I Don't Want To See Your Back

-Library-

Felix is standing in front of a section. He strolls while searching for the book that he has in mind. His hand is gliding through the shelf as the sun washes over it. The warm breeze comes in through the opened window, where the curtain is gracefully waving and covering a girl.

It's the other way around, though. Felix is not very much concerned with the girl. The curtain is covering the girl from seeing Felix.

He quickly reaches the top shelf with his sports uniform jacket, lifting just enough for her to see a glimpse of his dark golden skin.

Feeling that someone is watching over him, he anxiously looks around. He quickly grabs the book and walks away from that section to bump onto Mike, the keyboardist.

"Woah! Easy, dude!" Mike casually shouts while smiling at him.

Startled, Felix stutters, "Oh, s-sorry... M-my bad..." while looking away.

Felix tries his hard to hide his red face at the moment. Mike just leaves him while smiling, although he feels that the situation is awkwardly pleasant.

Felix just stands there alone while taking a moment to figure out what just happened. His heart was pounding when he bumped into him, and it still is.

"What is happening?" he thinks.

Confusion fills his eyes. His heart pounded, but it was lovely. It's not the hurtful anxiety that usually creeps into his body. This one is different. For the first time, he felt so right to be with someone. Is he going crazy, or is he just having a crush?

In the middle of self-thinking, Emily calls his name excitedly, "Felix! What are you doing here?"

All the questions in his head suddenly blow away, and he's on his feet now.

"Oh, h-hi... just tryna find some books..." he stutters while looking away.

"I didn't know you have interest in psychology..." she calmly says while smiling widely after seeing the book in his hand.

He quickly hides it behind his back and shrugs it off, "It's nothing."

Although his response was quite cold, she insists on talking to him.

"So, homecoming! You got a date?" she asks him sweetly.

He takes a glimpse of her for a second and looks away again.

"No, I haven't..." says Felix while looking down.

Then Emily takes a step closer to him. They're just inches away now.

"Well, why don't you take me as a date?" she asks him while smiling brightly.

Her determination shakes him for a bit, but he's still not ready to get closer to anybody, but his best friends.

He hesitates for a bit, but he braces himself and says, "I-I... I can't, I'm sorry..."

Before she can rebut anything, he quickly leaves her while hugging the book tightly to him. Emily looks at him, who's walking away from her. She can see that his back slowly blends in between the shelves.

Suddenly, Joanne walks beside Felix. He grabs Joanne's shoulder casually while giggling with her. They both start to disappear from Emily's sight.

Her eyes keep lingering at his back until she can't see it anymore. "Tch... you laugh just fine when you're with her..." she mumbles to herself while getting bummed.

Emily is left alone there, with a glimpse feeling of rejection.

-Meanwhile Joanne and Felix-

"You know her?" Joanne calmly asks Felix about Emily.

"Not really... I've bumped into her a couple of times, though..." Felix answers.

"So you're friends with her..." she teases him.

He blushes and nervously responds, "F-friends?! No can do! Totally not like that!"

Joanne just chuckles at him, and she suddenly sees Alfred, flirting with a girl against the lockers. She looks away to block the image of it.

Felix, who notices that carefully asks, "So, you ain't comin' with him, right?" with slight concern in his tone.

She looks down and says, "Oh... nope..." with a forced smile.

Felix looks at her and says, "Hey, let's go together then! As a friend-date. It'd be awkward if we had to go with strangers anyway..." to cheer her up.

She looks at him and burst to laugh.

"Hahaha! Alright, you better not change your mind," she says while giggling.

-Hallway-

Kai is just walking through the hallway when he hears shouting. He hesitates for a moment, thinking that it's only in his head. He keeps walking until he remembers how to be stuck somewhere.

He stops.

He looks to the left. He turns back and walks to the janitor's room. He opens the door and suddenly a red-hair girl, wearing a pink dress and white flat shoes, falls into Kai's arms.

"W-Woah!" she shouts.

Kai quickly grabs her, and he can see her green eyes.

They both stay silent for a moment to see each other's eyes, nose, and lips. The girl can feel his breath, and her legs are getting weaker.

"Oops, I'm sorry!" she nervously screams in a squeaky tone and a British accent.

Kai lets her go and says, "Oh, it's fine..." while smiling politely to her.

"Oh, thank you so much... I was locked in there... I guess the door was broken or something..." she says while smiling nervously and still in a British accent.

"Yeah, I've been there, done that... Wait, are you British?" he responds while smiling at her.

"Yes! I'm an exchange student. I'm from London," she answers with a fancy accent.

After a second, she squints her eyes while still smiling and asks, "Wait, you've been locked in there too?"

"Oh, not there... In the basketball court..." he shyly mumbles with a little chuckle.

She giggles and responds, "Oh! How rude of me! I'm Tory, junior..." while looking into Kai's brown eyes sweetly.

"Well, I'm Kai, a freshman... It's nice to meet you..." he says with a little exaggerated fake British accent that cracks her up.

"Hahaha! I don't sound like that!" Tory says while hitting Kai's arm softly.

Without they realize it, Val and Beca have been watching them.

"What a sly fox... She's trying to hit on him, huh..." Beca whispers to Val with an annoyed look.

Val's face frowns, and she grunts, "Urgh, I don't care!" while leaving.

Beca rolls her eyes and follows her while saying, "Oh, you care about that..."

Val clenches her fists and glares at her, "I don't! He could totally go to homecoming with that British chick, and I wouldn't even care about that!" while slapping Beca with her curled-blond hair and she leaves her to class.

"Well, didn't see the hair coming... Hey, the hair thing is mine!" she complains to herself since Val left her alone in the hallway.

-After School-

Caleb is walking from the field toward the building. He suddenly stops after seeing Stacy, making out with a guy on the benches under a tree.

Caleb walks toward the tree with a cold pair of eyes ready to pierce her.

"Hey, can we talk?" Caleb coldly asks her while standing firmly in front of her, who's busy kissing a guy.

She pulls away and glares at him. Her lipstick stains are on the guy's faces.

"Well, I guess you're busy. I'll leave you then, babe," the guy says while kissing her neck for the last time.

Caleb just looks away with a disgusted look on his face.

"What is it, Caleb?" Stacy asks him while crossing her legs, seductively.

"Is there any way to change the rules?" he quickly asks while sitting beside her.

She giggles, "Oh, what's the rush? I thought you wanted to play with me first... but you just had to cut to the chase, huh?" while sitting closer to him.

He smirks and moves closer to her.

"I'd do that, but I wouldn't want to break a cute couple apart," he sarcastically says while looking into Stacy's lips.

She smiles and says, "Oh, that wasn't a boyfriend... He's just... a friend..." while touching his jawline softly.

"A woman with no commitment, huh? What happened to the uptight cheer captain?" he says while whispering to her ears.

She quickly pulls away and grunts, "Urgh, we're not changing the rules, Farrell..."

Caleb scoffs and says, "You quickly pulled away after realizing the stupid rules, don't you? You just remembered that I'm a member of the basketball team."

She glares at him and loses it, "Oh, stop this already! We're not changing the rules! Our status quo is perfectly fine! We don't have any reason to do that!"

He moves closer to her and says, "Really? Don't you think this could be the reason?"

His hand lands in her waist, and she does not deny it. They both enjoy the close distance and the high tension between them, but they crave more.

"This tension, this distance, this temptation to go further. Those could be the reasons, Stacy. Imagine how many of us have struggled in this situation?" he says while looking deeply into her eyes.

When she's about to move closer to touch his lips, he pulls away.

"How does it feel, Stacy? When you want someone, but you can't have them just because of one stupid rule," he says with a sincere smile.

Stacy just looks at him with guilt and confusion mixed in her eyes. She just sits there, getting speechless.

"You don't have any right to get in the way between someone else's relationship, you know..." he says coldly while leaving her alone there.

Stacy just stares blankly there. She takes a peek to see his back going further away. In her heart, maybe, Caleb made a change there. Perhaps, there's hope for everyone in the sport-family teams.

Will there be any changes made in the future?
