Came the night of the bonfire party, though the night is still young, many people, but most of them are college students, are gathered here tonight. Everyone is in their best party outfits with their partners.
"Come on, Maddie. We have to find Neo,"ko Adora said as she dragged me through the crowd to find Neo.
"Why do we have to look for him?"
"He's our representative. I can't find any foods in here, I'm going to ask him where they hid it," she replied. I automatically rolled my eyes, and just let her drag me. Why do we have to find him when there are so many people around to ask.
"Neo! Neo!" she called when she saw Neo from the distance, talking to some peers. Neo immediately turned to us.
"What?"
"Where's the food?" she immediately asked.
"Adora, do you think I'm a waiter here?" he sarcastically asked. Adora's brows met at his remark. Looks like we're up to another battle tonight.
"Duh, you're the frat leader so you must know where the food is," Adora said.
"Just go find it at the bar counter. And let Maddie have fun, don't drag her wherever you want to," Neo said before turning his back on us and talked again to his friends. Adora glared at him and marched towards the bar counter.
"Adora, I'll just grab a drink," I told her and turned right towards the bar counter, while sh turned to the other side as she saw someone from there brought some food outside.
"Just cocktail please," I told the handsome bar tender. He winked at me before preparing my drink.
Boys and their winks.
The music is especially loud in here, most of the people are gathered inside. It's just so cool that they have their own bar counter inside this cottage. And it looks like an actual bar. The frat really put much effort in this party.
"Cocktail for the beautiful, Miss," the bar tender said when he handed my drink. I received it politely and walked away.
I went out again because I find the bar tender so creepy with his mischievous smirk. If you think you're still handsome when you smirk, dude you're creepy as hell.
I couldn't find Adora. Maybe she stuffed herself with foods. I just went to the farthest part of the beach where I can hear less from the bonfire party. I just attended the party just because Adora pleaded me with her super annoying, twinkling eyes. I walked along the white sand while listening to the healing sound of the waves.
Sunset, beach and the waves will always be my kind of healing. I'd rather sit here alone and drink my cocktail silently whilst healing my chaotic self.
As I went further, my cocktail is getting lesser, I heard a sound of a guitar and a beautiful singing voice. The voice is not the beautiful but its not off-tune. I just find it so relaxing I find myself following the sound.
As I get nearer, I felt the cold air brush against me, I automatically rubbed my arm with my other hand. I saw a man sitting at the sand whose back is facing me, strumming the guitar and is singing along the melody.
"God, tell us the reason youth is wasted on the young.
It's hunting season and the lamb is on the run.
Searching for meaning, but are we all lost stars.
Trying to light up the dark."
He sang the chorus whole heartedly. I smiled and closed my eyes while looking up the sky. Feeling the breeze of the cold night, under the luminous night sky filled with stars.
I heard the music stopped hence opening my eyes. I took a glance of the man and found out that he's staring at me while his hands are in his guitar.
"H-hey," I greeted him, feeling embarrassed at my moment earlier.
"How long you've been there?" he asked me gently, as if he's talking to someone so special and precious to him.
I was quite amused about it, felt like a deja vu. Travis and I, under the same skies, getting chills as the ice-cold wind blows, while looking at each other's eyes. Feeling each other's sentiments and seeping through each other's storms.
I walked closer to him and sat beside him. He didn't moved a muscle nor talk sarcastically to me. Travis was the same guy who saved me from the party that Neo's fraternity organised.
I sipped my cocktail and stared at the ocean lighted by the moon. "Long that I've heard enough of your singing," I answered him without meeting his eyes.
He's always been a wonder to me. He's a mystery that I love to unravel but at the same time, I want to protect his mysteriouness. There's something in him that needs to be protected. After all, we all have our own weaknesses.
"Why are you here anyway? Aren't you supposed to be enjoying the party?" he asked me and this time I looked at him. His eyes are different but he's definitely the same Travis.
"How about you? Why are you here?" I asked him back. He put the guitar beside him and stared at the deep ocean. I'm already getting chills because I am just wearing a thin beach dress. I kept on rubbing my arms to keep me warm.
"I don't know. I just feel like it."
I stared at him. I think he's really not in the mood to party. He's wearing a hoodie jacket and a jagger pants and a pair of Nike slippers. He's a soft boy when he wears something like this.
"Aren't you cold?" he asked. I didn't answer him because probably he already knew since I kept on rubbing my arm. I just shrugged at him and the next thing I knew he hanged his jacket on my shoulders.
"Put it on, it's cold," he just said and looked away, left with only a white t-shirt.
"Are you fine, though? It's really cold out here," I commented. He just shrugged at me.
"Just put it on. I can manage the cold, I don't want you to get sick," he abruptly replied.
I found myself smiling and in the end, I wore the jacket and his mint perfume came in to my nose. He's so fragrant.
