As Musif leren applied his full force, the hole got squashed from its boundary. We got to see a circular tunnel. Its opening led towards the underground path. We all were surprised to see this. The size of the tunnel was big enough for a person to pass through it. Did the Shakara tribe use this tunnel as a way to enter the king's room and kill him? And to remove the evidence they hid the tunnel, with the help of some technique to keep the floor stuck. But then why did they leave the tiny hole. Several theories were going on my mind.
"We have to find where this tunnel leads to?" I suggested.
"Let me see," answered Musif. He then entered the tunnel, slowly and steadily putting his lower body first. We all circled to check what Musif finds.
After sometime Musif returned from the tunnel, and said," The tunnel is deep, it must lead to some secret path. It seems likely that Shakaras used this tunnel for entering the rooms and murdering both the kings. Unfortunately, this tunnel is blocked in the midway by an unbreakable, unique kind of metal which is greyish purple."
"Are you sure that the metal is unbreakable?" I asked.
"I am an expert when it comes to breaking hard objects. So, I have good knowledge about what is breakable and what is not," he replied with annoyance for my scepticism.
"Alright, there must be more tunnels throughout the city which they will use for mass murder," said Roderick
. "Yesterday, on my way to Rupert's house, I noticed similar holes present near every hut. So they have all the preparations made," I said.
"Okay, so let us check other rooms of the castle first and see if they provide us with a way," said father. The army then grouped in pairs to find clues. To our surprise, we found a tiny hole present in literally every room of the castle leading into a tunnel. But unlike the tunnel in the former King Tisdale's room, it was not blocked by any metal. I was checking some rooms present on the second floor along with Roderick and two other soldiers. In the rooms of the top floor, the tunnel was hidden below the fireplace.
"We have to confront them now before they commit another crime," I suggested as the army was having a meeting.
"Indeed, now that we have found their secret tunnel we have to stop them," said Musif Leren.
A glitter of hope to find the Shakaras began to rise among the army as the secret tunnel got discovered.
"Okay, so we will take half the army with sand the remaining will stay here. In case we are unable to return before dusk, the entire city must evacuate without thinking about us," announced father.
Everyone present agreed with his decision. The next hour we were deciding who would join us to solve the mystery and who would make the arrangements along with the ministers for the evacuation of the city. Me, my father, Roderick, Musif leren were the part of the army to confront the Shakaras. We left in the afternoon and were to return before the dusk or else the city would evacuate.
