Jun was getting glimpses of his childhood when he found his mother with another man and today he found that the man was none other than Jok Wang. He frowned in sleep when Ani touched his forehead with her finger. The touch made him wake up from that sleep.
In a low voice Jun asked, "Where am I? Am I dead?" and tried opening his eyes completely. After a few minutes he analyzed that he was at some familiar place. He tried getting up but his headache and he screamed in pain.
"Jun-aa," said a voice and it was Ani.
"Why is she here? Am I at her home? No it's my home," thought Jun.
"Hey!! rest up okay. How much have you taken?" Tae asked with a concerning look.
"Yes I drank a lot but I don't remember," said Jun.
"Why did you drink that much? Above all, what were you trying to do?," asked Jae with tears in his eyes.
"Get out you all," shouted Jun at all of them in his deep emotionless voice.
"Hey what happened?," asked Tae and went near him.
Jun again got the glimpse of the day when he was a kid. His hands filled with blood and he was running on the pavement and then something happened but he didn't remember. He held his head and then chest. His breaths started becoming uneven. He started screaming as the picture of that day started revolving in his mind.
Hearing his screams Woo and the elders came there. Dowan went near Jun and put his hand on his shoulder. Ani and others got scared seeing this because Jun never showed this behaviour before.
Jun jerked his dad's hand too and got up from the bed.
"Get out you all....leave me alone," yelled Jun and started throwing things whatever came in his hand.
Seeing him like that Woo thought to give him injection. Ani and Jae started crying to see his condition.
"My mother, she was there with her son. I'm an orphan," murmured Jun and threw the vase on the mirror. His hand got a cut and blood started coming out of his hand. Tae and Yun stepped ahead and grabbed his arms tightly when Woo quickly inserted the syringe in him. Jun fell unconscious because of that.
They all started crying seeing this.
"You all should go out," commanded Woo and told Tae to take them out. Woo checked Jun and treated his wound on the hand.
After a few minutes he came out in the hall. "He's fine. I think he had a trauma when he was a kid and someone triggered saying things related to his past." Woo made an assumption based on his observation.
"I think he has met his mother today. As he was saying something that she has a son," said Woo. "I will talk to him when he regains consciousness," Woo told them. Woo patted at Ani's back and said, "he's fine."
Woo then went to Dowan's room and gave him medicines and told him that he didn't need to worry.
Ani went to Jun's room and saw he had broken down many things in the room. She started cleaning the room thinking if Jun will wake up he could get hurt. Jae and Yun too helped while Tae was finding Jun's mobile phone.
"He broke his other phone too," murmured Tae and looked at Yun and Jae. They sat on the couch there while Ani sat beside him.
"Ani you should sleep in your room. I'll look after him," Tae advised Ani.
"Is it about his mother?," asked Ani.
"He even wounded himself," murmured Ani and took his hand in hers.
"His mother did those things to him which no one will,'' Tae said in a low voice.
"Who is she? Do you know about her?," asked Ani.
"No. I only know that she lives in Beijing." Tae answered her truthfully.
Tae then took a deep breath and started telling her. "He even tried to kill himself because of his mother. After his mom demanded a divorce she said to him that she hated him which made him crazy that day and he got into an accident. Ani, he has gone through many things."
Ani's heart ached hearing this. She caressed Jun's head lovingly.
"Jun has seen those things in his life which a child never wants to see. I was so angry at him that day. He was almost dead at that time. I never thought that day would come once again," said Tae in a broken voice. Jae put his hand on Tae's shoulder and consoled him.
"I never knew he suffered so much," murmured Ani.
"You should sleep now," insisted Tae again.
"I can't be able to sleep," muttered Ani. Yun and Jae stopped Tae speaking further as Ani was determined to stay there. "Let's check uncle, aunty," murmured Tae and left the room with Jae and Yun.
In the late midnight Jun demanded for water. Ani quickly filled the glass with water and made him drink some water. He gradually opened his eyes and saw Ani.
"Are you okay?," asked Ani with a worried voice. It felt like she would break down at any time.
Jun tried to get up but due to weakness he couldn't. Ani helped him sit and put some pillows behind him.
"I...I should call oppa," said Ani and ran out of the room. After five minutes Woo came there with Tae and others. Woo told them they should go back as he wanted to talk with Jun alone. They all agreed and left from there.
Woo after closing the door, took a chair and placed that beside the bed. He looked at Jun who wasn't blinking his eyes.
"The injection dose was light as you've drunk the alcohol. So, are you feeling well?," asked Woo.
"Hmm."
"Should we talk then?," said Woo.
"There's nothing to talk about." Jun blurted out.
Woo took a deep breath and said, "Why are you thinking that way?"
"Don't act as if you all care for me," snapped Jun at him.
"I'm a doctor so of course I should take care of you," reasoned Woo. He further asked, "Did you meet someone?"
Jun after a pause answered, "I wish I never had met her." His eyes were again filled with tears.
"Is it about your mother?," asked Woo.
Jun glared at Woo and answered him, "She isn't my mother. Why are you asking such questions?"
"Okay I will not ask....but as a doctor I have to know," stated Woo.
"You don't know what it feels like when someone calls you an orphan," said Jun with tears in his eyes.
"I'm an orphan,'' said Woo and gave Jun a smile.
Jun looked at him with an unbelievable look.
"Don't stare at me. I'm saying the truth. Ask Soo if you don't believe me." Woo told him. "But who said to you that you're an orphan," asked Woo and crossed his arms.
"Can I tell you?," asked Jun.
"Well I'm your doctor. A doctor never reveals about his patient so you can trust me." Woo made him understand.
"I met with the woman whom I thought was my mother but she isn't. I met with my brother but he isn't.
That woman told me that I'm an orphan who has no existence in this world.
So in all these years I was in complete illusion. My dad who isn't my dad lied to me all these years. So did my uncle and aunty.
I wanted to die that day when I saw her on my birthday with some other man. She told me how she and her husband replaced me with his son here so that dad will never know about her affair.
But that day I saw everything and then she demanded divorce. When I was a kid she told me that she pitied dad and that's why she celebrated my 10th birthday.
I wanted to die but I couldn't at that time. But yesterday night I felt I should've died leaving behind all these burdens from my life," said Jun with pessimism.
"Jun but don't you know everyone cherishes you here. They love you so much," said Woo.
"They all pitied me," muttered Jun angrily.
"Okay, Jun. Let me tell you my story, who only Soo knows," said Woo.
"I grew up at an orphanage. When I was little I saw children walking with their parents to their homes but for me no one was there. I was sometimes bullied by the students of my class. I used to think like you because for me there was no one.
When I was in elementary school I was beaten so badly that I wanted to suicide. I was crying badly at the one corner in the backyard of my school when a boy held my hand and wiped my tears. He was Soo. I thought he pitied me but he didn't. He said we get this one life and in this one life we should do every possible thing to make ourselves happy.
And now look at me.....I'm a reputed doctor in Seoul not because my loved ones pitied me but because of the people who love me.
Your dad, uncle and aunty, your brothers and friends never pitied you. If they had pitied you they would've thrown you at the orphanage again by giving some money but they never did this," Woo made him understand.
"They never told me the truth. Isn't it unfair?," asked Jun.
"Because they always treat you as their own son. What's the point then to tell you that you're an orphan. Didn't you see the face of your loved ones. Your dad cherished you all these years as his own son and you're his son now. Jae is your cousin. Tae is your friend. Everyone here is your family. They never pitied you. Talking about that woman, don't you think it's good you aren't with her, else your life would've been completely different, which is not because of your dad," said Woo.
"Jun, don't put your thoughts into a negative way. You're a beautiful soul and you've already achieved many things thanks to your hard work, diligence and above all to your loved ones." Woo rested his mouth saying these words.
