Rank up and buying materials

The guild's hall was completely empty and an attendant was behind the counter while working on some paper. Hearing the noise of the door, she lifted her head in surprise. It seems that it was quite rare that an adventurer came back at night in this town. After all, Goran had explained to him that most of the adventurers in this town only wished to get some money from working on tasks before going home to their kids and wife. It seems there weren't many adventurers like him who worked into the night.

"Good evening, I'm here to submit the completion of my tasks." Aurus didn't bother wasting time on idle chatter and merely stated his business. It was night time for everyone and he could see on the face of the attendant that she was tired.

Taking out the ten slime cores and the left ear of fifteen goblins, the guild attendant brought out a small item and confirmed that those items had indeed been hunted this day. She didn't ask many questions and merely gave him his reward for the tasks.

Considering he had already completed three tasks and that he had a surplus of slime cores that couldn't fit in his inventory anymore, he decided to complete seven more slimes subjugation quests in order to rank up and receive the system reward.

Taking out seventy slime's core, he asked the attendant to help him complete seven slime subjugation tasks. This was a task which could be done as many times as one wanted as slimes were always a problem in this city. As such, there was no problem in ranking up using this method.

The attendant while surprised was too tired to care about anything and just helped him complete his rank up to E rank after taking his adventurer's ID. After receiving his ID back, the rank had changed. At the same time, he received 3 silver and 50 bronze coins. Adding the first task he had done in the morning which was 50 bronze coins for completing the slime slaying task and the two tasks he had done in the evening, the slime slaying task, and the goblin subjugation task. The goblin subjugation task paid a total of two silver coins and with the previous slime task, he made a total of 6 silver coins and 50 bronze coins.

Looking happily at his money he turned to ask the attendant another thing.

"Miss, I wonder if the guild buys looted armour and weapons?" Aurus looked up hopefully at the attendant.

"No, unfortunately, we don't buy equipment. There is a blacksmith in town. However, they are only opened during the day." Hearing her place an emphasis on the word 'day', Aurus understood that he shouldn't bother her anymore. However, he needed to buy some monster cultivation resources of other elements for his shop. As such, he could only choose to ignore the implications behind her emphasis and asked her about the materials.

"Erg, follow me." A little bit unwilling, she slowly got up from her seat and brought him to a small warehouse on the left side of the hall. After inserting the key in the doorknob and opening the door, Aurus was faced with a lot of different materials.

Looking rapidly, feeling the sharp eyes in his back, he selected three different materials and asked for the price.

"The poison of the poisonous toad is worth 10 bronze coins per bottle. The eyes of the shadow wolf are worth 10 silver coins per eye and the claw of the three-coloured metal fox is worth 5 bronze coins. They are honestly useless and are extremely brittle. We haven't found any use for them yet." The lady said while shaking her head and continued. "They are just wasting space and while the guild master wants to get rid of them to make some room for other materials, he can't just throw them away either as it's the adventurer's guild property so, he's stuck in a sticky situation."

Hearing this, Aurus's eyes couldn't help but lit up. While the eyes of the shadow wolf are too expensive for the moment, he could buy a lot of poison bottles of the poisonous toad and claws of the three-coloured metal fox.

[Poison of the poisonous toad: The toad poison has the effect of confusing the target hit by his poison. The stronger the target, the lesser the effect. This is a monster cultivation resource of the poison element. By eating the poison, the monster will strengthen his poison and has a chance to develop a confusing effect on its own poison.]

[Claws of the three-coloured metal fox: The claws become extremely brittle once the three-coloured metal fox his dead. However, when it's alive and receives energy from the metal fox, the claws are extremely hard, dangerous and sharp. This is a monster cultivation resource of the metal element. By crushing the claws into powder, mixing it with water and having the metal type monster drink it, the claws of the monster will become harder and sharper. There is also a low chance of mutation where the monster's claw will change to one of the three colours of the three-coloured metal fox, be it red, green or blue. Each of the colours has a different effect. The red colour will give additional fire damage, green will give additional poison damage and blue will give additional water damage. Note that the additional damage doesn't count as a new element and merely gives an advantage to the monster's attack.]

Aurus unhesitatingly decided to ignore the eyes of the shadow wolf since the price was too high for him. As for the high amount of information that had just appeared when he used the identification skill, it was because his skill rank had just ranked up to E rank.

[Skill: Identification. (E rank 0/500)

This skill can identify a little bit of characteristic of any item or person.]

Looking at the attendant getting more and more irritated, Aurus accelerated and brought out the coins he had made during the day and the coins he had looted from the goblin's hunt. Counting his 6 silver coins and 50 bronze coins, he found an extra 4 silver coins and 206 bronze coins. In total, after reducing as much as possible, he had 12 silver coins and 56 bronze coins. At this point, he could have bought a shadow wolf eye but in reality, it just wasn't enough. Right now what he needed was a higher amount of monster cultivation materials to sell and furbish his shop.

Thinking for a small moment, he turned to the attendant and said in a certain voice: "I'll buy 7 silver coins worth of poison of the poisonous toad and 5 silver coins worth of claws of the three-coloured metal fox." After all, he wanted to keep a few bronze coins for basic needs in the city and he still had another quest about buying a skill to think about.

Thinking about quests, he opened his task icon of the system and saw the green colour for the completed task of ranking up to E rank. The reward of this task was an increase in the size of the system space to be able to bring more items out of this world at one time. As he looked at the space he confirmed that the space had indeed been increased as the previous 10 cubic meters had changed to 20 cubic meters.

Instead of the E rank upgrade task, he received another adventurer's rank up task.

[Task: Become a D rank adventurer.

Reward: Double the size of the system storage space.]

As Aurus was seeing the changed tasks, the attendant behind him was speechless. She had clearly just told him that the claws were useless but he still wanted to buy them? 'Well, it's his own money anyway and he indeed has the right to buy this material even though they are useless.' Shaking her head secretly, she hoped he knew what he was doing because considering he had just ranked up to E rank, 12 silver coins must be a lot of money for him.

However, her concerns were only concerns and she still had a job to do. Pushing the fatigue away, she collected ten silver and 200 bronze coins. With that, Aurus was now down to only 56 bronze coins but he had collected quite a few materials for the shop. A total of seventy poison of the poisonous toad and a hundred claws of the three-coloured metal fox.

It didn't take much time for the attendant to gather all of the materials and present them to him. After leaving the materials, she went back to her desk to continue working on her papers. Confirming she was not looking his way and was fully concentrated on her papers, he collected all of the materials in his system space and went back to the task board.

Honestly, he was quite stunned himself. Having been in this world for around ten to eleven hours, he wasn't feeling tired or hungry at all. While not understanding why this happened, he was quite happy with this reality since it gave him the chance to continue to work and collect money for the task of buying a skill.

Currently, his system inventory was almost completely full so he didn't want to continue collecting materials for the time being. On the other hand, considering his system space was pretty full, he wondered when the system would bring him back to his shop.

At the moment, the tasks in this world were two. One of buying the skill and another to increase his adventurer's rank. However, to increase his rank, he needed to complete fifty E rank quests. According to the previous attendant which had helped him get promoted, the requested ten tasks for F rank adventurers were just to confirm whether they really wanted to become adventurers. Starting from E rank was the real start. Completing fifty tasks of their own ranks would be necessary to promote up to the A rank adventurer. As for S rank and above, she didn't mention it and he didn't ask. He was just too far from that rank to even bother to ask about it.

Aurus might be a little confident in himself but he wasn't stupid either. He knew the difference between him and the S rank and he didn't believe that his bronze level cultivation from the world or Arashina would help him greatly. Maybe in the future, after he broke through but right now, he was extremely weak.

However, he didn't doubt his future greatness since this world was a world that relied on skills more than anything else while the world of Arashina relied on cultivation which enhanced the senses and the physique of the cultivator along with contracting beasts for improving their fighting strength. It was easy to understand that both worlds completed themselves nicely and that in the future he would be able to soar and surpass everyone thanks to the ability of his system.

Even though he didn't know much about this system of his, he was ready to continue and explore its mysteries.

And right when he was ready to choose a task to complete from the task board, a screen with a single line of text appeared right in front of his eyes.
