Goblin hunting

Aurus seeing the four goblins, remembering how hard he fought in order to kill only one of them previously he hid behind a tree. Currently, he was extremely weak. His cultivation level was completely useless as he didn't get stronger until he actually broke through to iron rank. As such, knowing he wouldn't be able to take care of them by himself while they were in a group, he followed them waiting for an opportunity.

Half an hour later, after having followed them for half a kilometre, they arrived in front of a cave on the side of a small mountain. The entrance of the cave was quite large and it could easily fit three adults side by side at the entrance. The cave was close to a small pond where two of the goblins drank water before the four of them entered the cave.

According to his estimations and his knowledge of goblins through novels, mangas and animes, the cave was most likely the goblin's lair. Watching the sun slowly go down from the sky, he finally decided to wait until night time. It had been around four or five hours since he had been in this world and night time would arrive around four hours later. As such, he just waited until the goblins fell asleep before killing them as fast as possible.

Considering the time he would have to wait until the goblins fell asleep, he didn't want to waste his time and continued to hunt some slimes while collecting monster cultivation resources and killing some lonely goblins.

Thanks to the fight with the four lonely goblins he met, he managed to increase his combat experience a little, at least enough to face at least two goblins at once. At the same time, after storing as much cultivation resources he possibly could in the system storage space, he finally managed to completely fill it up. This way, there would be no waste on this trip.

Unfortunately, he didn't find any other kind of cultivation resources used by the other elements. After the hunt with the goblins and going back to complete the task, he would ask the adventurer's guild if they sold some materials. Maybe with a little bit of luck, he would be able to find some cultivation resources of the other elements.

After all, his store was separated into twelve different sections and it was quite a shame not to fill it up. With the materials he had, he could replenish a little bit of both the earth and water element but the other ten systems would be completely empty which would be a waste of space. He hoped to at least find a few materials of different elements to at least show that he possessed cultivation materials of other elements.

Finally, after four hours, nighttime fell and it was time for his goblin hunt to start. Previously, he had killed a goblin and with the four goblins he had killed while waiting for the moon to come out, he had killed four more. As such, with only ten goblins left to kill, he was feeling confident.

According to his plans, he wanted to finish this task and at the adventurer's guild, complete the slime slaying tasks a few times in order to complete a total of ten tasks. Ten tasks were needed to upgrade to an E rank adventurer.

In Aurus's opinion, it was way too easy to rank up as an adventurer but at the same time, he figured it would be harder and harder to rank up the higher the rank. After all, he would take less than a day to complete the tasks to rank up from F rank to E rank which was quite fast in his own opinion.

The reason he decided to use the slime's cores collected in the forest to complete more tasks was because his system's space was completely full and the reward of the task of becoming an E rank adventurer was to increase the system's space. As such, he would be able to actually bring more cultivation materials out. At this point, he had his bag completely full in surplus, which he wouldn't be able to bring back to Arashina unless he completed the task.

Coming back to his senses, he got serious and slowly approached the cave. As it was completely dark in the cave except for a few torches here and there, Aurus got more and more confident when going deeper into the cave.

Slowly getting deeper while staying close to a wall, he listened to any sounds of goblins moving in order not to be ambushed by them. Fortunately, after some time, he could finally hear some snoring. Getting more and more excited, he forcefully calmed himself down. This wasn't a game and he could die anytime when fighting against the goblins so being more careful wouldn't hurt him.

And at the same time as he forced himself to be calmer, he heard the steps of a goblin walking in the cave. He wasn't sure if the goblin was a guard or he was just going out to complete his various needs. However, one thing was certain, he wouldn't waste this chance.

Aurus stuck himself to the wall of the cave and stopped breathing to cover as much noise as possible. When the goblin finally walked near him, Aurus tightened his grasp of the sword and when the goblin walked by him, Aurus used his sword to directly stab into his heart while keeping the goblin's mouth closed to keep it from making any noises.

After a dozen seconds, when the goblin was completely dead, Aurus slowly put the body to the ground and collected his proof of slaying before continuing his way inside the cave.

After he turned a corner, he was surprised. What awaited him were five goblins all sleeping together really close to each other. Counting the goblin he had previously killed, he still had nine of them to slay before completing the task. So, seeing the five of them completely defenceless was, in his opinion, a gift. After all, after killing theses, he would only have four left to kill.

On Arashina, people were taught from young that monsters should never be spared no matter the circumstances unless they were contracted beasts. The reason for this? Because the monsters wouldn't hesitate to kill you at first glance.

As such, Aurus had no intention of sparing them and was prepared to kill the five of them as fast as possible.

Walking slowly towards them, he started from the right. Slashing the head of the first goblin, there was a little sound. However, it was completely covered by the snoring of one of the goblin. Aurus had paid attention and decided to kill the snoring goblin last. Who knew if the goblins were used to hearing his snoring? Maybe the snoring stopping would actually wake them up. At the same time, the snoring could cover a little bit of the sound produced when killing them.

Obviously, he wasn't even sure if the snoring could really help him but he figured it wouldn't make it more difficult at least.

A little blood flew from the neck of the first goblin to the second one. As the blood fell on his face, the goblin woke up but by the time he actually opened his eyes, a sword had already pierced his neck. Following this sequence, Aurus managed to kill all of them with the snoring goblin last.

Collecting the subjugation proof, he walked a little further in the cave. He knew that there would be more than a single room. Goblins were known to love to collect random items either coins from their dead victims because the coins were shining or some armours and weapons. There were normally a little bit more items but it was really only junk. They were after all goblins and didn't know what was more precious so, they simply kept everything they liked.

In the second room were seven goblins. Using the same method as before, he managed to kill five of them but had to fight a combat to the death against the two last goblins. Luckily with the added experience from fighting the slimes and the lone goblins from before, he had gained a little combat experience and managed to kill both goblins with a few scratches.

Looking suspiciously at the third cave a little further away, he walked slowly over there after collecting his subjugation proof. The fight just now had made quite a little bit of noise and there were no goblins who made their way to him while in the fight which made him think that the goblins were completely exterminated and he was completely right.

When he arrived at the last room, he saw where the goblins kept their treasures. Coins and a few armours and weapons were on one side of the room while broken plank of wood, rocks and a few dead animal corpses were on the other side. There were two large bags that probably belonged to adventurers or merchants. Aurus didn't bother looking more and just took all of the armours, weapons and coins in the bag. He would take a look back at the adventurer's guild.

When he went back to the city walls, he was lucky that the guards never actually completely blocked the way for adventurers for entering and leaving the city. There was a small door next to the gate which could be used by adventurers who were coming back from their tasks late at night.

Walking through the small door and showing his adventurer's ID to the guards, he made his way to the adventurer's guild. The same as for the guards, the adventurer's guild never actually closed up and merely had less staff working at night. This way, any adventurer's could complete tasks or report information at any time of the day or night.
