Last Chance

Dear Imena,

A week went by and the new leader still declined to our deal. So, in a last attempt to make the deal and figure out why he was saying no, I was asked to read his mind when I went into the last meeting.

Again, I showed up to his office doors in a modest floor-length dress with my hair straightened and pulled back into a low ponytail and simple slip on flats on my feet. The staff looked nervous, but I didn't know why, and I didn't allow myself to read their minds to find out.

But this time, I didn't even get the chance to go into the office, because the new leader walked out. He looked surprised to see me, then the expression was quickly wiped off his face and replaced with an angry look.

"Miss Rose, I already told you, I am not accepting your peace deal. Now leave me be!" he demanded.

"Yes, I understand that, but you don't understand how important this deal is." I shot back.

"I understand it, I just don't care." he said.

A panicked spokesperson tried to make what their leader said nicer, but I interjected.

"Thank you, but he meant what he said and the way he said it, I didn't need anyone to tell me that." I glared at the small man standing in front of me.

"Since we're being so blunt, let me return the favor. You were just introduced to my world, so you have no idea who you're messing with. My people are more powerful than every person in your country combined, the Council I am apart of could tear your country to shreds," I stepped closer to him, "On my own, I could destroy your country with a snap."

I stepped away from him a bit and looked back at him. "If you want to be our enemy, that's fine. I just hope your country survives your actions." I said to him.

He was absolutely terrified, but refused to show it on his face. His whole body shook, and he began to turn pale. I took this opportunity to read his mind:

I kept my expression the same, in hopes of not giving anything away. Then I opened a portal to the Vail and told the man, "I hope you're happy with your decision. Have a wonderful day."

I smiled at the terror in his eyes and walked through the portal, leaving the man frozen in fear.
