The Unknown

The thing starts to walk to our direction, it staggers its way with a creepy smile latch to its face, he was another version of the infamous slender man, right now it was better to encounter the slender man than the thing coming towards us.

My heart was accelerating in a speed of light, and I was holding Ramses' robe as he shields Dex and me from the upcoming attack. The thing was smiling in a specific direction.

Not at Dex nor Ramses.

It's eye bore to mine as it looks like me like he was trying to warn us about something.

'Th-the... darkness will c-come... so-soon and al-all of you wi-will crumble as he ki-king wi-will ri-ssee on-once ag-again...' it slither it's way to us, and I couldn't help to tumble back as Ramses also stagger back, Dex who was holding out his pain came to our aid as he hissed while trying to shield us.

"Amethyst," I heard Ramses whisper as I looked at him, his eyes were not looking at me as he was focused on the thing, awaiting it's attacking," I want you to grab Dex out of here in my count. You bring him as far as you can do not look back,'' he said to me as he pulled out a dagger from his robe, the little blade suddenly glows in the misty place.

A bright musky pink started to glow in his hands as the dagger was growing little tiny roses.

"Ramses...no I'm –I can't..." I looked at the dagger, and I was not sure I could wield it. I don't even know how to fight! What was he thinking?

''Look... Amethyst, right now that things sole purpose is you and we both know who has the better chance on killing whatever that thing," He said quietly observing the thing as it was waiting for Ramses as it was trying to challenge the demigod, challenge accepted.

"I don't know if I can hold onto the monster with you are trailing, and I promise myself I will protect you all, Jacob is put his life for this, and I want to fight, and I'm not letting my younger brother fight all of this alone, please I will be by your side later, please think about Dex.''

I can only look at Dex as he was about to debate his older brother, if only he weren't dying.

We had no choice and Ramses was right, I nod at him, and he passed Dex's other arms down, and the weight was shifted to me, Dex knowing that it was hard to argue with Ramses complies to him as he tries to stand up, not wanting to be a burden.

But I smile at him, signalling that it was okay.

"Go!" Ramses shouted as he started to dash his way to the monster.

-

I was dragging Dex's body, and it was starting to bleed again, droplets of blood began to pour from the satin Ramses had wrapped before.

Dex was navigating the way while trying to stay away, and I couldn't help to feel helpless. He was hissing every time we had to walk, and I couldn't help to shift his weight to me, not wanting to hurt him more.

Whatever Holly had slashed him with it was effecting him bad, a poisonous one.

Everything was fine when suddenly we hear an ear-piercing scream and see another tall like figure running to our direction.

Dex who saw that suddenly grabs my arms as he spins me into his arms while muttering a few enchantments. The thing, more like the ghost was suddenly sliced into two when a sudden ray of light had slash into its abdomen.

"What... what are they?" I stammer at the sudden surprise attack.

"Thy, we need to hide - no you need to hide those lost souls they will get you and will take over your body, they must have gotten lost on their way to the underworld." as he drags my body with him behind a big tree as he signals me to be quite.

We heard a bunch of groans and screeches, and I couldn't help to hug Dex tighter afraid of the thing, not realising I might have embraced him a bit too hard, I felt him jerk forward as I accidentally touch his bleeding abdomen.

"Dex I'm sorry," I mumbled, he grabbed my hands, pulling it closer to him.

"Don't be, you're bringing a brave girl, but we need to get you out of here, they wouldn't be able to catch me, but they will kill you," I not at him as we bot started to walk faster than before.

"What are they?"

"Lost Souls, they are what used to be humans now just vengeful should all lost in the outer gates of the valley."

"How could a lively place like that -" remembering the place you've been before -" could have an entrance as scary as the underworld.

He chuckles a bit, afraid of bleeding more," that should not be a reference for your view of the underworld, the place is much darker than you think, I mean have you seen Adriel?"

"I guess so... no wonder he didn't want me there."

"Let me guess, and your stubborn self wouldn't let Adriel go alone, afraid of his safety aren't we?" I couldn't help to feel a sudden blush appearing on my cheeks, and his right was I concern about his well being.

"Well, I mean it's probably not a good idea to be separated right and -"

"Right..." he chuckled," you don't have to worry about him too much thy, Adriel's a big boy, he sure can take a punch or two, besides no one knows the underworld than the man himself right? you don't have to worry about him, besides I think it was a complete decision in leaving you in Jacob's hand."

I scoff at him," Why? Because I'm a handful?"

"No... because he cared enough for you because he knew bringing you there means ultimatum death for you. Hell, even I wouldn't want to go there."

Is that place that bad? Enough for Dex to run away from it?

"Well, lucky for him, these things are still chasing me."

"Apologies to you but that's Adriel's job to know, why do you think he was so reluctant on leaving you here? You were never a nuisance for him, and he knows the best plan in a situation like this if you like to say 'the best possible income."

Dex shrugs, "you got to give the man credit."

"He's the one who's keeping track of the souls?" I asked him, and he nods his head as he suddenly shifts his position.

"Yes, he's keeping track of those souls, well, his helpers that is, I don't know how they got out."

I was about to ask him more questions when suddenly we heard another screech.

In an instant, Dex grabbed my hands and pulled me behind a tree, when suddenly from the west side a dark figure started to appear, I took the dagger that Ramses gave me, and Dex was murmuring gibberish when a spear appears slicing the dark entity into half.

"I would like to have a cup of tea with you over this conversation, but we need to get our butts moving lone, I think I'm starting to pass out."
