Secret

For the rest of the day, they couldn't bring the topic up, because of two different reasons, the first, Roselyn kept asking things about the academy, not leaving them any room to ask her about anything, the second, she is not the same classes as them. They are five grades in the academy, Bella and Lola are in the first one, Jack is in the second, and Roselyn the third; they didn't spend time together, and when they thought they could meet at the lunch break, it turned out, Roselyn had to go to the administration, to fix some problems.

At nighttime, they went to her room, but they couldn't find her anywhere in there, it turned out later, that she was in the library. Roselyn jumping to the third year, wasn't ideal for her, her knowledge was based around what she learned with Bella and some books she read, but those weren't enough, she couldn't understand anything the teachers were saying, she could only stare at them and try to understand what they are saying.

Oliver couldn't put her in a lower grade, she was already too old for the academy, she is lucky they even allowed her to get in; so, her only choice was to the library and read every book there, about the first, second and third grade all together, but in order.

It wasn't easy, she had to read every sentence ten times, to know what it meant, then understand it; by the time the library was closing, she only finished twelve pages of the first book she got; they allowed her to take it to her room, so she continued studying in her room.

Roselyn ended up sleeping on her desk, with the book half open, as the candle by her side, kept dripping wax on her hand; Lyn didn't want that to continue to happening, so she went to Jack's room and tried to get him to go to Roselyn's room, by her second trial, when she tried to wave at him while mouthing Roselyn, to her surprise, he looked straight at her eyes, then got up and left his room, scaring her even more than she already was, of him.

Jack quietly entered Roselyn room, looking for her, he noticed the candle dripping on her skin, so he quickly turned it off, with his finger, took her to her bed, cleaned her hand and put some cream on it, so it won't leave a mark, then left her room, the same way he entered.

There is one spot in the whole academy, where no one hangs out, because it's so far away from the classrooms and other areas; that was the place Roselyn practiced her magic in, everyday after classes and her trip to the library, she would come here to be all alone and nit get disturbed, but today was different, some unexpected guests arrived and they were pinning her to a wall, each of the their hands at one side, while she is in the middle.

"Bella, Lola, I need to practice, will you please let me go?" Roselyn said and cursed the small body she has, both Bella and Lola are slightly taller than her, even though she is older than them.

"No, you ran from the topic long enough, we want the truth." Lola said, not moving her hand. They waited and waited for Roselyn to tell them on her own, but it's been two weeks and their curiosity got the best of them, so they made the plan, to corner Roselyn.

"What truth?" Roselyn asked, narrowing her eyes.

"About the night you spent with Jack." Bella answered. She kept telling herself, that's okay, and that she doesn't need to know about it, but it's her mother's business, it's about her family's dynamic, so she has to know.

"Oh, that. Why don't you ask Jack instead?" Roselyn said, knowing that if they go to Jack, he would answer them immediately, since Lola is there.

"Because that man doesn't budge and Lola here, was too shy to ask, so we are asking you and you have to answer us, or we are not letting you go." Bella said, with a serious face, the same as Lola, as they were trying to be intimidating, but it didn't work, Roselyn only saw them, as children asking for candy; it's not like she didn't want to tell them, she doesn't remember the whole thing, she only remembers some moments of that night, most of them, just her and Jack talking about random things, but they probably won't believe it.

Roselyn decided to mess with them, they interrupted her practice and it will be fun to see their reactions. "Actually, we talked about.... about...…about running away." Roselyn said, looking down, to sound more guilty and to hide her smiling.

"From what?" Bella asked, shocked by the answer.

"Where?" Lola asked at the same time, not expecting this answer.

"From everyone to somewhere where no one can find us." Roselyn said, in a sad tone, and waited for them to react, but she could only hear the wind and the bushes moving, until two broken voices came out.

"You wanted to leave us?" Bella said, feeling her heart shatter in pieces, is she not important to Roselyn? She wanted to leave her and go with someone, she only met a couple of months ago?

"Did we do we do something?" Lola felt betrayed, her brother and friend wanted to leave her alone and go, not even asking her if she wants to go too? They were going to abandon her, is she not important to them? Why did they decide to do that?

What Roselyn took in accountable, is that both Bella and Lola are emotional and could easily start crying, like right now, making her panic and stumble.

"I am joking, we didn't talk about that, we talked animals and stupid things, I swear." Roselyn said, trying to look at their faces and wipe their tears, with her handkerchief.

"Really? You weren't going to leave us?" they both asked at the same time, sniffling.

"Of course not." Roselyn said, feeling really guilty right now, she made two teenage girls cry, she is such a bad adult.

"Don't ever joke like that again." Bella said in an angry tone, so close to throwing some hands, but stopped herself.

"I am sorry, I promise I won't." Roselyn said, with deep regret, not knowing that the joke will become reality one day, without her consent.

For being an asshole and making her only two friends cry, she ditched her practice and decided to spend the rest of her day with them. The three of them, went to the cafeteria and sat there, talking about everything and anything, with no care, to the others, or the faces that looked at their way.

Bella was the queen of the academy, she was popular, lovable and everyone liked her, Lola was the princess, cheerful and fun to be around, while Rose was no one, no one who she was, other than Bella's step sister, she didn't talk to anyone and always stayed alone, except when she is with Bella, Lola or both, they didn't know why the three hang out together, their only guess, was that, Bella's father, the duke ordered his daughter to spend time with her adopter-sister, because other than that, there is no logical explanation.

Roselyn didn't know any of this, because she spends all of her days studying or with Bella and Lola, but the two other knew, they knew this fact very well, they occasionally get asked why they hang out with someone like Roselyn, they never answer and only ignore those people; so everyone concluded, Bella is forced to be with Rose, and Lola does it because she is nice, even though they both hate her, deep down.

The rumors went wild, everyone had their own opinion, but one was shared, Roselyn is unlikeable and is full of herself, she thinks she is better than anyone, that's why she doesn't talk to anyone, or ignore them when they try to talk to her. The truth was otherwise, Roselyn will either be focused on her books and she loses the ability to hear, or she will be talking to Lyn, inside her head.

All of this, was a recipe for disaster, this will only make Roselyn vulnerable to framing, since nobody knew who she really was, they are going to believe anything anyone tells them about her or her behavior with others.
