Talking with the boss

On Thursday morning, Leonora is ready to start another day of work, marking her second day to prove her position at the company. Upon entering the elegant building, she is faced with a busy reception and the soft sound of ambient music filling the space. She greets the security guard who is attentive at the entrance and continues forward, towards the elevators.

As she walks, Leonora observes the familiar faces on the ground floor. She smiles at the friendly receptionist who answered calls with skill and efficiency. Colleagues from other departments also passed by, some carrying folders with concentrated expressions, others chatting in a relaxed manner.

Upon arriving at the elevator, Leonora presses the button for the fifth floor and waits patiently. Meanwhile, she takes the opportunity to greet one of the interns who is at reception, Leonora has already seen his face yesterday during Emma's tours at the company.

The elevator arrives, and Leonora enters calmly along with some colleagues who are also heading to the same floor. They exchanges a few polite greetings and warm smiles as the elevator doors closes gently. She is grateful to work in such a friendly and collaborative environment.

As the elevator ascends, she thinks about the cases she would have to deal with that day. There is an ongoing property dispute and she needs to review some contracts before an important meeting in the afternoon. Leonora knows it will be a full and demanding day, but she is used to the hectic routine of a law firm.

When the elevator doors open on the fifth floor, Leonora immediately spots the secretary, a ray of sunshine in her tight skirt, waves to Leonardo as their eyes meet. Continuing her walk, she sees Louisa, behind her desk. Louisa seems to be an efficient and reliable person, always ready to help with any task that arises. Leonora walks to her table and greets her with a warm smile.

"Good morning, Louisa! Any news for me today?" Leonora asks, curious.

"Good morning, Dr. Leonora! Just a few urgent calls that need to be returned and an important email from a client who is waiting for your response," Louisa replies, handing over a piece of paper with the names and phone numbers written down.

Leonora thanks her for the information and heads to her office, where the murmurs of her co-workers fill the air. While walking, she meets Jéssica, whose office is next to Leonora's office, leaving her own office.

"Hello, Leonora! How are you adapting to our office?" Jessica asks, extending her hand in a friendly gesture.

Leonora smiles, feeling welcomed in her new environment. "It's been great, Jessica. Thank you for the warm welcome."

Jessica expresses happiness at Leonora's success, wishing her good luck. Leonora enters her office, where the soft sunlight shines through the half-open curtains. Her workspace is organised, but there is a pile of files on her desk, probably a handout organised by Patrick and his PA.

With the day's tasks allocated and work beginning to emerge, Leonora sits down in her comfortable leather chair and looks around. She feels grateful to be part of that group of talented professionals who shares the same passion for law and justice.

The phone rings, interrupting her thoughts. It's another client, who is eager for updates on their case. Leonora, with her calm and professional voice, provides the necessary information, assuring the client that she is working diligently in their best interest.

After ending the call, Leonora resumes her review, delving into the nuances of the case. Her eyes scan the documents, and she makes careful notes. The pressure of preparing for the next hearing doesn't intimidate her; on the contrary, she embraces the challenge with determination. Lucio, Sarah, Emma and a few of her co-workers pass by the office. Some stops to greet her, and ask about her previous night or the progress of the case she's working. The environment is welcoming and dynamic.

While taking a deep breath, Leonora feels a surge of positive energy. It's a new day full of possibilities and opportunities to fight for her clients' rights. With a pen in hand and heart full of determination, Leonora begins to dive into her daily routine.

Meanwhile, the sun shines brightly over the tall law firm building. John Andrade sits in his stately living room overlooking the bustling city. Leonora Dark and his son are now co-worker, which makes the situation somewhat complicated for them.

Mr Andrade found out that Patrick has passed the cases he was working to her and he's aware that a sensitive divorce and emotional assault case will be the test his workers needy for her to win them over. Despite his son conflicted feelings, he knows that she is the best person to deal with this situation. After reflecting for a moment on the new dynamic in the office, Mr Andrade decides it's time to talk to Leonora.

Being a practical man, Mr Andrade takes the phone and dials the number of his secretary, Cassandra. He politely asks her to call Leonora. As he waits, a mixture of nervousness and anticipation takes over Patrick. He knows that the situation could become uncomfortable, but he trusts Leonora's professionalism.

A few minutes pass when the door opens and Leonora enters Mr Andrade's office with a serious but professional expression. She is wearing an elegant black suit, her hair exuding confidence and determination.

"Leonora, thank you for coming." Mr Andrade begins. "As you know, I have heard Patrick had transferred the divorce and emotional abuse case to you. I feel it's the best decision, as you have incredible experience in this type of litigation."

Leonora nods, remaining professional. "I completely understand, Sir. I've handled similar cases in the past and I'm confident I can do a good job." She replies, her voice firm and controlled.

Mr Andrade watches Leonora's face for any sign of regret or doubt, but finds only determination. He sighs, relieved to see that she's staying strong and focused.

"I know your personal situation can complicate things, but I am confident in your ability to separate professional issues from personal ones. It is important for me and the client that you are fully committed to this case." Mr Andrade emphasizes, studying Leonora's reactions.

Leonora looks into her Boss eyes, her lips forming an ironic smile. "Believe it or not, Mr Andrade, I can be a professional. The fact that I agreed to work here and this case shows that I'm committed to separating the waters. I know it's hard to believe, considering my history with your son, but I won't let my feelings interfere with work." She explains, her voice echoing confidence.

Once again, Mr Andrade feels relieved and grateful for Leonora's decisive response. There is a sense of relief and gratitude that fills his soul. Everything would be fine.

"Great. I'm glad to hear that, Leonora. This is an important and delicate case, and I'm trusting you to handle it with the same dedication and compassion he did previously. When it's come to children and physical violence, he really puts his heart in it. I know you're capable," Mr Andrade declares, finally feeling a weight being lifted from his shoulders.

Leonora nods, a gleam of determination in her eyes. "You can count on me. I will do everything I can to ensure that justice is done and the victims have the support she needs. I won't let you down," she says, ready to face the challenge that awaits her.

Mr Andrade smiles at Leonora, a glimmer of hope filling his heart. Maybe there is a chance for redemption and healing, an opportunity to overcome the turbulent past and move forward for both her and Patrick.

"Thank you, Leonora." He says, with a small hope that things won't be sour between them. "But one thing, I wanted to make sure you're up to date with the latest laws and regulations related to the case."

"Yes, I am well informed and have all the information necessary to handle this case effectively."

"So that's all, if you need any information or help, Patrick will be happy to clarify." He says, after all it was his son case and he knows more than she does. He could be counsellor to her.

"Thank you, Sir. I'll remember. Excuse me, Sir" Leonora leaves her boss's office with a mix of determination and confidence, after clarifying her doubts related to the laws of her country of origin. She understands that the doubts raised by her boss about the case are natural, considering the new work environment and the different laws in each country.

As she enters the elevator, she takes a deep breath, preparing herself to face her colleagues' curiosity. As the elevator descends, Leonora notices that the tension dissolves a little. Upon reaching the office floor, the door opens, revealing a busy hallway. The surrounding colleagues, aware of where she's coming from, smile and greet her warmly. Leonora a knowledge them.
