Chapter 05

In a clearing full of burn marks and puddles of water, two preteens could be found sitting side by side with their backs against a tree.

Those two were Naruto Uzumaki and Satsuki Uchiha, who had just killed a Class A Magic Beast and were now resting.

"Hey, Satsuki," Naruto caught the girl's attention and then asked a question; "You're part of the Uchiha Clan, one of the bloodline clans, aren't you?"

Bloodlines were something very rare and appreciated in this world and this is due to the fact that people with special bloodlines haven't appeared for over 600 years.

Bloodlines in present times can only be found in very ancient clans such as the Uzumaki Clan and the Uchiha Clan, and even among the existing bloodlines there was a hierarchy, with the two clans being among the strongest, with the Uchiha having the Sharingan and the Uzumaki with their various bloodline abilities, such as the Kagura Shingan or the Tairyoku Kaifuku, with one being a sensing ability and the other being a healing ability, but the Uzumaki clan has several other innate abilities that sometimes don't appear in the same generation, in addition to the legendary Rinnegan who last appeared over 400 years ago.

Apart from special abilities, members of bloodline clans are also guaranteed to have a good talent for the Clan's main magic, as the Uzumaki have an affinity for Runes and the Uchiha have an affinity for fire and lightning magic, for that very reason that a member of a clan does not awaken the bloodline ability he will still be a better than average mage.

No one really knows where bloodlines came from or why they stopped appearing 600 years ago, but many people believe bloodline clans are the descendants of Champions of the Gods who lived on Earthland during the Age of Gods, an age that has almost no record in the current era, all that is known is that at some time in the past the Gods went somewhere else, no one knows where.

Satsuki cringed again when she heard him mention his clan, but nodded at the question.

Naruto noticed her cringe again and decided to ask at once. "Has something happened to the Uchiha clan?"

With that question, Satsuki nodded and was left with an expression of sadness and anger on her face as she remembered that night and what 'he' had done to his entire family.

Looking at her Naruto saw that she had the same look he had when he saw her reflection in the water right after burying his mother, so he could guess what happened to her being like that.

"Your clan... was destroyed too?" he asked softly.

His words made Satsuki turn her head towards him with a look of shock plastered on her face. "'Also'? Was the Uzumaki Clan destroyed? Why didn't I hear about it?"

Naruto just gave her a sad smile. "Yes, my clan was destroyed before I was born, and my foster mother was murdered three days ago."

The dark blue haired girl snapped out of her shock and nodded, a bit happy that she could find someone who could understand her."My older brother Itachi...he...went mad and destroyed the entire clan. ..." She paused for a moment. "I'm probably the only survivor besides Itachi."

Naruto was shocked hearing about this and a little skeptical too, since;

"How is it possible for a single person to kill an entire clan of mages that is considered to be one of the strongest on this side of the world?"

Satsuki just gave him a wry smile, noticing his skeptical tone, but she wasn't offended, after all it's something unbelievable, but she replied anyway;

"Itachi… he is considered the greatest genius the clan has ever produced after Uchiha Madara, he came to be stronger than all the clan members at just 17 years old…"

The red haired boy was very shocked to hear this, reaching that level at such a young age is almost unbelievable, as the strongest member of one of the bloodline clans would be at least an SS Rank Mage, and a large clan like the Uchiha would have at least one SSS Rank Mage, so this Itachi Uchiha was an EX Rank Mage, which made him a little terrified as even the weakest EX Rank can destroy an entire country with a single spell, reach such a level with 17 years is terrifying.

"I know, right, and I have to reach such a level in order to avenge my clan..." Satsuki said with a grim face.

"Okay…so, where are you going now?" Naruto asked nervously, wanting to change the subject as talking about such a monster reminded him that he too has to reach that level, as the people who destroyed his clan will most likely seek him out in the future.

Satsuki closed her eyes and leaned against the tree, happy that Naruto decided to change the subject, before replying, "I'm going to join a magic guild."

"Hmm, guilds are those places where mages go to get jobs, aren't they?" Naruto asked, a little intrigued by the idea.

Honestly he didn't have the slightest idea what to do after his mother and the Strauss were killed, he thought about just traveling across the continent while getting stronger, but Satsuki's idea seems more interesting.

"Hn, I heard that there are very strong people in some of these guilds, I will use those people as a whetstone until I am strong enough to kill 'he'." Satsuki replied with an indifferent look.

Naruto hummed for a moment before standing up abruptly, startling Satsuki a little.

"Yosh! It is decided, I will be part of a guild too." He immediately sat down again and turned to the dark blue haired girl. "Do you have any idea which guild you are going to join?"

Satsuki, after calming down a bit, gave her new friend a penetrating look before closing her eyes again and leaning her head against the tree.

"Yes, I will try to join Fairy Tail, which is said to be the strongest guild in the country."

Naruto made an affirmative sound upon hearing this, but he had a confused expression.

"Why is the name Fairy Tail? I didn't know Fairies had tails..."

"…I have no idea…"

With that the redhead shrugged and also closed his eyes and leaned against the tree and soon began to hum a song that Wasser always sang when he was sad, angry or had a nightmare, it was a Peaceful Melody that brought a smile to face from Satsuki.

"…Hey Satsuki."

"Hn."

"You know you can't just focus on revenge, right?"

With those words Satsuki finally opened her eyes and gave the redhead a wary look, who in return gave her a small smile.

"It's just the advice I got in the last letter from my birth mother." Naruto spoke with a smile as he looked up to the sky and remembered his parents' letters. "She said that all the people she knew who lived their lives for revenge, either died alone or completed their revenge and always gave the same answer to the question of what they felt when they took revenge; I felt empty."

He then turned his gaze to his new friend and continued talking.

"So you see, don't just focus on revenge or you might end up like these people..."

Satsuki stared at him for a moment before returning to her previous position.

"Hn…I'll try…"
