she is, she chooses to pursue something she likes instead."

"What does she do now?" His father asked, carrying on the conversation.

"Archeology in SNU."

Kai paused at that. His father turned to him.

"Oh SNU? Kai here attended SNU too. Perhaps you have met her when you were studying there, Kai."

"Perhaps." Kai replied shortly. He felt his heart raced when the man gave his phone to him.

"This is her." The middle aged man said.

Taking the phone into his hand, Kai froze as he looked at the picture.

"Beautiful isn't she?" His father said patting his back.

"She is. Very. Father-"

"Ah finally, she's here." The mother exclaimed, cutting him off.

There she was, walking side by side with her brother.  As soon as their eyes met, Leira tilted her head.

"Kai?"

"Oh great, you two know each other." Leira's father spoke up as they reached the table.

"Fancy meeting you here." Kai said making her narrow her eyes at him jokingly.

"Literally."

The dinner went on smoothly with both families reminiscing their friendship where Kai's father met the both of Leira's parents during their study days. Her brother on the other hand kept silent to himself and only answers from time to time.

"Your mother is always keeping to herself while your father is more like a jock. Hearing how you are, I guess you got both of their traits." Kai's father laughed.

"Kai took your traits too." Leira's father said.

As the food safely eaten into their belly, Kai and Leira actually enjoyed the dinner. The elders insisted them to go ahead and walk around while they talk so that's what they did.

"Your parents are nice." Kai said chuckling.

Leira snorted.

"I guess."

They were walking around at the rooftop park, enjoying the night time view.

"Its funny." He started.

"What?"

"Rich kid gang gang?"

Leira laughed at Kai's remark.

"So how long are you planning to watch me?"

"I don't know till I'm not bored, I guess."

"This is confidential, you know."

"Yet you still let my eyes bore into you, Dohyon sir." 

"Because, you're Chaerin." He shrugged. She snickered.

"Exactly." 

Dohyon chuckled and continue drilling in the hidden door behind the bookshelves.

"Dodo."

"What?"

"Do you think I could get a relationship like Leira one day?" She asked, laying on her back on the floor with her legs up the sofa.

Dohyon stop drilling and turned to her with a judgeful face.

"You like having a relationship where you're both busy?" 

"No dumbass. It's how they still loved each other even though they always apart, ya know. Its cute." Chae hummed.

Dohyon sighed and took off his gloves. He sat beside her with an unamused smile plastered on his face. 

"Are you that lonely?"

"Kinda."

"Why?"

"I don't know. I'm on my period- Oh thats why." Chae giggled. He just shake his head with a soft smile.

"You're cute as always." He said and ruffles her hair before getting back to his work.

"Why are you looking at me like that, you weirdo." She said when Kai looked at her up and down slowly before plastering a boyish smile.

"Posh suits you."

"Yikes."

"Like my good friend once said 'I'm a sight to see' but I'm changing it to 'you're a sight to see'." He winked.

Leira shook her head amused.

"You're extra extra extra today huh."

"I don't know, maybe it's because of the food." Kai shrugged. Leira sighed, leaning to the railings.

"If Seunwo as hyper as you, I think I might die." She snickered.

"Which is why you should be with me instead." 

"Do you want me to throw you down from this 20th floor?" 

Kai laughed and put his blazer around her shoulder. Leira narrowed her eyes at him.

"Take care of yourself, Lei." He nudged her playfully.

"I am, I am. Don't worry."

"Come on, let's get back. Its late." Leira pulled his arm, going back to the restaurant.

They walked arm in arm to their table with their parents looking at them.

"We always hang out at night, don't you think? Want to try in bright daylight?" He grinned.

"Sure, we should drag Seunwo with us." 

"Right. I'm sure he don't mind being the third wheel."

"God, you just can't back down, don't you, doctor bones?" Leira laughed and pushed him away as they reached their table.

"I see you two get along fine." Mr Kim said. The Dr Kim also smile proudly at them.

"She's lovely as usual."

"He's weird as usual."

The elders laughed and nodded while looking at each other.

"Leira dear, do you remember your promise before you came here to study?" her father asked making her brother cursed inwardly.

"Shit about to go down." He thought to himself.

Leira froze when she said that. 

"What?"

"You're going to fulfil the promise today." Mr Kim said seriously.

"But dad-"

"Leira, we gathered today to announce your engagement with Dr Kim's son, Kai."

"I gave you heads up, don't look at me like that." Her brother sighed.

Leira groaned.

"I don't know if I should be happy that it's just Kai or anxious because it is Kai." 

"Huh why is that?" 

"Kai is Seunwo best friend, Wushin.." She said flatly. 

Wushin can't help but to raised his eyebrows, surprised.

"Be strong, Ra." 

"I am. I brought myself into this mess. Kai is in this because of me." Leira sighed.

"Oh don't worry about me, I'm in the favor right now. I like you remember?" Kai said nonchalantly.

"Kai I swear to god-"

"I know, I know. Now, think of something to tell Seunwo because I'm sure this news would be out by tomorrow."

She was ready to bang her head on the table but Wushin swiftly put his palm on her forehead so that she won't hurt herself.

"Get it together sis."

"What are you, my sister?"

Closing the front door with his leg, Seunwo brought the grocery bags to the counter. Having a couple hours before his shift, he decided to buy some wet food and snacks for Leira as she always cooks whenever she's bored at home.

Smiling to himself, he could imagine how happy Leira would be when she saw the fully stocked fridge. After a couple of minutes, he finally finished arranging and checked his phone just as his pager beeped.

But a certain news notification caught his attention.
