Unexpected

"Wow."

"You gotta be fucking kidding me."

"Exactly what Chae said." Hwiyun said putting down his phone.

"I finally got the job that I dreamed of and the second that I thought everything is going to be fine, my dad is marrying me off. Its freaking unbelievable." Leira said chuckling bitterly.

"Ironically its Kai. What a small fucking world."

Dohyon patted Chae's back soothingly, calming her down.

"How did this happen Lei?"

"We all made an agreement before she left." Wushin said closing his laptop while looking at his sister pointedly.

"Trust me, I wasn't expecting a marriage." Leira sighed and stood up from her seat, looking to the tall window.

They were gathering at Wushin's office in Gangnam Branch where he will have to handle while he's in the area.

"How is Seunwo hyung taking this?" The brother asked.

"I don't know. He didn't answer to my calls and he didn't even come home this morning."

"Kai?"

"I bet he's goddamn happy." Chae said flatly. Hwiyun sighed.

"Dude."

"He actually felt bad about it. Seunwo is still his friend, Chae." Leira said apologetically.

"I'm sorry its just that...I can finally see you guys happy and all of sudden its going away." Chae pulled Leira into a hug.

Seunwo was checking his patient's vital when Kai stood besides him.

"Let's talk."

"We're working right now, Dr Kim." Seunwo said monotonously.

"I don't care."

"Of course you don't." He sighed and stepped out of the ward.

"I could fire you if you won't come with me." Kai said holding his shoulder. Seunwo chuckled.

"Then do it." He shrug off Kai's hand.

"Fine, let's talk here. Are you finally giving up on her?"

The people around them looked at them questioningly.

Seunwo shook his head and went to his department office.

"Talk."

"Why are you avoiding her? She waited for you to come back this morning." Kai said flatly and closed the door loudly after sending other doctors out of the room.

"I'm not really avoiding her but I'm avoiding the subject. The surgery today is a risky one and I don't want personal things to affect me in any way."

"Bullshit." Kai spat.

"Shouldn't you be happy about this? You got her with a ring." Seunwo chuckled bitterly, leaning to his desk.

Kai balled up the doctor's shirt harshly but Seunwo showed no reaction.

"Happy? I'm fucking thrill."

"Great. Get off I have another surgery to perform." Seunwo eyes bore into his.

"Snap out of it. Why are you always hurting her?"

"I'm hurting her?"

Seunwo pushed Kai off him.

"Go to work, Kai." Seunwo straighten his lab coat.

"So you're not stopping the marriage?"

"Like I said I have a surgery. Wait in another 4 hours if you want me to punch your face."

With that he walked out of the room leaving annoyed Kim Kai.

"How does she stand him." Kai shook his head.

"Is he mad?"

"Scary really. I think he could even ignore you if he sees you."

"He would not. I don't-"

"Congratulations on your engagement!" A nurse said when she saw the two at the hospital lobby.

Leira winced at that.

"Thanks now go to work." Kai said flatly making the nurse bow and hurriedly walk away.

"This is too fast, too fast. Please let this be a dream." Leira hid her face in her palm.

Kai sighed and caressed her hair soothingly.

"This isn't you, where's that fierce Leira that went to ask a guy out on spot?"

"Oh, its the new engaged couple."

Leira looked up to the voice. Kai stopped touching her hair.

Elaine stood before them with a smirk plastered on her face. Leira could have sworn she wanted to smack her head with the nearest thing she could get her hands on.

"Nice catch Dr Kim, you're wifing a slut."

"Watch what you say, intern." Kai stepped in front of Leira.

"Elaine."

Seunwo's voice boomed startling the intern and she immediately went by him.

"Dr Han! I'm so sorry for what happened. I told you didnt I? She-"

"Leave us." He cut her off without even glancing at her.

Fuming, she stormed off before giving a glare to Leira.

"I'm going first, Lei." Kai patted her hair and left, giving them space.

"Seunwo."

"What are you doing here?" Seunwo said coldly making her frowned.

"You're not picking up my calls."

"And?"

"I want to talk to you."

"About what?"

"Look, are you really going to give me an attitude right now?" Leira rubbed her temple.

"I'm busy-"

"I came here because I was worried and to explain what happened but I guess not?"

Seunwo looked away.

"Just talk to me when you're ready." Leira said softly as she held his hand briefly before turning to the door out.

Seunwo watched her retreating figure and cursed inwardly.

"Come." He said and pulled her to an empty single ward room.

"You're ready to talk now?" Leira asked when he locked the door.

Seunwo crossed his arms to his chest, looking at her. She could've swear she was really attracted to his annoyed expression.

"Explain."

"Its arranged."

"Figured but Kai?" He cocked up his eyebrow.

Leira sighed.

"Apparently Kai's father is a close friend of my dad and they have been planning this their whole life."

Seunwo just hummed. He soften when he look at his anxious girlfriend.

"Han, I know this is absurb but please don't-"

Leira shut her mouth when he pulled her into his arms.

He kissed her hair softly and tightened the hug.

She could feel relieved wash over her when she's in his embrace. She slid her arms to his waist, dearly.

"I won't give up on you that easily, don't worry."

"You were ignoring me.

"Yeah, I guess I too can get jealous."

"Promise is a promise, Leira."

"Why do I have to marry out of all possibilities you could ask me for?" Leira bit her lip.

She felt hopeless as she stood in front her parents at their hotel suite.

"Shares. Kim Group owns multiple hospitals and hotel chains, Leira. You marrying him will strengthen our hold not only back in home but also here."

"Geez dad, I didn't know you were much of a gold digger." Wushin sighed.

"This is all for you two. I will not live long enough and getting old so I want my heir to continue the legacy." Mr Kim said as a matter of fact.

The two siblings felt like a mere slap in the face wont be enough to show what they're feeling when he said that.

"I dont want to." Leira said seriously. The father sighed.

"Why? Its not like you have someone at the moment. 23 is great age to marry."

"I already have someone."

"Oh....Son, you know about this?"

"I thought I told you before." Wushin sighed, getting tired of the drama. The father hummed questioningly.

"No you didn't? Why don't you tell me sooner Ra? I thought you don't have anybody." Their father said putting his hands at the side of his hips. Leira facepalmed.

Hard.

"God, dad!"

Wushin shook his head at his father in dismay while he stood up from the sofa.

"Why do you have to put us into a mental stress?"

"Like I said, I didnt know! ." Mr Kim said not backing down.

"Whatever, I'm going back to the office."

"Yeah, I think I have a headache." Leira said taking her chanel purse.

"Introduce me to him Ra! Wushin you dont have to talk her out on this. Just focus on your job! Thankyou my children!"

"He's your dad."

"No, he's your dad."

"I'm both of you, biological father."
