Cucumber

"What's this?" I pointed at the nearest to me.

"What? You don't know that?" Licia exclaimed beside me.

"Are you for real?" Sasha added.

"Is this something faeries should know even before they are born?" I whispered to Blaze and he just laughed.

"Why are you laughing?" Sasha asked him.

"So what's this again?" I repeated my question.

"That's burger." Sasha finally answered. I lift the sandwich which they called a burger.

"What's inside?" I lift the bun and stared at it for a while.

"Just fried meat and vegetables, I think. And some sauces I can't really remember the name. The recipe came from the human realm." Sasha explained. So this is human food? I took a bite. I chewed once then looked at Blaze. He mouthed me a 'what?' I can't speak because of the food on my mouth. My eyes suddenly became blurry. He picked up a small piece of cloth and asked me to spit out the food there. I didn't hesitate. Blaze gave me water while the other three just stared at us confused.

"What are you doing?" Licia asked. I drank the water before answering.

"You didn't told me there was cucumber." I coughed.

"I did. I said there's vegetables in it." Sasha replied.

"Cucumber isn't a fruit?" I asked shocked.

"It's not! Right, guys?" No one answered her.

"I'm not really sure." Licia said.

"And the sauce tastes weird." I added.

"You're so picky." Sasha rolled her eyes.

I handed Blaze the burger I'd bitten. He looked at me like he was asking me why. "You want?"

"Your leftover? No." He turned his back at me but I nudged him in his side.

"Please?" I gave my most pathetic look.

"Just put it there." He told me while pointing at the empty space in front of me.

I was going to persuade him more but Sasha called him out. "Blaze eat this. I don't want it anymore." He reached for the sandwich Sasha gave her. What the? I glared at him.

"What? I like ham." You like ham or you like Sasha? I rolled my eyes at him and reached for the grapes. I looked at Blaze and Sasha laughing at each others jokes. You two make a perfect couple, I wish you two happiness.

I shouldn't have went here with them. How different is eating grapes outside and inside? I'm afraid to try the other foods, I might just spit it out again. I sighed.

"Why?" Siche asked me.

"What why?" I don't understand him.

"Why were you sighing?"

"Because I want to." I said and put another piece of grapes on my mouth. "What time is it?"

"1:30" Licia answered me.

"What? Aren't we going back yet?" We have classes at two o'clock.

"We'll just skip it." Sasha said and lay on the wooden floor.

"Hey you just ate." Siche told her off and she sat up.

"You're gonna skip afternoon classes?" They never told me they were planning that.

"We." Sasha corrected me.

"What? Me?" They expect me to skip class with them?

"Yes you. Why? That's just human studies." She countered back.

"We have human studies today?"

"Yes." Licia answered.

"I'll head back." I stood up.

"What? Are you interested in humans? Why would you learn how they live or work?" Sasha sounded irritated.

"I'm going. Thanks for the food."

"You're going like that?" Licia asked me. I looked at myself, my clothes are still wet.

"Blaze you could walk her to the school." Siche suggested.

"If the guard sees me, he won't let me leave again." Blaze rejected.

"It's ok, I remember the way clearly. You guys enjoy yourself. Gotta go!" I turned my back to them.

"Take care!" I heard them yelled but I'm not really sure if I heard Blaze, I guess not.

I arrived back at the school at quarter to two. As I stepped into the halls, I noticed that there was a commotion. Students are gathered at one corner. I passed by the crowd... maybe not. I was curious so I'm just gonna take a look. I saw Harris, with his girlfriend against two faeries. They are facing backwards so I can't see their faces. Harris' girlfriend was talking blah. Just when I decided to exit the crowd, Harris' lay a punch on one of the other faeries, Zeno. He was going to do it again but suddenly I was in their middle. Why am I here? Sheen you shouldn't have gotten involved. I mentally face palmed myself for the unwanted participation.

"What are you doing?" Harris' girl asked irritated.

"What? Standing?"

"Fuck off bitch!" She retorted.

"You, what are you doing?" I asked Harris. He snickered at me. "What happened?" I whispered to Lumine and Zeno.

"I know what you're doing, you're butting in while not knowing what's happening." Harris was also irritated.

"That... is exactly what I'm doing!" I admitted and the crowd erupted into laughters. "But at least I know that these two did nothing wrong."

"How can you say?" Harris' girl asked me.

"I just know." I said and gave her a mocking smile. Second later she was pulling my hair. I screeched in pain. I kept myself from pulling hers also, I'm a princess, I told myself. The law will punish those who made mistakes like this, I need not get my hands dirty.

I just stand in silence while she's pulling my hair, giving her zero satisfaction. Harris decided to pull away his girlfriend.

"You should go now, we can handle this." Zeno held me by my elbow and casually pushed me aside.

I stand my ground. "You go. I can handle this."

"Can you just move? I'm just gonna talk to them." Harris told me.

"No, sorry." I apologized sarcastically. "And just talking is far from what I saw earlier."

"They-" He couldn't finish his words.

"What's happening here? Five minutes before your classes, students. What are you all doing? Scoot!" The crowd began to thin. "Are these two causing troubles?" It was Sir Colm.

" Yes sir." Sasha simultaneously said with Lumine and Zeno's, "No."

"I know you two know what the consequences are." Sir Colm told the two dark faes. "Now get going to your classes." He told us then walked away.

Harris' girlfriend walked out with her friends with a hiss. And I sent away Lumine and Zeno to their classes. I took three steps away from our position earlier then put my hands on my head. I massaged the part where that girl pulled my hair. "It hurts." And I frowned.

I heard a chuckle beside me. "It must have. What were you doing just standing there letting Elisse pull all your hair out?" He's with one of his friend, the one he's with when I first saw him.

"The two did nothing wrong." I told him.

"I saw them disrespecting my girlfriend, that is just purely wrong for me." If I was his girlfriend I would've already melted. "I just protected her."

"That's sweet but if only your girlfriend wasn't the one disrespecting everyone around." His brow furrowed.

"Harris we're gonna be late." His friend told him.

"Keep going first Ean, I need to see the dean." They nodded to each other. Why is he going to see Dean? I got curious, oh my head is always curious.

"What business do you have with the dean?" I asked him.

"I don't think we're close enough for me to tell you." I rolled my eyes.

I took one step closer to him. "This close enough?" He just laughed.

"You're either just nosy or you're really interested in me."

"Neither." I hissed at him.

"I wondered why you're late." Dean approached us.

"I'm sorry, there was a mild problem." Harris told him.

"The Princess always comes first." I raised an eyebrow for what Dean said.

"I know, I just-"

"I'm heading out now let's just talk about it here." Dean said and walked to the corner waiting for Harris to follow him. Well, I followed them but still keeping distance, just enough so I could hear them. "I hope you had think about this very carefully, the Royal Family will not be pleased with you backing out." What's the deal?

"Yes dean, I did. And I could give a pledge if you want."

"No. You're too young to be tied up with duties." Duties? "You just need to serve the Princess with honesty and decency. And this will be a secret, even from your girlfriend." Serve who?

"I was wondering if I need to stay at the palace or not?" Harris asked. Stay at palace for what?

"Usually royal guard do, but you will find out later." I finally put all the pieces together.
