First Mission

On the way, she had this squeezing sensation which was new. Usually, it is stretching like spaghetti but this time it felt as if someone was squeezing her. In between the journey she had one more feeling. It was the feeling of being limitless.

She felt infinite.

That's the only word she could use to explain how she felt. There was no other way of saying it. For a moment back then she felt infinite, she felt like she was everywhere.

She landed with a thud. Swaying a bit she gripped the closest thing around her for balance. Shaking her head she stood straight again.

Then she felt it.

There was something on her head.

She looked up and there it was. She could see the brim of her black hat. This was so stupid. The hat looked so stupid and… big.

She looked at her hands. She was grabbing at her tree. Then her gaze followed at her arm. She was wearing black coloured silk gloves.

Her eyes widened. She looked down. She was wearing a black and grey gown that went up to her neck like a turtleneck, pearl necklace hanging down her neck. It looked more expensive than her house. She could feel the tight bodice cutting at her waist. She gritted her teeth. How do people even breathe fully in this thing? She was missing something though.

"Jay!" she called. She heard no one. She frowned at her voice. It didn't feel like hers

She ran a bit ahead as much as she could. The stupid thing that she was wearing was not making her life easy. She was either wearing a ball gown or evening gown. It depended on which era she was in. She yelled out Jayden's name again.

"Izzy?" A voice came from her right. It sounded pretty far away. It didn't sound like Jay's but she still called for him.

After a few minutes, a guy emerged from between the trees. He had slick back hair. He wore a black suit with a black vest, a white shirt, and a black-tie. All of this was paired with black dress shoes.

Why the hell was everyone wearing black? It felt as if they were mourning or something.

"Izzy, i-is that you?" the guy asked.

"Yes." she groaned. She wanted to ask Jay to show his mark and prove it but she was aware that both of them were wearing clothes that made it impossible for them.

The guy who was apparently Jayden blinked, then blinked again.

He then proceeded to burst out in laughter. He couldn't believe his eyes. The girl whose body Isobel was in, looked like she belonged to be in that dress, but knowing it was Isobel made it look absolutely ridiculous.

Isobel was aware of her situation. There was no reason to rub it in her face.

Finally, Jayden calmed down enough to stand upright.

'Ah, must be nice.' Isobel thought. 'To be able to bend.' Her bodice was so tight that breathing was hard, so bending or slouching was out of the question.

Well, this is gonna suck. She decided.

"Did you turn on Alex?" he asked her.

"No, I didn't. I forgot about it while I was searching for you," she said. "I am literally stuck in a different world with only one person I know, who is the only god knows where, and you want me to think about Alex?"

Oh. Jayden realized what she meant. He, himself did not think of it but he thought Isobel would have seen that she was the sensible one between them.

"Fine. got it." Jayden said.

'Alex, can you turn on yourself now?'

[Powering on.] Isobel heard in her head. [Good morning, host. Welcome to your first mission]

'Morning to you as well Alex. Can you tell me who I am and where right now?'

[You are residing in the body of 13-year-old Victoria Alexandra Alice Mary. Making you aware of your location will affect the success probability of the mission. The location is for you to find out once you get out of the woods.]

Isobel thought that Alex was meant to help them. It didn't seem to be doing so.

[Initiating memory and skill transferring program. To be completed after the host reaches the required location.]

Well, now she will be getting a flashback after she's not in the woods. She turned to Jayden and asked him who he was supposed to be.

"Edward Albert Christian George Andrew Patrick David. I'm seventeen and your older brother..." he replied.

Isobel raised an eyebrow at that. The name was possibly longer than the list of cats the crazy cat woman down her street had. She wrinkled her nose at the thought of Jayden and her sharing blood. As if she'd ever be related to this idiot.

"Cmon posh-boy. Let's get out of here."

"You know, I received a message from my mom today during the lunch break." Jayden started as they started walking forward. Eli had said it was the right move if they wanted to get out. "She is apparently being transferred to Merceville."

This shocked Isobel. "Really?! That would be so great! When?" Isobel asked, giddiness was evident in her voice. Anyone would be happy if their best friend was to move where they live.

Jayden chuckled at Isobel's happiness. "In a couple of weeks. She didn't specify. All she said was that her boss told her she was to be transferred to the headquarters with a raise. She agreed immediately because she hates the cold and dad works from home. They both are very happy with it."

Isobel hummed. What are the chances that after forming the team Jayden's mother got transferred to the city she lived in? It wasn't that she wasn't happy about it. She was ecstatic but it seemed too good to be coincidental.

"I think Alasdair has something to do with her," Jayden said. She nodded. That was her thoughts as well.

After a minute of walking in silence, they reached the clearing a few yards ahead. Both Isobel and Jayden picked up their paces and made it out of there.

Once out, Isobel looked in the distance. The sight made her breath hitch. No wonder Alex didn't want to tell where exactly they were. If she had known before she would have run away screaming. Before she could turn around and bolt she heard the galloping of horses.

Oh no, please take her back to their universe, she wasn't going in there. She won't go in there. You'll have to drag her.

And then the worst thing ever happened to her. The horses stopped in front of them.
