Chapter 4

The dreams never stopped, I just lived under the impression that I met someone at that party. Someone that was going to change my life and I was decided to find him. Every day of the summer I went in town searching for something, a feeling to confirm me what I already knew.

-So where are we going Miss?

-More politely and it is not your job to ask.

-Well I have to know since I am the one taking you.

-No you don't because we aren't going somewhere, I just wanted to go around the city.

-It hasn't changed…

-Excuse me?

-Since you went around it yesterday, or the other day, or last week. It's the same.

-Don't provoke me peasant I know that myself.

-Then why?

-Do I have to remind you that you are not supposed to ask? You are just supposed to respect my orders. Now shut up and drive, I am concentrating.

Marcus started to piss me off again, I think he was figuring out that I was looking for answers myself because after the drive I had a pretty intense talk with my dad.

-What the hell do you think you're doing?

-Sorry? I don't understand what you are referring to, dad.

-Don't play stupid Vivien. Why are you roaming around the city?

-What? I don't have the right to relax by a long drive through it now?

-Of course you do, but it's been more than a week since you go every day.

-Well I have a lot of stress to relieve!

-From what? It's summer.

-From you constantly screaming at me!

-Vivien, listen, I don't have a problem with you going around the city but I swear if you're looking for your dream boy from the party you are going to support the consequences, you understand? Yes or no?

-How did you know about this? About the boy? I didn't-

-Vivien yes or no? Answer!

-Yes dad, I understand.

-I hope so.

Ugh, I can't believe Marcus told him about that boy. I only asked him a simple question he didn't have to go and report that to my father. I had to find him.

-You!

He was in the garden working on some flowers. What is he our new gardener now? When I screamed he turned around and by his expression I could see that he sensed trouble. Good.

-What did you tell to my father?

-Sorry?

-About the boy I asked you, what did you tell him?

-Everything.

-What? How could you?

-I am your father's employee Miss, when he asks me something I have to give him a full answer.

-How could you betray me like that?

-I never knew you trusted me.

He sounded confused and sad like he was really sorry because I felt betrayed.

-I didn't.

His face straightened, he wanted to say something but I left before he had the chance.

I couldn't let him drive me anymore or be around me when I was searching for that boy. I will go by myself.

I decided to go every night when everyone was asleep. That day I went one last time with Marcus, so he wouldn't suspect anything.

-I'm bored, I said when we were in the middle of the town, I want to go home.

-Are you sure Miss? You usually go a little bit longer.

-I know that you idiot, but I got bored of seeing the same thing every day. I want to go somewhere else.

-Do you want me to drive you outside the city?

-No. I want you to take me home like I ordered you to do in case you didn't hear me the first time.

-Yes Miss.

When it was night time I snuck out of my room and went quietly to the car. I put Marcus to park it in the back of the house as the excuse of being too much light in front so when I leave no one will hear it. It worked, no one woke up when I left.

I went to every party I knew. I was just driving in front of them because usually teens gathered in the backyard of a big house to party. I didn't have any feeling that I knew somebody. So I decided to roam around the streets instead.

I was driving for a while when I decided to stop the searching, I was getting annoyed by the fact that I couldn't ever find him. I stopped by a park and started walking; I wanted to feel the fresh air and cold breeze of the night. I suddenly felt an arm on my shoulder; I screamed and punched directly in the face the person behind me when I turned.

-Ouch! Marcus screamed and covered his bleeding nose with his hand.

-What is wrong with you?

-Me? I am not the one that punches strangers in the park!

-I thought you were a thief or something! What are you doing here and why are you screaming at your boss?

He looked at me like he didn't believe what was happening to him.

-I followed you.

-Why?

-Because you ran away in the middle of the night.

-I didn't run away I just-

-Went to continue your crazy searching? Yeah, I can see that.

-Hey, don't talk to me like that I can still fire you!

-I am sorry, Miss. I am just doing my job.

-Your job is not to be disrespectful.

-You are right Miss, I apologize.

-Good, now can you leave me alone?

-No.

-Excuse me?

-I have to drive you home.

-I have my own car I can drive myself.

-You do, I don't. Now give me the keys please.

-How dare you?

He took the keys from my hand.

-Hey!

-You should be more careful with those, somebody may steal them, now let's go.

-You have no right to do that, wait until my father finds out.

-I don't think your father will be pleased to know you ran away and according to his orders I have the right to do anything possible to keep you safe, and now you are safer at home than here.

I remained silent, I can't believe this. I went to the car; there was no point in protesting anymore.

It was a quiet ride; I was looking at the window when I noticed he missed the turn which led to the house.

-You missed the turn.

-I know.

-You won't have another, it's the only one.

-I know. I am not taking you home.

-Then where are we going?

-You'll see.

Okay? What was wrong with him? Where was he taking me?

We drove half an hour. We were out of town, in the middle of nowhere when he stopped the car.

-Where are we?

-On a cliff.

-Oh, don't tell me that you are one of those guys who takes the girl on a cliff to view the whole city to make her feel better. Because I'm not impressed.

-No. Get out of the car.

-What?

-You have to be outside to see it.

I went out and saw it. It was a cliff which went towards a lake; you could see everything, the water, the forest, the night sky full of stars. It was beautiful, it was high enough so I couldn't touch the water, but I could hear the waves smashing on the sides and feel the specific smell of a nearby sea.

-This is my calming place; every time I feel disturbed I come here.

-Marcus, this is beautiful.

-I know, want to sit?

-Here?

-Yes, don't worry there is no mud, and the grass is perfect to sit on.

We sat down and watched the stars. This place is magical.

-Why did you bring me here?

-I thought you need it.

-What do you mean?

-I saw you. I saw how upset and frustrated you were because you couldn't find your dream boy and I thought this place may help.

I looked at him and grabbed him by the hand; he turned towards me and looked me in the eyes. His eyes were a deep green you could lose yourself in.

-Thank you.

-You don't have to thank me.

Our faces were so close I could hear his breathing; it was quick like he was nervous about something, like he was experiencing strong emotions. A thunder broke the magic, the sky became darker and rain started to pour on the water, on the ground and on us.

-We should go home.

We got in the car and drove home. It was another silent ride.

We arrived around 4 o'clock home, everyone was still asleep, nobody even knew we weren't home the whole night. Good. I got in bed tired of the little adventure I had, but I couldn't sleep, I kept thinking about Marcus, about that place.
