Finding out

Roselyn walked in the warehouse, seeing Kaila tied to a chair. Tina standing in the corner, shaking and crying, while Kaila only started reacting once, she saw Roselyn, pleading for her to leave her, that she did nothing wrong, that she is framed by someone who wants to hurt her and have her fired.

"Kaila, how long have you worked for us?" Roselyn asked, playing with the knife in her hands.

Kaila shakily responded with thirty years, making Tina look at her weirdly.

"Tina, how long have Kaila worked for us?" Roselyn turned to Tina, who looked up, her eyes landing on her madam then at her Kaila.

"35 years, madam." Tina responded with a steady voice, opposite of Kaila.

"What's your first son's name?" Roselyn asked Kaila, who didn't know how to answer, simply stuttering.

"Tina, you answer."

"Jake."

"Your husband's name?"

Still no answer from Kaila, so Tina answered instead.

Kaila and Tina have been together, since the young maid joined the house, Kaila was like a mother and a friend to Tina, they spent most of their time, if not all of it together, bonding and knowing every detail about each other. Over the years, Tina thought she knows Kaila the best, but these past few months, Kaila...has been acting weird, not her usual self, maybe it's a mid-life crisis, a late one.

As Tina was busy with her thoughts, she didn't notice Roselyn approaching Kaila, the knife still in her head, as she went behind Kaila, untied her and stood before her. The, supposed, old lady breathed a breath of relief, thinking she is saved but how wrong she was. The next moment held her hands, checking them and then smirking.

"Kaila, you are turning 60, soon right? It's impressive how there no wrinkles on your hands, how they look like they belong to a twenty some year old. Do you use some kind of cream or...»?

Roselyn first realized this on the picnic, when Kaila offered them the drinks, she didn't give much care to it, thinking her eyes tricked her because of the sun. Looking back at them, these definitely aren't an old lady's hands. To test her theory, she held her knife to Kaila's neck and cut. No blood, nothing came out, just a mere scar showed on her neck.

Kaila face became pale, struggling to say anything, she has been found out, that person is going to kill her if she says something, the madam won't so it's better not to say anything and bear the pain, because they will torture her for sure.

"You know, the person you are working for, probably doesn't even care if you died or not, otherwise why would they send on a suicide mission? Do you think they trust your ability to succeed?" Roselyn said in a teasing voice. Kaila glancing at her, a sure look on her face. "Oh, you do. How cute. But let me break it up to you, they don't."

"I don't care, I just want to serve my master with all my best." Kaila muttered. Her life wasn't the one that mattered, she is nothing but a chess a piece in a big game, bigger than her.

"You admitted pretty fast that you a spy, this was easier than I thought. I am going to asking a few questions, where is the real Kaila?"

"Dead, my master killed her."

Once Tina heard this, she had a shocked look on her face, as tears slowly streamed from her eyes, as her legs gave up on her.

"If you tell me who sent you, maybe I will forgive you and let you live."

"I don't need your pity; I am not saying anything."

"Really? You don't mind getting torture for someone who doesn't bother with you?"

"I am not going to betray my master, I prefer death."

In 'Kaila's head, death by Roselyn is much easier than what that person will do to her if she admits everything. It clearly showed on her face, she wanted death.

"Is that so? Jack, let her go. Tina, let's get out of here." Roselyn went to Tina and helped her out and got out of the warehouse, while Jack took care of the matter.

The two-woman walked in the empty space, one crying because of her mother's figure dying, while the other was panicking on the inside, thinking of what just happened, it was so cool! Her lines were straight out of a movie, like the cruelest protagonist ever. Maybe it wasn't the best choice to kill Kaila's impersonator but she won't get anything from her, that woman was 100 percent ready to die, her eyes showed willingness. She was free, nothing was stopping her from simply leaving the place, except Jack standing at the door but she could still leave but chose not to, which only makes this even weirder, is failing her mission more important than her freedom? Or was she afraid to report to her master that she failed? Nonetheless, she needs to find out who is behind this.

A maid came running to Roselyn, once arrived to Roselyn, breathing heavily said: "Madam! Madam! The duke...the duke is..."

"What's wrong with Oliver? Speak!"

"The duke woke up and wants to leave, he is saying he was work to do, we tried to stop but he is already heading to the carriage."

"That workaholic! Ughh. You, take Tina to her room and stay with her, I will take care of the rest." Roselyn let go of Tina and sped her steps towards where the carriage is.

"Jack, are you here?" Roselyn said, looking at her shadow, because she felt something or someone there.

"Yes madam." Jack responded, with a monotone voice, his head sticking out of her shadow.

"Stop with the madam already. Is Prince Corey still here?"

"Yes, his highness is in the library."

"I thought he left ages ago. Go ask him if he can come to the stable."

"Yes madam." Jack said, leaving Roselyn's shadow.

"He never listens, does he?"
