Let's talk about timing

Assignments first. Isobel decided. She quickly turned to her geography book. After completing the previous one she moved to the next.

Polar air. Nice. This will be shorter.

Ugh. If she didn't die before she certainly was dying this time of boredom.

Writing the final sentence she pulled out the chemistry sheet.

She looked at the time.

12:07

Damnit! She wanted to go to sleep but she still had…

30 MCQ questions left!

She whimpered in annoyance. Bye-bye sleep. She pulled out a pencil and started looking through the book for the first question but she was abruptly cut off by a clicking noise in her brain.

'Yo, Izzy! I kinda forgot to ask for your number.' the voice spoke.

It was Jay's voice.

'Hey, Jay! Sorry, but can we talk later, like in the morning? I have a chemistry assignment pending.'

'you're doing assignments in the middle of the night?'

'I can't help it. Too much work.'

'Fine. Tell me the questions I'll help you.'

'Wait you know chemistry?' she asked.

She could mentally hear Jay scoffing. This made her roll her eyes. 'I'm awesome at chemistry.'

'Alright, I'll do the theory, till then you solve the numericals. Yeah?'

'Okay.'

'Alex.' She called, 'Please send the image of this assignment to Jay.'

[Okay host.]

After about 30 minutes she was done by all the theoretical questions. Jay told her the answer to the remaining numericals.

After thanking and sending Jay her number she went to bed.

'Goodnight' Jay said.

'Goodnight' she replied. Shutting off Alex she went to sleep.

A couple of days have passed since the day of her kidnapping by a giant invisible vacuum cleaner.

The fact that it happened has been pushed to the back of her head.

Jayden and she had become close friends. They talk a lot, whether it's complaining about the teacher in the class in their head or it's something important that happened.

In these few days, both of them have developed this sync between themselves. They understood each other. It was great having a friendship of that level. It sometimes felt as if they were twins. They had the same level of sync.

Isobel opened her locker and put her stuff in there. It was lunch break right now and she was starving. He rubbed a hand on her rumbling stomach. Just as she swung her door shut she came to face a girl standing there.

The girl had bright blue hair and wore a black leather jacket along with black jeans and a pair of vans.

Isobel almost had a heart attack. 'How long was she standing here?' Isobel controlled her breathing and glared at the girl currently glaring at three freshman kids standing across her. They were looking scared and kept stumbling to unlock the locker.

Isobel whacked her upside the head, effectively cutting off her glare at the kids. The said kids quickly put their stuff away and ran with their tails between their legs.

"Stop scaring everyone, Cara!" Isobel scolded.

Cara looked at Isobel with her intense grey eyes and shrugged. "I'm hungry and you take so long to put your books in there. Just shove it in." She said.

"I can't just shove it in! These require care." Isobel said, patting the locker. "If I act like you then my books will end up all bendy and dog-eared."

Cara just rolled her eyes at her words. They've been through this a million times before. Cara had said that she was giving her books an essence of their master. Cara had said her books are bendy because she's bent and Isobel had just looked at her like she grew two heads.

The bickering had gone forever and they just let it go. It wasn't worth it and they both knew it.

Suddenly Cara's eyes went to see something behind Isobel and her eyes widened. "I'll see you in the cafeteria." She said and quickly spun on her heels and went away.

Isobel turned to look behind her to see why Cara left and her eyes widened.

Making way towards her was Ansel Nguyen. Tall, sunkissed golden-skinned guy, with the brightest pair of hazel eyes she had ever seen. Her crush.

She subtly wiped her hands to get rid of the clamminess. She smiled at Ansel and he waved.

"Hey, Isobel."

"Hey, Ansel." She replied. She was glad her voice came out perfectly calm and confident.

"How's everything?"

"Oh, just perfect. Not much has been going on." She said. It wasn't all false.

'If you don't include the fact that I got kidnapped by a vacuum cleaner, landed in space, met some aliens, had an ancient Celtic symbol tattooed on me, have a chip in my brain with which I can talk to my now best-friend and will have to save a few worlds. You can say not much has been going on.'

Fine. It was the biggest lie ever but he doesn't need to know that.

"Look you know, I've been a bit troubled by history so can you tutor me?" She instantly nodded her head in reply.

"Great, maybe we can go to my place." Isobel's breath hitched. "Wait for me in the parking lot after the…" the rest of the sentence wasn't registered by her as a familiar metallic tang of blood was felt in her mouth. Her tattoo tingled.

She quickly ran towards the nearest bathroom. Just the second she entered the room she felt the same stretching and she vanished.

All the times the world could end, it decided to do so when she was talking to her crush and making plans to be with him to teach the guy history.

She was mad and hungry. She was hangry.

And she was going to kill a bitch.
