Because I said so

Seo Jaehyun felt bored.

He was so used to this kind of atmosphere. The staff is always there just to compensate for the work they do. Most makeup artists and stylists are usually overworked. Rookie actors and actresses always tried to suck upon their seniors and even the production team.

The plastic smiles on their faces irked him the most.

Even his term as a rookie, he was someone who kept his head up high and believed that talent would only make you soar in this industry, and he became so proud and happy that he did.

But that was already years ago, and things definitely changed. Nowadays, it is essential to have a good backer and great connections with everyone, just like Hong Mina.

The first time he saw her at her audition, his opinion seemed like she would definitely be one of the hidden gems and, therefore, recommended her for the supporting role. Suddenly, he heard the news of the main character who's going to act as Choi Lia dropping out of the drama and was suddenly replaced with the rookie actress who came from a relatively known entertainment agency.

At first, he did not care. Her impression of Mina's acting was actually good. And even though any character she would portray suited her, Jaehyun was reminded that she got the role through connections.

He acknowledged this act, and it had not been his first time encountering one. Unbeknownst to him, Jaehyun became disappointed with her for some reason, and he would not be shocked if she was to be like those rookie actresses who would go all the way and sleep with a director just to get a lead role.

Disgusting.

He had an ex-girlfriend, a popular actress, and when he accidentally found out that she used to do that during her early days as a rookie actress, he immediately broke up with her. For some unknown reason, he found it disgusting, something low and immoral to do.

It was not like she loved her too much that he could not accept any other man touching her ex, but it just felt weird for him. He would never waste his time with someone who has such a twisted mindset.

As he leaned his right elbow on the table with his hand supporting his chin, Jaehyun observed Mina's face. She was definitely beautiful. Her long brown wavy hair looked sophisticated and elegant.

The way her doe eyes were looking at the half-filled glass of soju looked adorable for him. Her tall nose and thin lips suited her overall unique facial features. Her overall image looked innocent like but depending on her makeup, and she would definitely suit a sexy image as well.

He fiddled on his glass of beer and drank from it. He was the only one who drank beer, and some preferred to mix both; some only drink beer. Since he was a busy actor, he liked it if he would not have a severe headache tomorrow. So he's abstaining.

Director Oh Paldo, the assistant director of the drama, was an annoying one. He could already see him preying the rookie actress, Hong Mina.

Let's see. Mina seemed like she might be innocent, but she's not gullible. She is someone who has a high level of confidence that she won't definitely let anyone, not even the assistant director of the drama she was starring in, stomp on her.

If a man, particularly an older man, wanted a woman to pour alcohol in his drink, that would mean he thought of that woman as someone lower than her. Most women are paid to do that job in bars, but this is not a bar, of course, and Mina was not someone who works at the bar.

Assistant Director Oh Paldo looked drunk, but being drunk is not an excuse or even a valid reason to justify his actions.

Jaehyun looked surprised when Mina faked a smile, grabbed the soju bottle, and poured it on the glass. The assistant producing director suddenly spoke while Mina poured alcohol on his glass. It "Why don't I pour you a glass of soju as well then we drink it with our arms intertwined with each other?"

Even though Mina was faking a smile, Jaehyun could definitely see the sudden change of her expression. Obviously, she already hated the fact that she had to pour alcohol for this man. The frown was so obvious that Jaehyun could not help himself smirk.

The volcano was definitely about to burst.

Jaehyun knew that Mina would definitely not let this older man slip away. Or at least, that was what he predicted.

Mina lowered her gaze before she looked up. Her smile was still there, but her gaze looked fierce. "Why would I do that Assistant Director Oh?"

"Because I asked you too," The PD just chuckled and tilted his head to the side. Everyone at the table was just looking at them, not wanting to comment about anything else. "It's just a simple love shot, Hong Mina. I know that you can do that for me, right?"

Mina was definitely pissed. Calling her directly with her name became the bomb. This was still a workplace setting, and everyone deserved to be respected even rookie ones. Jaehyun could see the aura she was emitting, and it was not a joke. He never failed to see her as an exciting spectacle compared with rookie actresses in her batch.

"I see," Mina shortly replied. Everyone could already sense the brewing storm, and no one spoke.

"Won't you do it for me?" The assistant PD asked. "Mina~"

"I won't do it, Oh PD," Mina firmly replied.

"Why?" Oh Producing Director whined; his cheeks were becoming redder as time went by. Everyone at the table suddenly became awkward and did not know what to do anymore. The atmosphere tensed as both of them started showing resistance to each other's actions.

"Why?" Mina raised his brows sassily. "Because I just said so,"
