Chapter #9: To Lead Us All

As Modoru and May headed back to professor Kalisto's lab, they had found out that Kalisto himself had contacted the military to rescue Modoru. After arriving at the lab, they assured him that all was well, and Modoru was safe and sound.

"Ooh that's great! I was just about to call in the military. They were about to ship out!" Kalisto said.

"It's not a problem anymore Kalisto," Modoru said as they all gathered in the lobby of Kalisto's house lab. "I was able to convince May to let me go."

"Your friend is very convincing," May piped up.

"I would think so! We haven't officially met yet. I am Professor Kalisto, head researcher here at Rukaku Labs. And this.." Kalisto said as Modoru Jr walked up beside Kalisto, "is my adopted son."

"Hello," Modoru Jr said tenuously.

"Hey there kid, sorry for the scare earlier, but I'm Diviner's City military. I was just doing my job." May said apologetically. Modoru Jr's eyes lit up.

"Oh wow, that's really cool! I haven't met someone from Diviner's city military before!" Modoru Jr said. Quite confused now Modoru spoke up.

"Kid, I'm from Diviner's City military," Modoru said. Modoru Jr smiled jokingly.

"Yeah but she totally kicked your ass. She could be better than even you Modoru," Modoru Jr said.

"Ouch," Modoru said embarrassedly.

"Well no arguments there," May said as she looked at Modoru playfully.

"I'd gather everything is all good here, let's head to my work station and iron out the details of the project," Kalisto said. As they all approached the work station, Modoru Jr started heading up the stairs, clearly not being allowed to hear any of it.

"Prof, wouldn't it be ok if the kid heard everything up until this point? He has a right to know too," Modoru said.

"Your right Modoru, he does have a right to know, especially now with what just transpired with May," Kalisto said thoughtfully, "Jr! Come back please. You'll be allowed to listen, just behave yourself please."

"Ok!" Modoru Jr said as he bounded back down the stairs and sat beside Kalisto.

"Alright ladies and gents, let's get started. In a few days we're having the rest of the volunteers from each bastion cities join us here in the lab. We shall be conducting the project to head back to the past around that time. Wanderers' City to the west has already sent there representative as well as Settler's City to the east," Kalisto said. At this May hopped in.

"I shall be the Diviner's City representative," May said confidently. "I realize you just met me, but there is no time to contact another military representative from Diviner's city. As well, Modoru has mentioned that there is only a limited amount of time before the meteor shower occurs. That being said, I feel bad for having put you all through that fiasco earlier. Let me make it up to you."

"Very well May, I shall include you in our plans as well," Kalisto said. "However, we still need someone to lead us into the timestream, someone who has been there before and knows what to expect."

"I take it you mean me," Modoru said.

"Yes Modoru. We need your expertise on this one. Will you help?" Kalisto asked.

"Well I'm already the volunteer for Valkyrie's City, I don't mind being the leader for the group. I just need all the details professor." Modoru said.

"No problem Modoru," said Kalisto as they began going through the details of the plan.
