The other end of the bargain p1

"Well isn't that surprising!" Said the nosy people woman as I was receiving much needed head-pats.

I sent a quick glare her way before snuggling back into Shar's embrace.

"Yes, I'm sure it was quite shocking to most and you will all get an explanation when we get back to the guild." The assistant added

Currently everyone stood a good couple meters away as Sharla sat within the rubble of the houses that were destroyed as when I was sent flying through them. I lay in her lap receiving my well earned head pats. Could anyone really blame me? This was one of the very few times Shar would publicly show affection for me and I wasn't going to waste good teasing material for later.

"No...." came a silent protest from behind the assistant.

"What was that?" She asked to the crowd of people behind her.

"I said no!" Finally it was the obnoxious man from before. I don't know why but he just seemed to have some vendetta towards us. Every other person had seemed to be ok enough but there was always someone that seemed to detest us in one way or another.

Was it the rarity of our relationship or maybe how outright I was in showing my affection. Maybe it was just our presence or could it have been possible they felt some sort of inferiority. Was it because we looked weak? Like we needed protection when in fact we didn't and they couldn't except that fact?

Or maybe the world just decided to send constant onnoyances for its own amusement. Who knows but if so it was working.

Soon everyone had expressed their disapproval except the other annoying person who seemed to just be enjoying the show.

The assistant sighed before releasing a pressure stronger than any I've ever felt and in all honesty it kind of made me nervous even if it wasn't directed at me.

"As I said, you will all get an explanation when we return. If you insist on annoying me or the two ladies there," she paused for a second to look towards us, "you will face severe consequences."

"Oh right, I forgot to mention but that vile piece of garbage used me as bait." Shar added

This truly angered me, no one and I mean no one was allowed to use my precious Shar as bait. I released my bloodlust upon them and they shrunk even further from when the assistant threatened them. He was definitely going to feel the pain I had to endure to kill the hulking monster that now lay dead and cooked to a medium rare. I'm sure the animals would have a wonderful time picking its corpse apart as an all you can eat buffet that lasted until people were sent out to clean up the mess.

I quickly took it back in as the assistant sent me a gaze that said to wait until I was given the opportunity.

No one dared speak on our way back except for any necessary communication. As usual me and Shar were stuck together at the hip and didn't go anymore than a few feet away. Despite every one else's fixation on the events that had occurred during the raid my mind was elsewhere.

"Sh..s...shess...SHESSEFE." I was finally brought out of my trance by Shar's yell.

I plant a smooch in her forehead before asking, "what's up?"

"You just seem absent minded recently. Are you worried about what they have to say?" She asked with a concerned tone

"Oh no, not at all~. In fact I'm thinking about how gently you held me after I killed that ugly thing~. How proud you looked with that big toothy grin that practically screamed, 'look at how much better she is than you.'" A blush enveloped her face and I couldn't help but hug her.

"Look at how vicious my little bunny has become. It's a bit concerning to see how much you've changed but I can't say I don't like it~. Let's get back soon so we can learn some of that magic so you can express all that pent up energy~." Her blush deepened and I squeezed her tighter, planting another kiss on her beautiful almost unblemished skin. Unfortunately not everything can be erased and a small scar from her time with the slave trader.

Just the thought angered me, I had let that disgusting rat off way too easily. I honestly question my sanity for just letting him die so painlessly sometimes, 'to late for regrets now.'

When we returned the sneaky woman stood out on the front steps. Despite not being able to see the assistants face I could tell a silent conversation was happening between them.

"everyone but the white haired girl and her companion follow me and I will explain everything. You two, I will meet you in my office!" She yells before opening the large double doors.

Everyone files in just a second later. Sharla and I are once again guided by the assistant up to the office while while the rest were brought to the back of the guild. About a half an hour later Aria shoves the door open and goes to sit in her chair.

As she takes a seat she sighs and rubs her forehead.

"You're lucky I know some memory alteration spells. My assistant has also informed me of the obnoxious one and he will be out back waiting for you. But I'm sure you're ready for your payment." She explains before walking to the bookshelf seemingly searching for a specific book.

It takes a while before she whispers, "ah, here you are."

She gives a book a light pull and a while portion of the wall retracts.

"Rather cliche don't you think?" I comment

"Yes well not many are foolish to attack such an influential establishment such as ours. We've had a couple try to rob us all mostly ending in their capture or death. Other than that we've had a couple adventurers lash out also ending in capture or death. Technically speaking the guild is one of the safest places on this planet. Of course with the exception of military installments and castles.

Oh right, would you like your rank raised? You could at least be c rank or b rank in your true form. And yes I knew I'm friends with many people and that little prince friend of yours informed me of your incoming arrival." She said

"First we're not friends he's more of an annoyance and than anything. Second I would rather keep my rank where it is. It would be troublesome for people to start to recognize me. I'd rather not be part of a political power struggle."

"Suit yourself, now shall I hold up my end of the bargain?" She says as she indicates to the passage behind her.

"Yes that would be much appreciated."

A very short walk later and we are presented with a library about as big as her office another door stands to our right. All along the walls books are piled on shelves.

"You have access to everything left of the the door whereas the back and right walls are off limits except for anything I personally give you. Do you understand?"

"Yes ma'am" Sharla and I say in union

"I'll gather the spells that are a bit more advanced that you requested. You may ask for more and I will provide as long as it is within reason."

Note: sorry this is late but I once again distracted, this time by a fan-fic but I'm sure you'll be happy to hear I owe you another chapter. If I'm not mistaken I owe you two chapters now but it could be three. If anyone remembers correctly then please comment the exact amount.

Oh right, the character sheets. Well... I'm sure they'll get done eventually. Let's just say this, every week I fail to do them I'll owe you another chapter.
