What it means to be a LAKE

Charles appeared right in front of the manor. The blue sky wasn´t there anymore. You could see only the clear starry sky. "Alex goes to sleep tomorrow you will have to present our new Family member" Alex nodded and went towards his room.
---- 26. March 1990 Lake Manor -----
It was a sunny spring day. The sun was rising showing the beginning of a new day. Inside the Room, Alex was sleeping. The room was slowly illuminated from the sun that rises. When the sunlight made his way towards the young boy. You could see that on top of his chest was a small eagle not bigger than the head of the boy. Slowly Alex woke up.
"That was a good dream I wish could have slept more, don´t you, agree," he said with a forced smile. As he was looking down toward the eagle which looked pissed that his pillow moved. The revelation the last few days while very informative left him with a sense of impending doom. He realized that being part of the Lake family takes a lot of responsible "I just wanted to have friends and live a normal life. Maybe have a little adventure, not having to go all political and save the Wizard world. I mean dad knows I hate politics. Well, at least I now know why my parents forced to make me study that much." From the door of his room, he heard an all to Familiar voice: "That's right, we didn´t want to force you but that's the curse of our family. You can use the wealth and power of our family, but you also have to be responsible. Come now get up we are waiting for downstairs." Replied his Mom.
After a short shower, which almost broke out in an all-out war between him and his new Friend. Alex went downstairs. He looked around and found his Family sitting outside around an old stone table. He made his way towards the table and sat with the rest of the family. After the finished eating Charles spoke and asked: "So, Alex your familiar is a thunderbird. He is now part of the family his name." Alex and the thunderbird who was sitting on Alex's lap suddenly stopped. Frank chuckled "don´t tell me you didn´t name him" Alex answered: "Of course I named him I am not stupid, Right "Weather bird." All Parents and even the bird looked at Alex and were trying to figure out if he meant it for real. Alex nodded his head and said: "Sometimes I am astonished how good my Naming sense is." Frank shouted: "No it's not. Do you know how hard it was when you last year named all creatures in the Delacour forest? You Named a Wampus cat "six-foot" the poor cat.
Alex smiled at that and just answered: "come-on how should I know that it was you "six-foot" All Parents looked at each other and started to laugh. Frank or "six-foot" was muttering something under his breath. Meanwhile, this was all going on Jean held the poor thunderbird and tried to cheer him up: "Don´t take it to heart. Its just Alex has a bad naming sense. Let��s see I will give you a Name how about that. I also came up with Alex's name." The bird looked at the mother like he found water and was starving. Jean chuckled: "How about Orkan. Its the German word for a hurricane. So that one day you will be able to create a hurricane worthy of your name." Alex could have sworn he never saw a bird looking at smug as Orkan at that moment.
After that little shenanigans, Alex's aunt Alexandra came and tried to change the direction of the conversation. "Alex, As you know that we take this seriously. If nothing change a War could happen. You will have a hard road before you. In five years all possible future leaders will meet. It was also decided that everyone will be tested at the age of twelve to sixteen. Each year in Summer there will be a test that you have to pass." Then his Aunt turned less serious and happier: "the good thing is you are allowed massive resources. The only requirement is that you have to tell your adviser for what. On that note at age of twelve, you will need to choose an adviser. The adviser is there to help you communicate your plans with the lake family. The lake family will not intervene in any Plan that you come up with, but remember it's your responsibility.
Alex took one minute to understand what it means and asked: "If I wanted to research a new potion, and it was part of forming a connection. Would family help?" His Aunt shock her head. Alex was a bit disappointed. Then his Aunt suddenly said: "You don´t understand you are part of the lake Family and a candidate for a future leader. You can use as many resources as you want If it could help you. What it means to be supported means you get Influence. Let´s say someone hinders or stands in your way. You could ask the family to take him out of the picture.
Jean instantly protested: "what are you saying to my son" Alexandra calmly replied: "We both know that is something that other Big Family does. And should Alex want to survive he will need it. Alex on the 30 August there will be a political Baal that you will attend. On it, you will be declared as potential Heir for the Lake family. Until then I hope you study hard because that will be the official start of your struggle."
