She dialed Grace's number. "Hey Grace, you coming home for dinner?" The loud music hollering to her new phone's speaker. "Cathy? Thank the heavens you called. You just bailed me out from some freak here."
"You should get your ass back here then."
"Yeah, yeah. I'm calling a taxi right now. By the time I get back there, I'm expecting a real good feast." Catherine laughed. "If you consider Chinese takeout a feast, why not?"
"Sure loves, I'll have the usual. I'm hanging up now."
"Bye." She slurred the 'e'. "Aight, time to order some takeaway."
The time when Catherine is waiting for their food, Grey found himself staring at his reflection. He touched the window. His boredom overtaking him. He crossed his legs and looked up to the ceiling. All the pending work is already finished. The two weeks' worth of workload are already done.
"Hmm, what to do? What to do?" Scrolling through his phone? Boring. Binge watching movies? Crossed out. Eating? He's not hungry. "I'm so bored, ugh." The sound of the clock echoed through the room as if on beat with Grey's mood.
His phone rang loudly interrupting his thoughts. Grey frowned as soon as he saw who the caller was. It was no other than his father. The president of the Kingsley Enterprises. "Father, yes you have called?"
"I just wanted to check up on you by myself. I found that you find it uncomfortable when others told me about your situation." After losing his mother, his snobbish finally decided to be in his life. That wasn't really a big issue, the issue is how he tried to "fix" him.
"Yes father, I find it very unsettling. If you wanted to check up on me, you can just call me."
"Alright son… How have you been these days?" His father asked. "I've been well. Nothing out of the ordinary." Grey replied smoothly. "I see, that's great. Your graduation is coming up, no?"
"Yes father, I'll start working at the company after." His father cleared his throat. "That's not what I'm trying to imply. You've been like me, even your lifestyle is like mine. Hectic, paper everywhere. You can take a break after your graduation then, you can start working here."
Grey clearly unfazed. "Yes father of course, you should worry more about yourself knowing how many sleepless nights you've had, you should give yourself time to recover." Grey's father chuckled. "My health isn't really a big matter one of these days. Also Grey, have you been seeing someone?"
He suddenly tensed up. "Is there a problem to that father?"
"No, no, not at all. I just wanted to know. I have no problems on who you'll choose. I know that you are smart and more than capable in choosing correctly. You can introduce me to her if both of you have the time." Grey is perplexed by what his father had to say. 'Maybe a change of heart?'
"Sure, if things go well with her. I'll tell her then." Distant chattering is heard from the background. Must be the secretary. "I'll be going now son; I have a dinner meeting to attend."
"Goodbye father." With that, grey wasn't so bored now. With his lean body plopped on his king-sized bed, many clashing thoughts popped into his head.
