Chapter 19: No Plan

Entering the kitchen, I find the sovereign serving breakfast. He had fried a few eggs and bacon. The egg yolk glistened in a golden hue. My eyes entranced by its look, but the burn smell of the bacon. It took my nostrils hostage. Saliva flooded my mouth as he turned to greet me.

"Ha ha, I allow you to partake in the feast of my creation. Regardless leave enough for myself and my spouse." A dead voice resounded across the room. Fear ran through me as I could only gawk at him. What's worse, he didn't strike a pose. Is this man truly my father? The overbearing, bike loving sovereign I knew?

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?! RUN BOY!! RUN!" My instincts pleaded me to jet off into another galaxy. Despite that, I didn't move, I couldn't. My legs froze at the resounding thud behind me. It crept closer and closer.

"Good morning sweetie, did you sleep okay?" A tired yet gentle voice ringed in my ears. Turning around, I meet mother. Her pale blond hair struggling to keep any shape. She seemed like her usual self, but seeing the sovereign tense up like that. I only pray I don't screw up her mood any further.

"I slept okay, how about you mother dearest," My hands quaked their way into words, as I struggled to force a smile. Sadly, it did not work. Her tired eyes turned into a fiery glare. Slowly coming to look the sovereign in the eye, her lips opened.

"Darling, what exactly did you say to Yata?" Cold words fled her lips. Cold enough to bring about another ice age. Yet her lips held themselves up in an unfeeling smile. The Sovereign's dark skin turned pale. And he wouldn't be the only one going ghost.

"Nothing my spouse, no, my queen? NO!! My... goddess," His voice broke trying to please our goddess. His knees shook as he kneeled, I don't blame him. Mother shrugged as she forgave his soul for whatever he did. I can feel it in my bones. If I were to know what he did, I'll regret it. So I feigned ignorance to whatever happened, eating my breakfast uninterrupted.

As I left for school, I felt Mother's arms wrapping around me. My body shook as I let it settle. "Have a nice day" a worried whisper sneaked into my implants. I vowed to change, didn't I, at the very least I can hug her back. Reluctantly, my arms surround mother. A few seconds passed before I slowly let go.

"You too," My hands naturally falling into words. Feeling my heart fall into peace, I smile. I couldn't tell how I looked, but given Mother's teary expression. I think I'm changing. Soon after, something crashed over me. A warm, overbearing monster wrapped his arms around me. Lifting me off the ground, he waved me around like a toy before yelling.

"Oh, child of mine, I order you to have a nice day, HA HA." My frightened heart felt at ease. After all the sovereign, no dad returned to normal. To which I could only attempt to form the words "Will do" with my hands before running off to school.

This time no plans, no strategies. I will face those fiends, no, my classmates. Whether or not I'm scared, I'll face them. I'll find the way to change this silent heart.
