Chapter 4

After about 2 months of absolute torture, Amariyah's friends decided that it was time to let her go. They said that she had brought them trouble and in all honesty that broke her heart. She never intended for any of it to happen, she just wanted to fit in with everyone else. They told her face and to face, telling her the things they didn't like about her; leaving her no choice but to leave the group.

For a while Amariyah walked around the playground to different groups trying to find a new set of friends. Even though she was now alone and had no one to talk to, the bullying still carried on. And now that she was alone it was another reason for Lani and Reema to bully her. It was getting to a point where Amariyah couldn't handle it anymore, and she was in desperate need of help. She longed for a group of friends that enjoyed her company and friendship.

One day, Amariyah was walking and a girl call Ria noticed that she was all alone. Ria approached Amariyah seeing if she was in need of a friend. She thought she could take Amariyah under her wing and be an amazing friend. Amariyah was ecstatic that she was no longer alone, she was thrilled that she finally had a friend to spend time with. But little did she know what she was getting herself into.

Time went by and Amariyah and Ria were closer than ever, they had other friends in their group but they were inseparable. They would have sleepovers, they called each other's mom "mom", they went out together, and just hung out at school. But it came to a time where Ria was very controlling. She was a bigger weight than the rest of her friends but none of that mattered to Amariyah as she cherished their friendship.

Towards the end of year 7, Amariyah met these three girls named Charlotte, Nicki and Hamiyah. She discovered that Nicki had lived very near to her. They were just mutual at first but then their friendship bloomed. Ria didn't like the fact that Amariyah had found friends else where. In everyone else's point of view she was jealous, she had seen herself as superior to everyone else as she took in Amariyah. But Amariyah was vulnerable at the time and Ria took advantage of her vulnerability.

When Amariyah, Charlotte, Nicki and Hamiyah was chilling in their school playground when Ria acknowledged that Amariyah wasn't with her. Amariyah walked up to Ria to greet her. "Heyyyy! What's up?" Amariyah was going up to her for a generally chit chat but Ria took it the wrong way. "Oh now u wanna talk to me? Go back to ur little white friends!"

Amariyah was astonished by the fact that Ria had the guts to even say such a thing. Especially because Nicki was mixed-race and Hamiyah was a black Muslim and only Charlotte was white. In Amariyah's case race, religion, size, nothing at all mattered to her.Never in a million yearswould she end a friendship just because of someone's skin colour. After Ria said that Amariyah said that she deplorably walked over to her other friends.

When she got home the only thing racing through her mind was what Ria has said. What is it that she did wrong? And how could she fix it? Amariyah didn't want to lose Ria as she felt like she owed her something. Every time Ria took lead Amariyah just followed, sometimes she just felt like a lost puppy. Amariyah didn't know what else to do, and she felt like just because Ria was bigger she should be scared. But no person should fear their own friend and Amariyah knew that but she couldn't help it.
